[X] "All right, I get it. I'll keep things on the down low for now."
[X] "All right, I get it. I'll keep things on the down low for now."
The quote does say as long as it is nothing soon, or is it doing anything foolish.Just wanted to repost the QM's recent words for those that missed them. We can work on improving things while agreeing to keep magic quiet.
I think most people know Lord Feldrake wasn't female. I suppose magic could change that, but some long lost heir seems more likely.I guess that Intrigue check worked out in the way. Sorta. Thank you for being unreliable narrator, Molly. At least the only person from an auction that would know for sure that Janna is not that Lord Felldrake is Magica. I gotta say, that would definitely make whoever is Molly's employer confused in wrong direction, or maybe even spooked. Another thing would be to worry if someone decides that it would be good to investigate Felldrake's temples, but hey, they don't have our map!
That may be so, but we should also keep in mind the spirit of the words. Specifically, MiH has pointed out that we can take action without ripping down the Masquerade soon, or doing something like outright saying magic is real. There's quite a bit we can do without infringing on either of those territories, so I think we should vote for agreeing to keep magic quiet for now.The quote does say as long as it is nothing soon, or is it doing anything foolish.
So if we did anything in the short term that would count as going back on the promise, or end up doing anything foolish, it would count as betraying a promise to Russ, which I think could hurt his personal loyalty around the same amount or even more than being honest and upfront about trying and not quite succeeding. If our intention is to eventually help with the magic masquerade in a way that improves life for magicals and non-magicals alike (which your post seemingly supports), then we should be upfront and honest about it.
Our actions should match our promises which should match our intentions.
At least with those we want to build a long-standing positive relationship with.
...is this why they all wear robes? So the glowing butthole manifests as an ominous inner glow lighting up the robes rather than as an undignified groin radiance in pants or skirt?I always preferred the 'glare menacingly as dark magic flows through your body and your very orifices glow with baleful light' method."
"I'm proving a point and getting some practice in! What's the use in coming up with a cool spell name if you enemies don't get to hear it before they die?"
Janna pauses for a moment. "...wait, every orifice?"
Yep. That'd be one heck of a brand for Doofania: A land where all, whether they be alien, monster, toon, robot, carnivore or herbivore, are welcome and can live their truth. If there's one lesson Doof has learned in life, it's the pain of rejection, of mockery, of being seen as nothing but a diseased pharmacist. That should be Doofania's spirit: A country, where the oddballs, the unwanted, the rejects, and the indescribably weird can find family and acceptance. A refugee for those who don't seem to belong anywhere, where EVERYONE can belong. Diversitas est roboris.[x] "You're wrong, and I'll prove it to you."

Because honestly? I suspect the question "would mundane folk be prejudiced against magical folk?" is going to be solidly answered in the not-too-distant future. Keeping secrets may help others in the short term, but eventually the secret will get out. Presenting ourselves to mundane folk as knowledgeable and occult-friendly while we still have plausible deniability will establish us as an authority. As the ones to turn to when the world is (metaphorically or otherwise) breaking apart. If we play things right, we can be the first port-of-call for newbie magic users, the hub of an occult information network, and if necessary a refuge (not just from muggles - Bill is a threat to everyone).
And in all honesty, I also really like the idea of Doofania as a chaotic jumble of friendly oddities. We have aliens, mad scientists, Toons, AIs, ninjas, supers, dinosaurs, supers riding dinosaurs, secret agents, living artifacts, clones, resurrected Huns... all coexisting in buildings as wildly contrasting as the population. Frankly, witches and wizards and mythical creatures would fit right in.
Yes, that's wonderful and all, but can you wait for a couple turns? We already know the masquerade is going to break in a couple of months.Yep. If there's one lesson Doof has learned in life, it's the pain of rejection, of underestimation, of being seen as nothing more then a diseased pharmacist. That should be Doofania's spirit: A country where the oddballs, the unwanted, the rejects, and the indescribably weird can find family and acceptance. A land where EVERYONE can belog. Diversitas est roboris.
Yeah, even if we never decide to, having the DC reduced would be helpful. This could also keep them off our backs while they go after the drug ring in Shego's territory.I'm up for either option succeeding, since second option looks more fun, and first option could give Russ loyalty and even reduce Rejoin US DC! Win/win for me!
Fair enough. I'l admit, this decision is just because I think the loyalty hit Russ would take from us betraying our promise would be worse then if we were just honest. Or I just fear commitment.Yes, that's wonderful and all, but can you wait for a couple turns? We already know the masquerade is going to break in a couple of months.
Really fits in with the mishmash of architectural styles that masquerades as our capital.[x] "You're wrong, and I'll prove it to you."

Giving Janna things she wants seems to unite us all. Sending her to NYC to go buy whatever she wanted, giving her Felldrake's staff, rejecting Toffee's offer, promising to go find Star and Marco... these votes were all nearly unanimous. I think the only time we've gone against her opinion is with the Yang Talisman over the spellbooks, and that pitted her against both Russ' star power and SV's desire to catch em all.Adhoc vote count started by mangawriter77 on Oct 1, 2020 at 3:13 AM, finished with 122 posts and 31 votes.

I like how nobody has voted we give the book back. The only difference in votes where the book is concerned is wording. And that's hilarious to me
