Hm, we can work with that. He seems fairly subtle and his Earthly ambitions are likely limited. We probably can't muster the leverage to get him to do something he wasn't willing to do anyway, but he seems to like things, well, 'normal.' A potential counterweight to Bill Cipher, though likely to be fairly indifferent to any power struggles we may have against any lesser Earthly opponent.
Ironically the villain from arguably the most magic focused setting is probably the most anti-magic

Would you mind expanding on that? I haven't watched the show.

Oh, Doof absolutely would deface it in a heartbeat. But I get the feeling if someone protested loudly enough he would cave in.
Yeah. But I actually like the idea of playing Doof as being specifically obsessed with ruling specifically his designated Tri-State Area with its nice neat rectangular borders.

Why is Shego his 'rival?' Because she has half of one of his states. If he could make her give that up he'd no longer feel like antagonizing her, but until she does, he does, and she won't give it up because her capital is in it.

Does Doof aspire to national or world domination? I mean sure, in theory. But only in the same sense that a middle-aged homeowner may be vaguely interested in building that patio extension and yet never get around to it for all the years of the rest of his life. Because tinkering with his -inators in the basement is just plain more emotionally satisfying, and the bare fact that he has a patio to extend makes him feel pretty good about himself, y'know?

So what about Mount Rushmore? Not in the Tri-State Area. Not his concern. If he wants to carve his face on a mountain- and he surely does- he won't use Mount Rushmore. He'll do his own carving, standing alone above all others.

He'd probably carve his face in the most prominent mountain(s) in the Tri-State Area. Like Mount Elbert in Colorado. Except, wait, that's in Shego's territory! CURSE YOU, SHEGO!!!!*

Or he could go for the most famous mountain in the Tri-State Area. Pike's Peak in Colorado, except, well, it's DEFINITELY in Shego's territory, CURSE YOU SHEGO!!!

He'll probably settle for a few prominent mountains in Wyoming, which are at least large if obscure and if not as prominent as Mount Elbert. :p

*(Note, may not actually quite, technically be in Shego's territory, but it's funnier that way).

Would you mind expanding on that? I haven't watched the show.

While I haven't watched SvFE myself, I do know that Toffee either hated magic or just wanted it to go away.

If memory serves, I believe I also heard people say that Star said Toffee was right, in the same time frame where she did indeed get rid of magic. By destroying the actual realm of magic.

... also, making a note. Make sure Toffee and/or Star never destroy the realm of magic.

Would you mind expanding on that? I haven't watched the show.

I could fill a book with Toffee's motivations, his goals, and his personality, and that's before I even get into stuff specifically canon to DVV Gridlocked or indeed whatever Cmoon might be planning in his quest. He's one of my favorite villains and a lot of stuff we know about him comes from inferences and putting together vague hints in the tie-in books and implications of things Toffee has said and done. Simply put, he has little reason to bother Doof or get in the way of what Doof is doing... for now.

OK, well I'm not asking for a book, but at least a few paragraphs about the broad outlines of his canon personality would help a lot.

With guys like Syndrome and Judge Doom, I at least know enough about them to be able to make educated guesses. Shego, likewise, I know her personality well enough to have a rough clue of how she thinks. The Zaibatsu in California? They're megacorps, I know what a megacorp is.

But what this Toffee guy might be like? No clue.

Toffee is an immortal who depending on when he won is either a semi civilized warlord who I'm pretty sure gave his minions the same immortality OR an immortal and cynical master planner who can anticipate and manipulate the people around him easily enough to take over someone else's operation with pure charisma and the right words at the right times.

I'm probably forgetting or misremembering some details but if he's from after Moon cut his finger off, he's probably not going to bother us. He's basically an immortal buisness lizard.

