IIRC, would also prefer to not write scenes involving Ami (though Velorien has expressed a delight in writing her character, so that balances out, imo).
Symmetrically, Velorien once expressed that he thinks EagleJarl writes Kagome much better. I maintain that we should engineer a highly nuanced high-stakes interaction between Kagome and Ami in which the outcome hinges on the subtleties of their characterization, just to see what happens.

Ami would have to dance around her words harder than she did with Orochimaru to avoid being blown up, and Kagome would likely recognize what brand of Out-Craziness Ami suffers from and want to throw her into a caldera...

Actually, yeah, I'm down to read them being forced to have tea together.

1. Hazou arranges for Ami and Kagome to have tea.
2. Next character. Hidden Leaf and Hidden Mist are replaced as village options by the Leaf Crater and the Mist Nomads.

"So, I hear you're - "
"Nope."
"What? I - "
"Can't read lips, and I stuffed cotton in my ears."
"Why would you - "
"I can tell you're talking. Can't hear you at all, though. No good at reading body language. Made sure there's nothing you can write on in here, too."
"..."
"Tea's good."

On an unrelated note: I'm quietly optimistic that the younger member of our pack will move at a pace which allows us to keep up without needing to consistently chakra-boost. Does it seem reasonable to lay out SOPs re: boosting, resource conservation in a later plan? I'm not sure how to balance speed and maintaining sufficient resources to be an effective combatant.
Don't bother on this. Hazō knows more about ninja travel than we do, so let's simply assume he can handle it.

You would hear the sound of two heads exploding. :p

[X] (Let slip) The Dogs Explore

Y'know, there's a whole other dimension to this thing. We could save a lot of time if Leaf could find the arachnid/hornet/neighbor summoner on the human path.

Kangaroo summoner (they are the neighbors of the arachnids) was in River and they are at least neutral if not allied with Leaf.

Or we could ask Sharky to swim over to them and check for us.

For the record, it's not like I don't enjoy high-stakes interactions. It's just that those are harder to find among characters with established stable relationships. For example, short of Hazō provoking another breakup, one can assume even major conflicts between him and Akane will eventually be sorted out, and the new status quo will not be radically different from the old one (setting aside unpredictable triad effects).

As EJ was so kind to point out to me, the Kangaroo summoner was only known to have been in River at one point in time, there's actually no confirmation they were a River nin. Also, they are dead so we can't ask them. But we can get their scroll

I know but that doesn't mean we can't ask.

"Hey I need a Summoner of a clan on the other side of the continent, do you still have any relation with the scroll/summoner?"

If they still have the scroll, then we should be able talk to them and if they are in another country they might just tell us.

edit: Also informing potential allies that their summonings are in danger might be a good idea anyway.

Stop reading my goddammed mind.

Something to mention to Asuma. Perhaps an independent mission for Akane?

Doesn't really have to be a Goketsu, Asuma has other more qualified people.

Also, even if they don't have the scroll anymore, they might have an idea where the Spider summoner/his clan/whatever is.

Arachnids. Be prepared for scorpions, ticks, mites, and horseshoe crabs. No guarantees that extinct species no longer exist. Expect extreme night vision and horror.

-also radiation resistance, although that hopefully won't be an issue until Kagome gets a scroll.

Should we give the dogs chakdars? The pangolins are good at building in solid stone , burrowing and artillery bombardment. It's a good way to prevent them getting rocked (as in what rock did to leaf)

The Seventh Path doesn't have a 24 hour day, do we know how long their day is? Do we know if it's longer, shorter, or some funny time dilation thing? Maybe the Dogs (or Pangolins since Dogs probably don't do a whole lot of writing) has an almanac or the equivalent. So how the heck are we going to manage check-ins on the Human Path? Water clocks? Are those a thing?
Time is slightly fluky between the Seventh Path and the Human Path. The day on the Seventh Path is usually a bit longer than on the Human Path, but sometimes it's a little shorter. There is also a slight variability between time on the two planes. Conveniently, this variability works out to exactly the right amount of variance such that the QMs don't have to keep exact track of the relationship. It's a very convenient happenstance. None of the clans to whom you have access have an almanac. Hazō can manage on-time check-ins with no problem, although he has a strange feeling that he might lose the ability to do that were the Kami Lords to need too much aspirin as a result of in-depth investigation of, or attempts to munchkin, any of the temporal shenanigans related to the two Paths. He also suspects that in such a situation he might lose a lot more than the ability to do on-time check-ins, if you catch my drift.

(This eloquent formulation brought to you by @eaglejarl, because I couldn't bear not to give due credit.)

Don't post previous QM quotes on the subject, got it.

Great news, everyone!

There is now an official MfD kitten (photos incoming when she is not a black kitten sleeping on a grey blanket and therefore invisible to cameras). She will, in due course, be joined by a second official MfD kitten.

I invite any who desire to do so to guess the kitten's name. Should the highest-voted result be correct when voting closes for my next update, this will put me in a good mood and surely result in a positive plan interpretation and/or update content (plus kudos for being able to read the QM's mind).

The answer is Kagome.

The answer is always Kagome.

I suggest a vote format just so it's easier for me to tally at the end if there are a lot of name ideas, or if several people vote for the same name. Ties won't count.
