I'll
You know? I think I'm going to relax on the boon not winning this turn, because even if we don't use it this time, the option that will win (wait until more money) is worded to mean that Mathy does plan to use it then. So people can't just keep putting it off, because putting it off or saving it for a rainy day are options and they are not winning.

next time it comes up we will have to vote for something, so I win in the long run anyways. 😁
I don't know why you'd think we'd get a second choice to put it off - this is going to be like the Liber Mortis vote, we won't get to keep re-litigating it. And tbh I'm only voting to put it off until the Karak is rich because I don't think anyone's made a proposal worth spending this boon on, so I'm voting for the only put it off option that could win.

[X] [BOON] Save it until the Karak is wealthy enough to afford my ambition.

Besides which, has anyone realized that the Library-Sanctuary-Research Institute looks a whole lot like sedition from the Colleges?
This is bullshit unless we start training new wizards there, in which case we're probably goingto need to spend our Great Deed on branch college permission, and is not the kind of thing you can accidentally do.

Theres multiple universities in the setting and the Colleges of Magic do not claim a monopoly on any kind of knowledge other than magical, and even then the Elementalists contest that claim.

Building a large library is something many wizards aspire to do, though this is much larger and more grandiose than most manage.
Making a sanctuary is...not all that uncommon for the Grey Order, though most safe houses are usually more like the Wurtbad cellar than a giant facility in a mountain.
Making a research institute is one of the things Magister Lords enjoy doing, though again, the scale is usually more like a study group because very few people are both willing and able to fund something without any significant return on investment in under a half century.

It may or may not be the best use of the Boon, but calling it sedition is complete nonsense. We were closer to sedition when we took the Knighthood.
You know, there's actually the seed of a decent Boon idea here. The trouble with the Border Princes is that there isn't really any good strategic barriers that would allow the region to hold off Waaaghs from the Badlands, which combined with relatively low value land means nobody really bothers.

One idea for a Transcendent Boon is to spend the next few centuries (or whatever sort of timeline is appropriate) building something along the lines of the Great Wall of China to create a serious strategic barrier where nature failed to provide one. It's definitely in the "might break the Karak" scale and is of somewhat dubious practicality, but the idea of turning a Transcendent Boon from a dwarf into a series of fortifications of almost unprecedented scale is surprisingly dwarfy.
We asked Boney about it before. The problem isn't building the wall. The problem is garrisonning it, and the wall would serve as a massive Come At Me Bro to the orcs of the area.
There aren't enough dwarves to do it without breaking
Honestly, my main concern for the future is potentially having to talk Belegar out of doing something that might split the Karaz Ankor. Though, we might not need the Boon to manage that.
I think if its something more than a Favor, using the Boon that way has a distressingly high chance of breaking Belebro.
[X] [WE] Scavenge the Gauntlet

I don't get the 'preserve the We culture' arguments cause what culture is there to preserve? The sort of hunter gather one? The how they act 'naturally' in the wild? Because if so that culture is already going to be overwritten since we voted to keep the We and not have them return to the wild.
Think people are projecting a native culture situation rather than a Lone Hunter situation. Its easy to forget all the We are one person, the spiders are just expendable limbs of a giant spiderblob.

That's the attitude to take when votes aren't going your way! Tomorrow is another vote, and with this Quest that is often literally the case.

If you work hard enough, the Boon faction will be as renowned as the Necromancers or the AV-Wanters in no time!

My biggest problem with the library is that there are too many factions on it, so either it ends up useless or as an AP sink, which is worse than useless.

Consider that a hug/funny/insightful abomination hybrid, as SV only lets me do one.

Not particularly engaged either way, but there already is an official branch college outside Altdorf (somewhere). Calling the idea sedition seems a stretch.

It's a hop and a skip away from being a Branch College.

A Branch College is NOT an apprentice training School.

This is what a Branch College is in this quest:

The Hochland College of Sorcery in Hergig. It's very useful to extend the College's reach into the northeastern parts of the Empire, and as a place to send wizards who are embarrassing, politically inconvenient, or out of favour.

It had the backing of the Elector Count of Hochland. It's mostly used as a more northern center of operations for wizards and somewhere to send wizards who are annoying or politically embarassing.