Okay I'll try to give a basic overview

Basically the series starts with Star, Princess of Mewni (a dimension populated by an offshoot of humanity referred to as Mewmans and a species of sentient Monsters), is sent to stay on Earth for a few years to avoid Ludo, a Monster with his own small army of minions who desperately wants to get his hands on the Royal Family's Magic Wand that Star has just inherited but is far too stupid and comedic to ever succeed

Eventually Ludo decides to hire on a new advisor named Toffee, an extremely competent, strategic and charismatic Monster with the power of regeneration

It's soon revealed that Mewni doesn't have as black and white a history as Star was raised to believe, Mewmans good, Monsters bad, with Monsters being the original inhabitants of Mewni and the Mewmans moving there and using the Royal Family's magic to force them out of their homes, take their land, prevent them from having any real organisation and carry out the occasional genocide and understandably Monsters have been bitter about this ever since, especially Toffee who unbeknownst to any of the characters had been alive since Mewmans first came to Mewni and was a major general in the Mewman/Monster wars

Long story short Toffee enacts a coup against Ludo, takes Stars best friend Marco hostage in a way that she can't beat and when she offers Toffee the Wand in exchange for Marco's life he laughs and says that he doesn't want the Wand he wants her to destroy it, she does so and seemingly kills Toffee in the explosion but in reality his soul/consciousness was actually sent to the Magic Dimension (the source of all magic) where he began to corrupt all Magic with the intention of destroying it since he believed that Magic was the only reason Mewmans had gotten away with everything they'd done

Despite dying before he could accomplish his goal he ultimately won because by the end of the series Star became convinced that magic had done more harm than good and destroyed it herself

Depending on how things went in this timeline there's also Eclipsa to worry about but she's a whole other can of worms

The clear answer for Mount Rushmore is to turn the faces into a flying fortress that shoot giant lasers from the eyes of presidents. Then maybe give it to the US government so they aren't mad about us turning it into flying patriotic fortress. Then just give the land and sacred mountain, minus faces, back to the natives.

Let's try to do this without spoilers then.

Toffee is a 'Monster', a broad term which Mewmans, a magical race of people from the dimension of Mewni, use to basically refer to 'any sentient being we don't like'. He has fought against the Mewman royal family for, at minimum, decades. Possibly centuries, as he is both immortal and can regenerate from almost any injury. His primary goal is the destruction and/or subversion of the god-teir magic the Mewman royal family has been using to keep power for generations.

He is subtle, calm, and ruthless in pursuit of his goals. He is more than happy to let individual monsters die if it accomplishes his goals of improving the state of monsters as a whole, and he hates the Mewman royal family with a passion due to the defeats he has suffered at their hands. He prefers to operate from the shadows, propping up others as catspaws and tools, until it is time for his master plan to unfold. He is calm, collected, and indulges himself only when he is certain he has already won. Humanity, for now, is unimportant to him. He cares nothing for them, but also will not hesitate to kill anyone who gets in the way of his actual targets.

Side note I really do recommend Star Vs, its a great show and seasons 2 and 3 rival Gravity Falls in quality.

If SvtFoE Mewni vs Monster problem is really an allegory for our own treatment of Nstive Americans, then being seen as someone who is trying to right the problems caused by former government might endear us to Toffee. Or at least towards Star and Marco since they were trying to fix the injustice ever since Star learned of it.

Good inator: The Caricature-inator!
Do you ever find people difficult to understand? Do you wish you they were simplified to their most broad features? This machine fixes that! All numbers in hero traits are doubled for this turn as people act as exaggerated versions of themselves.

Bad inator: The Nerve-Inator!
No more will we be plagued by an irrational fear of bats and completely rational fear of vending machines! This machine permanently makes the people of Doofania stand a little straighter. In the short term, that unfortunately means our employees will demand vacation time. They are only able to take personal actions this turn. In the long term, whichever action currently has the highest DC has its DC reduced by 5% as the threat of such an insurmountable challenge becomes COMPLETELY SURMOUNTABLE.

Neutral inator: Stimulant-inator!
In an effort to increase workplace productivity, the breakroom coffee-inator has been swapped out with this NEARLY IDENTICAL COPY. The first hero to drink from it is instantly filled with energy and zeal that must be put to use immediately. Instantly undertake a random action with a random hero unit, adding all relevant bonuses.

