On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

I do think theres a background action counter, in part because Master of Many triggered at such a weird time, the fact that we never got an upgrade of the Odd tree despite all the Rune Metal research we did makes me think Rune Metal doesn't contribute to that.
I have to agree with this. The Rune Metal probably doesn't count towards it. We have spent a substantial amount of actions on it, enough that it is hard to believe that they played role in Journeyman of the Odd.

I am willing to categorize all of our research, but that will have to wait for another time.

Grand splendor and massive megaprojects are old hat to us now. Let's go meet some interesting people instead.

'Some minor fixes that I spotted @soulcake.

No real preferences here. I am sure that every option gives opportunities and knowledge. But I have to be honest. I don't think that Snorri will use his time in the tavern to talk to other Dwarfs. Sure, it happened last time, but he is going there with the intention to drink without being disturbed.

You've slightly changed the argument so I'm going to have to back track a little.
When Alratan raised those two specific fields of research as possible solutions for Durin's Consternation, I assumed (not unreasonably in my opinion) that he meant that those two where either likely or the most likely to have answers. Hence why I explained my reasoning for why those weren't particularly good candidates.

I'm pretty sure you're confused here.

A niggling part of you wonders just how much more could have been done before had you known as much about the arcane energies that suffuse the world as you do now.

It is, just as Durin said, consternating to know you lack both the knowledge and ability to learn that knowledge, but it's only grown more irritating as your comprehension grows. Before, you never knew the heights of the mountain that denied you, but now? Now you're vaguely aware of the peak and that's enough to get you grumbling.

(*New*)[-] Prismatic Dragon's Blood: [Cost: ? actions] Student of the Odd will proc. Locked due to Durin's Consternation: BAH!

Durins consternation is not a specific thing in this argument, it's what happens and what a Dwarf feels when a Dwarf regardless of intent hits a bottle neck that they cannot breach in their research or endeavers because they don't have any paths left to explore to uncover and achieve what they've set out to do as they lack the ability or knowledge of what to do next. Alchemy and arcane magic are what will allow Snorri to breach his current boundaries and limitations. That's not a change in argument, it's you not understanding the argument in the first place.
