And on a different note @eaglejarl, do you mind a scene taking place in the Goketsu living room immediately after Keiko leaves? I promise not to mess with time.

Mari very diplomatically mentioned that we shouldn't sell our unborn babies lightly. I very undiplomatically agree. Just because we don't know them het doesn't mean we won't love them. Who the fuck knows what kinds of dreams and aspirations our little daughter will have? Do we really want to set her fate in stone before we get to embrace her into the Goketsu family? It's time to get our priorities straight.

You do realize that if we go on the run from Leaf, that's it, our only viable plan is going to be lighthouse seal research, right? Not to mention that if Keiko stays, she's almost certainly dead, and even if she comes with us Tenten is still certainly dead. Our first and foremost priority right now is not letting Hiashi get his way with the Hat, because if he does, say goodbye to inter-village cooperation, say goodbye to any meaningful expansion of till'n'fills, and quite possibly say goodbye to Leaf and the most influential position we've ever had or are likely to have. Preventing that from happening IS having our priorities straight, no question about it.

At the cost of turning people off of the thread...might I suggest making the next update a single, simple scene (like what @huhYeahGoodPoint's proposed) but with a lot of back-info on stuff that we should know but don't?

Seconded.

I'm moderately annoyed with this update, we had a good, at least semi-workable plan to reduce violence in the 7th Path. When we try to communicate this to Keiko she freaking blind-sides us by saying "I don't actually care about violence or death, I care about not selling weapons". Which like, sure, legit, makes sense. But maybe this should've or could've been communicated sometime in the past several months we've been living together. Even if Hazou might not have understood that this would be Keiko's objection, Noburi probably should have and we were explicitly talking this through with him before we told Keiko our plan.

Then, instead of trying to work things out with us or help us come up with a better alternative she just runs away and unilaterally decides to stop selling seals to the Pangolins. Which, by the way, will likely cause deaths as well because the Pangolins are now, suddenly, horrendously overextended.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and now we're going to have to spend an update or so putting out this new dumpster fire which we literally had no way to anticipate. Not only does this screw our clan finances, it also screws our plan to make a Snake-Toad-Pangolin alliance thus granting us the ability to secure the Snake scroll.
This is why I think we might be able to approach her later with it once things have settled down. Once Keiko isn't feeling the tremendous burden of being responsible for the Pangolin Empire's actions, she might be willing to crunch the numbers and agree that Hazou's plan is the best way to save lives, even if it isn't a utopian kumbaya.

If she doesn't want to be the vehicle for this, then she doesn't have to be. But I feel like there's decent odds that in a month or two she'll be willing to accept the other summoners of Leaf going through with it for the sake of peace on the Seventh Path.

Multiple people, myself included, did anticipate this.

Man, some good writing, it finally made me crystallize in my opinion that Keiko is my least favourite character and therefore, the worst girl. That takes really great writing to make me angry at a character.

In my opinion screw her 100 mental and ethical issues, they obviously are popping up faster than we have the skill to deal with, unless we dedicate all our plans for this month to "make sure we won't step on landmine Keiko again" and her 30-something throwing levels are not worth it anymore.

In my opinion we never did anything to justify her being near breakdown all the time.
Anyone that makes a plan that blatantly does not care that she thinks, ping me and you get my vote. Maybe she'll finally snap and become a background character that we only see when scheming with shika.

Yeah, but we need her because she's our main link to ISC.

Shika is smart enough to cooperate regardless, I hope. I really do. Oh god we're gonna die.
She has been near-breakdown since the very start of the story and remains there.
This is another bad side of this being a quest and not a story. If this was a story I maybe would hope that she gets over her troubles or something like that. But now I see a Character that has like 12 negative traits and forgot to spend the points on the good ones and that keeps causing problems. And it doesn't seem viable to keep dancing around her anymore.

[X] Lore Update: Literally all the political information Hazou should have but we don't.
[X] Defer position as Clan Head to Noburi, go on a training montage with Kagome

She was there since before Swamp. We did adopt and accept her despite it. We are allowed to distance ourselves from her for the sake of self care. But she remains family. Mentally ill family.

[X] Lore Update: Something fun and low on important info.

Because we need time to process and you need spoons to be able to answer all the questions that keep coming up.

I don't get this.

Shikamaru's an asshole and he pretty much just sprinkled salt and broken glass in the half-healed wounds inflicted upon us from when Jiraiya hit our agency with Samehada.

In summary, his CCnJ talk was:

SHIKAMARU: You stupid man. I like you, but you're worthless

Just like pretty much every interaction with him that isn't just chilling out.

(Though, its true that Keiko then wrapped our wounds shut (unpleasant particulate matter and all) with the Pangolin Scroll and is currently in the process of tossing us into a volcano because she is categorically incapable of clearly communicating [KEIKO WE HAVE A FUCKING TECHNIQUE FOR THIS YOU MORON] even the most basic of preferences to the rest of the siblings Gouketsu without a childish outburst and taking drastic action that could backfire on a scale of such great magnitude that even Kagome would recognize the danger.)
