Pretty sure we'd send Russ, Tobe, Mirage or Kitsune if not for our OOC intel, Xanatos doesn't have that.

How would Xanatos knowing that Toffee has taken over Janna's town be a bad thing for his investigation?
That's not true. The more we tell him the more it looks like Toffee might just be after Star, Marco, and Janna, none of which are Xanatos' concern. The more we tell him the more suspicious Toffee looks, the more incentive Xanatos has to investigate on his own.
At which point, could we really complain? Xanatos doesn't have to tell us anything, the fact he went out of his way to warn us is already something. If we bungled the investigation, that's on us.Imagine being on the other side of this :
Xanatos : Be carrefull about Florida, they have dangerous robots.
Doof send a unit and they never come back because Xanatos gave no warning about the brain-washing hats.
But we're not telling him that. The more we tell him the more it looks like Toffee might just be after Star, Marco, and Janna
It's 'tell everything (pertinent) that you know about Toffee", not "tell everything you know about everything." There's not really a reason to mention Marco or Cazador.
There's a difference between saying "the evil lizard is an interdimensional warlord, look at [relevant supernatural happenings in Arizona], don't fall for his innocent old me routine" and "the evil lizard is chasing down a very specific group of teenagers."
It wouldn't. What would is him knowing about Janna, Toffee's personal relation to Janna, and how he is specifically opposed to Janna and her friend, the extradimensional magical monarch, instead of humanity in general. How would Xanatos knowing that Toffee has taken over Janna's town be a bad thing for his investigation?
YES !
Also, if Xanatos thought: "Hmm. Doofenshmirtz has been known to make brainwashing hats in the past. If I tell him just that, he might very well try to ally with Doris instead, not knowing how bad it really is. If I tell him about robots, he might be more careful." then it's completely justified.
Okay. Happy Halloween!Well shit it's Halloween. I feel like that definitely deserved TELLING US THAT.
Are we really going to end up telling Xanatos, in our second meeting, everything we know about Toffee the second we get out of the car in front of Janna?
He may have far more important things to do you know.
Heyyy.... young child of a powerful line. Has a powerful magic. Being hunted by a large power. Does this sound familiar to anyone? *cough* *cough* Xanatos's son *cough* *cough*Ah Toffee is a perfectly fine fellow with no untoward ambitions. He is just trying to murder a little girl and steal her magic.
Yes god damn it. She's got 50 loyalty plus she know this is us trying to get a very powerful person to size up Toffy and get ready to fight him and not make a deal like a dumbass.
Oh so this heavily magical auction that happens to contain two kings in it That has been building up for months just so happening to be on Halloween is a coincidence that will have no narrative affect on what happens? We rarely get dates on missions the fact that we are getting a date here implies that this day is important and that the auction can't take place on any other day besides Halloween.
I'll eat my hat if this auction doesn't have Halloween town crash the party.
We don't know how bad he is, so we could hardly tell him that.YES !
Then maybe knowing how bad it really is would be helpfull !
We don't know how bad it is in character. All we know is a little vague vagueness that indicates he might be bad to Xanatos, or might not. We don't know about the genocides, or the plan to murder all humans. We don't know about the "is made of magic". What we do know paints Toffee as a lot more harmless than he really is.
We might not tell him about Star by name, but the "princess of another dimension" part is really important to explain the narrative, otherwise it wouldn't make sense. And that's who Toffee wants. (He also wants to murder everyone on earth, but we don't know that.)
Because he is not directly interfering he's using a proxy to attack the magical community which is divested from the public it's not going to leak there. Why? Why would Toffee decide to just completely crash and burn his earth holdings to nuke the auction? There's no fucking way Doof would be the reason why.
It did.
Seriously though I feel the auction option should have contained the mention of it happening on Halloween.
Xanatos sent you an invitation to an 'auction for esoteric items' this Halloween
It was an occult quest in the September/October slot. Personally, I figured it would be self-evident.

Sadly "Nightmare Before Christmas" characters are part of the DVV classic setting.I'll eat my hat if this auction doesn't have Halloween town crash the party.
Halloweentown, not Halloween Town. You've already met Kalabar.Sadly "Nightmare Before Christmas" characters are part of the DVV classic setting.
Where are we on Twitches for canon?Halloweentown, not Halloween Town. You've already met Kalabar.

Were you expecting to bargain with supernatural entities and the mystical movers and shakers on Labor Day?
EDIT: Oh, and MiH did say it was Halloween. Convenient.
Personally, I'd love it if Toffee attacked the auction, particularly when we have such high-intrigue people as Russ and Xanatos to figure out who did it. Then we could give Xanatos a lot more solid evidence that Toffee is bad than we have right now.Because he is not directly interfering he's using a proxy to attack the magical community which is divested from the public it's not going to leak there.
most likely he doesn't know we're coming we're just the unexpected bonus