Failure
Major Monogram's attempt to crush organized crime within your borders saw some initial success though it turned out that the criminals were better entrenched than he had expected. In lieu of drawn-out fights with Normbots and OWCA agents, many of them simply picked up and left for new safehouses. Francis did manage to at least foil a few crimes, including an attempted power plant takeover, albeit with the culprits absconding. On the upside, his work meant that you had a good idea of who was operating in or near your territory, which was very useful when you started to...

Hego may have been a bit dimwitted but he certainly had what it took when it came to administrating. He was able to hammer out a benefits package in no time at all that would ensure all of your citizens and employees are well cared for, with a phenomenal dental plan, three weeks of vacation in the tropics per year, and all sorts of other benefits that were lacking in OWCA's internships- or even some of the FBI's packages, for that matter.

Agent Russ has done good work and sent you a full report on the state of Doomtown. Your scientists' work in AI research went… okay. You honestly can't think of a better way to describe it than that. You didn't make any groundbreaking discoveries or uncover things that are immensely exciting, they just managed to barely lift you to the next level of research. Your next generation of AI will be capable of holding an actual conversation without sounding like a stilted weirdo, and they can handle a few more complex ideas without defaulting back to uselessness, but true sentience still seems to elude you. There must be some way to break through the thought ceiling...

Decent Success

You decided to be scientific about this. You tasked some interns to bring together every strange news report or police file they could, then filtered out anything that could be easily explained (like weird noises in old houses) or seemed irrelevant (like UFO sightings). The result was… very interesting.

You can confirm with some certainty that the Pacific Northwest is a hotbed of weirdness, especially a roughly-triangular section in the center of the region. Strange sightings, unexplained disappearances, creepy stuff. However, you also found another center of oddities.

Echo Creek is a minor suburb just south of Los Angeles, not too far from some of the places Agent Russ was staking out. It seems pretty darn standard, aside from a weird origin story about possums that honestly wouldn't sound out of place in Drusselstein. But a few years ago, it exploded with strangeness. Weird police reports that no longer exist as far as the officials are concerned. Dozens of news articles that can 'no longer be found' online. More anecdotal evidence of weirdness per square mile than even up in Oregon, unless of course someone has a rational explanation for raining narwhals and naturally occuring cupcake-shaped crystals. Then, not too long ago, everything just… stopped.

Whatever was going on seems like it's either ended or has at least managed to keep itself quieter than it used to, and so this seems like a much less foreboding option for supernatural research than, you know, that place where a bunch of people keep mysteriously disappearing. Send someone to investigate!

Awkward Failure

L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. had really no idea where to go with inducing superpowers so they were basically throwing science at the wall to see what stuck. This… did not work out as well as they had hoped. It turns out that most of them weren't willing to take a bath in radioactive waste or throw themselves into a vat of chemicals, and their attempts to do this to Coyote only resulted in hilarious incidents. When you came in to check on them, you were surprised to find Rodney sitting upside down, his head now the size of a yoga ball, with a very discontent expression on his face. It looked like they were trying to make him smarter! They succeeded… sort of. He's not a super genius or anything but he should be slightly more competent as the rest of L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. combined. Unfortunately he won't be doing any more fighting or heavy weapons tests anytime soon.

L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N.'s Learning has been raised to 14! L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N.'s Martial has dropped to 3! Rodney is now slightly smarter than the rest of the scientists combined, but considering who you're talking about this isn't saying much!

Thankfully your schedule wasn't too busy these last couple months, so you got to spend some quality time with your daughter! Norm's suggestions back in Drusselstein panned out, and Vanessa was rather pleased when you offered to play a game of Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons with her. Apparently it is cool now. Who'd've thought. You should be able to make this a regular thing!

You can't play DD&MD with only two people! And Vanessa still doesn't want you playing with her normal friend group, so you'll need to start your own game. Which other people do you want to invite? This will not take a personal action!

