On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

[X] Plan The Shine of Metal and Blood

Works for me.

By the way, @soulcake, at what point is the grudge considered avenged? Does it require the total destruction of the trolls, or is it 'merely' an eye for an eye situation (i.e. slay an equal number to the dwarven fallen).

We have to kill and harvest these trolls fast. Or else Master Yorri will appear and the dreaded Pocket Troll Tongue will once again arise to torment the world.

Probably more like ten for every dwarf but I dont think we are gonna pull a Bugman and swear to see to the extinction of Trolls before we get laid again or something.

Interesting. Both of our current open runic research options can net us 5 actions worth of work with 3 actual actions thanks to our two starting traits/deeds. We should remember that when we get around to runic research.

We're really good at the particular things available to us. Though on the other hand that might just be because the things we have open for initial research are things generated by our specialties.

No? We only get 4 actions if we put 3 in since student of the odd procs. Productivity like no other only procs on request actions not research

[] Plan The Shine of Metal and Blood
-[] Teach your apprentices. [Cost: 1 Action] Locked in for 10 turns.
-[] Khazukan Kazakit-HA!: March out with the throng once more. Raise your war axe and slay them. Battle Turns
-[] [Simple] Foundry Founding.: [Cost: 2 actions] Productivity Like No Other will proc. 2 Actions and Apprentice action.
-[] [Simple] Altar Assembly: [Cost: (2-1) =1 actions] Productivity Like No Other will proc. Grudge has proc'd. 1 Action.
-[] The Rune Metal: [Cost: ???-1 Actions] Student of the Odd will proc. 1 Action

[] Plan For the Karak
-[] Khazukan Kazakit-HA!: March out with the throng once more. Raise your war axe and slay them. Battle Turns
--[] No Actions Required
-[] [Simple] Foundry Founding.: The Foundry district requires extra kinds of Runes to be placed alongside the standard Runes of Light and Air. Altered Runes of Heat and Purification to enhance standard Dawi ventilation, speeding along the movement of hot air out of the District to the rest of the hold while clearing it of soot and ash, things like that. The hold's burgeoning Blacksmiths and Engineering Guilds have also requested your aid in inscribing the Runes of Smednir and Morgrim in their respective guildhalls as well. [Cost: 2 actions]
--[] 2 Actions + Apprentice Action
-[] [Simple] Altar Assembly: The Temple District houses shrines and Temples to all of the Ancestors. Though Morgrim, Smednir and Thungni's main shrines are located in their respective institution's guildhall and every runesmith's workshop they too are present alongside the Larger, more Trafficked temples to Grungni, Valaya and Grimnir. There is also, of course, the halls of the honoured head which serves a dual purpose as the Temple to Gazul. All have requested your aid in inscribing large versions of their patron's respective Runes. They will cover the cost in unique materials, having brought the necessary reagents for the Ancestor Runes as part of the founding convoy. Though Runesmiths hold a great sum of knowledge regarding runes, the priests are connected to the Runes of the Ancestors like only the faithful can be. [Cost: (2-1) =1 actions]
--[] 2 Actions
-[] Teach your apprentices. [Cost: 1 Action] Locked in for 10 turns.

Stuff that is the same:
Khazukan Kazakit-HA!
Teach your apprentices.
Foundry Founding

Differences:
Shine of metal and blood has 1 action on Altar Assembly, getting two actions (2nd from grudge) for a 50% overflow (base cost of 2 actions)
Shine also has 1 action on rune metal, I assume to try and see if we can get a total number of actions needed
For the Karak has 2 actions on Altar Assembly getting 4 actions (productivity and grudge) for a 150% overflow

Grudge has already proc'd on the Altar reducing it to one action cost, which makes me a little sad but eh. And yeah that action on Rune metal is exactly for that reason.

We need to use it to build the Best Stuff, but we can't make best use of it until we do and our home is inhospitable so there's something of a strong incentive to figuring this out quickly. But figuring it out and making use of it will first take figuring out how long its gonna take, then planning around that time, taking the time and researching it, then all the various set up actions and Requests and Orders to make best use of the metal.

Its a long Infrastructure chain basically, and a pretty crucial one, so best get started on it early.

Admittedly while we can probably account for multiple trolls ourselves, unless we have some nifty Yorri-based methods of imitating magical effects in battle or have an Anvil of Doom, not exactly battlefield scale effectiveness. All we can do is smack trolls one at a time. I mean, maybe we have time to throw up some banners since I assume we already have our own personal wargear and would be making regular stuff to outfit folks in our off time, but...

True, for the moment we're more like a morale booster and locus of authority. Plus our esoteric knowledge may be useful for something, as well as our sheer age accounting for some significant battle experience.

And as you noted we probably have some personal wargear, which will have some significance on the battlefield.

The Anvils were made by Kurgaz, greatest member of the Brotherhood of Dron ever seen. Kurgaz is not part of the brotherhood at the moment. He may not even be alive.

Research? Anyone? No? We can't spend all our actions on building up the Karak; it's never going to be fully finished. Meanwhile we'll probably want at least one of our research projects finished before the prologue ends so we have some kind of advanced tech to utilize. It'll be a lot harder to sink actions into research when things start turning sour.

I fully want to throw three actions into research next turn so we can proc our research trait to get 4 and all three topics work with that trait
