On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

@EVA-Saiyajin your plan More Dramatic to Sprint Last is missing an indent on Rune Metal. And with Hi Ho! do you intend to use the Heart on the banner, because if so it isn't specified.
Thank you and no. Wouldn't be able to get enough support right now. Perhaps next turn I, or those of a more persuasive nature, might be able to convince people.

If we use it for a banner, I'd prefer a Valayan Healing banner, not a fuck-daemons under the eyes of the ancestors banner.

Funny thing is, the Rune of Dismay is actually a weapon rune. Hehe. It totally feels like something that can be a Banner or Talisman though right? (Plus, the Rune of Cleaving -- another weapon rune -- has its fluff say how it was made for drilling first. And yet now its a weapon rune. So.)
That is unfortunate. It wouldn't be something you'd wanna chuck on a super healing banner anyway, but an army healing banner would be perfect for it. The weight of an Ancestor God weighing an enemy down while the MR of Valaya and Rune of Fortitude buff up the Dwarven Throng with healing.
Well, there's the actual Ancestor Rune in the Banner Runes... Mechanically and cost-wise it's the least of Banner runes, and is a one-use thing. Buuut, maybe going just by the fluff for it?

"In adversity, Dwarfs look to the runes of the Ancestors and remember the duty that is now their own to bear."

Plus, just... it's a rune that's called "Ancestor Rune"! It'd be a bit lame if some runes never get used just because on tabletop they're not mechanically exciting.

I want to be able to use runes because they're cool, too. Because I want to string together the meaning and words of the Runes.

give the heart to the griffon king
secure alliance of griffons-dawi for millennia
show up those poncy elves and their pegasi

Just going to out and say it but screw 'for the Hold' reasoning for every single argument in regards to absolutely everything we do.

Almost everything we build is for others to use, not Snorri himself. (Gift-Giver is his title, even.) The rune golem idea wouldn't be something Snorri himself owned after he built it, for example; he'd certainly sell it. Now that the research on the heart is done, there's nothing we can use it for except to build something.

Also, nothing about my argument is related to what actions we should take this turn.

Well, that works. Doesn't fit the idea I had though, with the Valaya/Fortitude combo probably giving regeneration. A 'generic' ancestor rune fits with the dismay idea though. Not sure what we'd put as the third rune for the ancestor rune + dismay combo.

One more plan. I want to see just how far we can take Healing. If putting it on a Rune of Healing in a banner would allow for army-wide healing of up to broken bones (and presumably help treat extra serious wounds/keep others alive) imagine what a second would do along with the Master Rune of Valaya. Might even get up to regular troll regen army wide. Or perhaps a Rune of Fortitude instead of a second Rune of Healing, to help keep people alive and then heal as opposed to just healing.

The idea would be to go all in next turn to finish the Underway with overflow still.

[X] Plan A Banner fit for Valaya
-[X] Teach your apprentices
-- [X] Release them
-[X] [Simple] The Underway: 1 Snorri action, 2 Apprentice actions
- [X] [Difficult] A Higher Standard Pt. 1: You've gazed upon the face of the Ancestors a lot in the past few years, especially when you were making your alchemical flame spitters, and it's inspired you. A banner to rally behind, something that dwarfs will look to and fight all the harder with it at their back. A banner worthy of the hold of Kraka Drakk to be held aloft with pride by an equally worthy standard bearer. [Cost: 1 action] If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you.
-- [X] Four Actions
-- [X] Master Rune of Valaya, Rune of Healing (Greedy One's Heart applied) and Rune of Fortitude

If people would prefer a second Rune of Healing instead, so we guarantee the runes are both under the aegis of the Master Rune of Valaya, please tell me.

Because having something like this now for the Great Throng would be amazing.

I would honestly prefer to study/research the Silver Wutroth before we do a banner. I wouldn't mind studying the specific runes as well, but that might be too much trouble.

For all we know the Wutroth will enhance any runes we use with it. That might mean we don't need the second Rune of Healing, so you could chuck on the Rune of Fortitude.

If you make a plan for studying it away (3 actions proccing) I'll vote for it. Same deal with the others, throw everything we have at finishing and overflowing the Underway next turn.

Has anyone considered the Grand Throng might be a bad thing? Sure in a more peaceful time, it would be great, but with the Great Incursion about to hit, the Holds that send out their Throngs are going to be missing that lost dawipower real fast. Sure whatever the Grand Throng and Grimnir hits will cease to exist, but no matter how big the bucket is, you can't put out every fire with it.

I can't think of an argument against that off the top of my head, certainly.

The issue is: it's based on meta-knowledge and an Ancestor God is calling for it. Nothing we can do but hope and work.

Really, the only hope I have for it is that if we clear the underway the Great Throng will be able to come to our aid if it's needed relatively fast. Plus I trust the defences Snorri has installed. The other holds might just be kinda screwed if something happens though.

I suppose one could argue that having a banner of super healing would be ideal in keeping the Great Throng as intact as possible for when the real party starts.

The Great Throng is not necessary in times of peace. But there is a certain risk in the whole matter, that is correct.