Oh, this is so exciting! Your head is thrumming with brand-spanking-new ideas. Thaumatic resonation, Resons, Ley Lines, and more! You're probably not going to be slinging spells in the next month, but you think if you keep at it you should develop a rudimentary understanding of basic magical principles.
Reward revealed: Doof gains a (low) Occult stat
(41/150)

[x] Visit the Memorial
35

You, Major Monogram, and every OWCA agent that could make it spent a quiet hour reflecting at the Perry the Platypus Memorial Park. Thanks to recent breakthroughs with Francis, there was no yelling, or blaming, or arguing. Just a quiet moment to reflect, and remember.

You still remember what happened. A year ago today. After the last explosive failure, you had decided to hide the self-destruct button on your next Inator. You wonder sometimes, if you had made it a little more obvious, or if you had hidden it just a little better, if you had done anything but put it where it could be pressed without either of you noticing… would things be different?

There's no way to tell.

[x] Acquire tickets to the Kronos gala
62
The gala actually sold out earlier this month, but thankfully scalpers are still very active and for you money is very little object. You managed to get the good tickets- nothing like the packages Shere Khan or Syndrome's 'special guest' will be getting, you're sure, but it gets you in the front door and into the sections restricted to the fancy people. You're set for a good hotel and airfare, and also managed to get a ticket for a +1! That means you can bring a friend all the way into the center of the gala! Or… conspirator, depending on if your plans for the evening work out.

Unlocked for turn 6 (November/December 2015) Quest: ???

Goofy
[ ] Bond with Max
82
Goofy used one of his days off to take a nice trip with Max out east to see some of the sights. Crisis was averted as Max refused to stop at Bueno Nacho for lunch, and a good time was had by both as they saw all sorts of little roadside attractions and spent time in hotels. All in all, it was a good trip! When it was done, Goofy had even convinced Max to start working for you as an intern!

113/100: Max unlocked as a Hero Unit!

Genghis Khan
[ ] Learn English
94+10=104

Temujin is making astonishing strides with his new instructor. You're really amazed how far he's come, he's issuing threats in full sentences now. You think it shouldn't take much longer until Genghis is able to interact with the world in a much more meaningful way. You also think it might be a good idea to get the contact information for this 'Professor Von Drake' after the lessons conclude. You had the name wrong before.

Reward revealed: Genghis Khan becomes fluent in English, some stats may increase: 198/250

Norm Prime
[ ] (Martial) Take down Inquinator
Norm: 69+36+8=113
Inquinator:99+16+10= 125

Norm's attack on your nemesis seemed to be going perfectly! He was pretty handily beating the stuffing out of the shabby vulture until something happened that no one was able to explain. The most likely explanation is that Inquinator got a lucky hit in that was just severe enough to make Norm reboot. He used this opportunity to push him down the stairs and make a break for it!

"THOUGHT I WASN'T GOING TO FIGHT DIRTY, DID YOU?! YOU WERE WRONG! AH HAH HAH HAH HAH!"

Inquinator has escaped! His evil plotting will continue until you successfully complete a Nemesis action to take him down!

Dennis the Duck
[x] Search for Donald
13
Dennis asked people all around Doofania if they had seen Donald and put up lots of posters to help his search. Unfortunately he tended to put those posters up within the same square block, and didn't really make any progress in locating where Donald was. You're fairly certain he's not in Doofania though.

Genghis playing, now that he's somewhat fluent, could help his English!
Also, WoG from the GM, Max can't play because this is deciding who 'was' playing in the month leading up to Max's start date.

Looks like we lost more martial in LOVEMUFFIN than we gained in learning, but hopefully the national action we unlocked won't have a DC of ??? now that we have a better idea of what we're doing.

As for inquinator, he got a 99, so hopefully round 2 should go in Norm's favor. Just need a few more turns to get occult, and a few turns for Vanessa to become a hero unit and Genghis to fully learn English.

Well that actually went pretty well, sure we didn't succeed on the crime action but it didn't backfire and it might make things a little bit easier next turn and LOVEMUFFIN getting better at Learning is great and they were never going to be amazing at Martial anyway

Btw for those that don't know Echo Creek is the town from Star vs

Huh. The self-destruct button was pressed without Perry or Doof noticing...? Seems suspicious to me.
