In other words, this is yet another angle from which player choice was irrelevant this Arc.

And speaking of choices, big part of them in the ending of Salkalten was very much driven by the attempts to prevent Tullaris from getting to the Arc. From having to enter this exact scenario. They failed miserably because dice, because Tullaris rolled better. The lietmotif of this entire situation at this point may as well be, "choices don't matter, learn to roll good , scrub".
 
Well.. . That went all horribly wrong.
Like... i did not even feel the effects of the preparations.
Frederick is useless/captured again but this time for real, no one managed to escape and the more time passes the more control Alyssa will get as the demons are infinite.
If anything we are in a worse position that the start of the Arc.

As some have commented, this felt a lot like player choices were ultimately meaningless before the dice

I don't think we even have time for that. Our allies have no food and no way of securing it without going loud. We can not afford to spend much time hiding or planning

Apologies for double posting, but what about Magdha? Any chance of recruiting her? Because we still don't know of her existence and riding a sea monster back to Ostland is mighty tempting right now. Any possibility of fixing that?

In fact, I'll edit my plan right now.

[X] Find Hultressa as soon as possible.

[X] Enlist her aid to sabotage the Ark's cloaking mechanisms.

[X] Release a magical request for aid from anyone who can rescue us, particularly Tyrion though anyone friendly will do (such as Kislev or the Death Twins), using Sadrina's connection to the Everqueen, Hultressa's knowledge of the Ark and its magical energies, and Natasha's own magic and her soul bond.

[X] Failing that, what the hell tilted the Ark earlier? Could it be some sign of favor from Mannann? Is Magdha still alive? She did land in seawater, after all.

They don't really know what caused the damage, only that something did. So...it's sort of a case of OOC vs. IC awareness, you know?

We really need to get that IC awareness then, because that's our only chance out of here in the short-term.

Also, I'll be upfront, how have the Druuchi not noticed a giant sea monster sabotaging their island?

Oh, it's already snapped. Alyssa is dead no matter how else this ends. Malekith will cut her in half for this stupidity.

Everything prior to this? Unimportant. Literally summoning thousands of daemons and making a deal with one of the chaos gods? That's beyond the line he sets. He enforces that line fatally. Part of her madness is not realizing this.

We just need to survive and escape her death throws.

Not really what I mean. Sure she's dead, but it doesn't really matter if she's dead because he's turned up.

Currently, if the sorceresses are only somewhat upset with her actions then her power base is still too intact.

First of all, everyone is confused
The broadcast itself is not blocked
The Speaker is traveling.
and the news organizations are only letting in reporters with press passes.
Members of parliament are also being kept out, and the opposition is gathering at the opposition party headquarters.
Apparently the ruling party leader was not informed either

They are part of the chaos cultists, or dead at this point. She's apparently been turning the coven under screamtaker's nose one member at a time for centuries. We are unlikely to get them to actually be upset at her actions - seeing a chance for them to make a go of it for themselves though... that's viable.

They're druchi and her rule has been a shit show from day 1. You'd expect them to have started making a go at it already, especially since she's proven to be a snake and should realistically be much weaker right now.

Like I'm looking at this objectively, we're probably in a much better spot than we think and I'm not sure if Hultressa is dead...feels like if Alyssa survived then she should too, but it is frustrating to see how place falling into chaos isn't causing them to turn on the biggest person in force.

Hultressa is alive, she ran off, grabbed Gwen, and is hiding somewhere. There's a reason I'm expecting her to come out of nowhere with a centuries-of-work steel chair to bean Alyssa in the head when/if we sufficiently distract her or weaken the cult.

And they aren't turning on her because she is still the personally-strongest person on the arc, with contract with greater daemons. They are still biding their time. We either need to make them deciding "now" is the moment, or kill enough of them the coven's power is sufficiently reduced Hultressa pulls out her steel chair. (because there is no way in hell she doesn't have something she was preparing for screamtaker)

Is the military cooperating with what the President has ordered, or are they confused as well? Did President Yoon literally just decide today to do this without telling anyone else?

Hultressa's main effort there was removing the barrier to allow Frederick and the others to escape, to literally throw them as far as she could without badly hurting them to further their chances at escape, and finally get herself a lot closer to her daughter as quickly as possible while throwing Alyssa backwards. There was a lot more movement in there involved than pure destruction, actually.

...I mean frustrating as that is yes a lot of the time choices don't matter because of circumstances beyond your control and because the enemy also get to have a vote. That's a thing IRL and it's simulated in the quest. It is frustrating at times yes, but its a quirk of how this system is designed and Torroar does very well with it. Different quests opt for different dice interpretations and possibilities and that's fine, and the effects snow ball.

Or TLDR: Player choice is often unrewarded. That's normal.

Frankly we've still been getting off quite lightly.

Sigh. To be clear I am aware that this is off screen so we can't see it. But I do find that frustrating to me because if they're supposed to be so ambitious, they should have their own damn steel chairs and have been manoeuvring themselves and acting against her.

I'm sure her boy toy wants revenge now's the time dumb ass.

I wouldn't be so sure she does. Those things have a tendency to not work and it doesn't seem like its where her skills lie at all.

Yeah, for how horribly the visible rolls went... Everything actually worked roughly according to plan except Fred getting captured. If he had managed to slip the net too we would be making our final escape right now.

As did I. It looks like what she did burned most of the resources she had on hand, but she'll recover and oh boy is she pissed. At this point I don't think she'll leave the arc with Alyssa alive, given literally any chance to end her.