A center of operations, in this case, for the South. Is it good for Belagar, for Matilda, the Colleges, the Empire and the Dawi and Order that there is a South base of operations for the Colleges at the Eight peaks? Maybe, but claiming that the Great Libary WILL lead to a Branch College is a strong claim.

And a Branch College needs the spending of a Great Deed so its hardly "a hop and a skip away" from the Great Library. The slippery slope has a mountain in front of it.

On further reflection, I have come up with a flawless plan for the Boon for the future.

Step 1: Using the Deceiver, hold a sermon for the growing and untended human population about how Ranald the Magician definitely exists and deserves your worship.
Step 2: Use the Boon and our inevitable mastery of Waystones to route all of K8P's power straight to Ranald for one turn. Both Belegar and the Night Prowler will be chuffed to steal so much of Thorgrim's mojo.
Step 3: Divinely Enforced Gaslighting + Massive Power Infusion = EZ Fifth Aspect and a worthy patron for wizards everywhere.

Nothing bad could ever come of such a plan.

On a more ambiguous ambit, could we ask for the right to restore a dwarf's honor on the completion of a task? Instead of one big burst of racial repayment, instead purchase an interest in long term honor payments.

So any dwarf that feels has lost their honor can come to us for judgement and restitution, thus providing Mathilde a steady source of minions/skilled labour, and the dwarfs an alternative for slayerhood.

Like, that poor boy that felt hadn't helped enough during the battle could come to us for a task, we could ask him to carve in great detail the battle for the caldera in our foyer and thus restore his honor, keep the memory of the event, and pimp up our tower at the same time.
I like it. But replacing the slayer oath requires a task dedicated to a different ancestor god. Which we've come up with a couple options for. Leveraging the megaboon against that could be an interstellar addition.

No it isn't. A branch of the Colleges in K8P isn't
a grwat idea - there's not enough wizards for a proper branch of the Colleges - the far closer Stirland couldn't support a few wizards for a vampire research project.

The only solution is to gather scholars from everywhere and open the gates to more than college wizards or dwarf runesmiths. Make an institution large enough and diverse enough and good stuff will start popping up and if Karak Eight Peaks will hold a center of knowledge that's interesting for scholars from as far as Kislev and Cathay and Araby, priests of Verana and even elf mages on top of the above mentioned dwarfs and wizards then stuff like Bok will no longerbe condemned to be one off wonders.

"Right," you say brightly as you accept the mug of ale from Hubert, who's distributing the contents of the keg you keep on your balcony. "I call this august order, to order."

"We're august?" Adela asks doubtfully, sipping cautiously at the ale.

"We're an order?" Panoramia asks, looking away from the scrutiny she was giving your Grey Tower.

So I dont know if we've touched on this and the possible repercussions, but our duckling study group got turned into an order by imperial fiat. Given that magisterium fall on the same political scale as knights we are dangerously close to being a knightly order of wizards.
With that in mind I'd like to reframe the library of alexandria/college satellite campus. Our order needs Fortress. All the best orders have them. Look at the Ulrikadin fortressing away next door.
You want a library? Knightly Wizarding Orders totally have libraries. You wanna train wizards? Squire-apprentice system is both Darvish, wizardly and knightly. Slap that puppy under the Mork-jacking room and you have a templar order of Ranald the magician/deciever that pretends to be a secular order. Its winning for everyone. Come on guys I wanna be Grandmaster Magister Loremaster Dame Thane Mathilde

The way I understood the phrasing, it's meant to be both because it's connected, or at least that's what I was advocating for all these months now, and I imagine @TotallyNotEvil as the one who came up with the vote phrasing agrees with me?
Or am I mistaken?

@BoneyM Does the dwarf vote need rephrasing?

The way I've been reading it is as examining the design with an eye towards whatever improvements he feels could be made.

@BoneyM so, weird question, would the Gyrocopter Hangar be large enough to, lets say, receive an Emperor Dragon?
Could we ask for it to be?

It could perch on the landing pad and stick its head inside.

@BoneyM, for book purchases, can we buy some of the translations the Empire's made of the lizardman plagues they've acquired?

To call those translations dubious would be exceedingly generous to them.

Did it become something official, or was Mathilde just enjoying being in charge?
