Come to think of it is it really important for an Amber Wizard to physically see and experience an animal to transform into them? If not do they make like an approximation based on what they know and how they feel Ghur Energies? Like for example if they never saw a Komodo Dragon do they just look at a diagram, observe different lizards and then go "close enough"?

Vote should be closed and here are results. Hard to tell what won. :p

Yeah. It seemed like that might be the decision made. I just got to a good stopping point and figured it would be a good enough update to post. I'm trying to avoid falling into anything like the Laurelorn fugue. That was...weird. Vote closed n' all. Thanks for reading too, folks.

So quick question but some time today Sufficient Velocity seems to have changed it's name to Parahumans online is this a permanent thing or some kind of event or what?

I presume it to be the April 1st thing. You know, April Fools. SB, for instance, is currently GroundBattles, rather than SpaceBattles. Furthermore, you may have noted that trying to write out the name of the website normally has resulted in the name change automatically. It's happened before, with text in posts being automatically changed to something...humorous, I suppose, some would say. It isn't permanent.

Considering the epicness that resulted in Laurelorn, maybe 'weird' isn't a bad thing? Unless the fugue was an unhealthy or unhappy one.

I know I said I wasn't going to post anything other than my vote from now on but last night something eerie happened so I wanted to share. I actually had a dream about the quest and in it the Dirachs were talking and said Mardudd was going to die cause we weren't with him and they were going to send their army after him...and no this is not an April Fool's thing I'm being serious.

Not trying to disparage your dreams, because you might still be in some kind of fugue after waking up, but the Dirachs are the Fimnir sorcerers, if I remember correctly.

If they send a part of their army after him and away from us I couldn't be happier, because in that case their troops would be out of position to affect anything.

Honestly that is pretty cool that you had a dream relevant to stuff you read on. Malekith did things like mess with a Phoenix King through nightmares, so Dirarchs doing something like that seems on par with Fae Fairy Tales.

Yeah I know they are the sorcerers, that's what struck me as weird. Also I don't care if he dies. The guy proved himself a lying egotistical prick if what his daughter said is true about the northern clans surviving.

Omake: An Ostland Song of Victory Against the Undead
(to the tune of "You're Dead" by Norma Tanega, of course)

I looked back at it and tweaked the lyrics just a bit. Mostly changing a few of the 'outs' to 'nots'. Fits a bit better I think, in case anyone is interested.

Really though, it just makes me chuckle to think of at least some vampires in this setting up to 'What we do in the Shadows' like antics. At least Genevieve and Johanna, anyway.

April's Greetings
The Harbinger of Disaster arrived at the gates of Wulfenburg in a flurry of black pinions and horror which spread amongst the minds of all present and watching. He then revealed a small box of some sort, two interlaced circles on the front. With a finger that had gouged eyes from faces and organs from bellies, he pressed the top of the box, causing first a small click and then strange noises to emerge from the box. Oddly, his knees began to bend to the beat as he unfurled his wings and began to speak in the Dark Tongue, words slithering through ears and poisoning souls.

"Well my name's Malagor and I'm here to say: you better get ready because I'm on my way. Prophecies are fun and there's a lot, but there might just be something that you've forgot."

He pointed then, not at any citizen, but at you.

His eyes burning through the screen, to where you sat behind your computer, where you held your phone.

"There are plenty of prophecies and here's a tip: I've got some too so don't be a dip. Fate is malleable and sometimes hard to crack, but I'll do my best with one good whack: Steel will rust and bone will break, remember that nothing I say here is at all fake."

He waggled his head from side to side, letting the gore of newborn babes upon his horns drip to his shoulder and the ground below.

"Your pathetic works will surely fall, because I'm coming for you all. The wilds were ours, and will be again, from every glen to every fen. So here's a prophecy line to put after the first: Horns will clash and horns will shatter, hooves shall bring thunder to all that matter."

Around him, the Aura of Ruin scorched stone black and split lesions upon all of those men, women, and children near by. Their screams of horror as their bodies were flayed by nothing more by sheer malevolence given metaphysical weight.

"Prophecies are one thing but they're just words that in your mind lurk, it's deeds and actions that make them work. I'll come when I choose to underneath the Dark Moon, and you better believe that will be soon. I've got some tricks you haven't seen, things the author won't let you glean. Not until it's just too late, and you will face them yourselves, then we'll see what you choices make."

With one hand, he gestured to the side, where others waited just behind the literary curtain. Whiskers twitched, pointed ears flicked, grey muscles flexed.

"Now maybe they would like to speak but if they did you would balk, too much I think for this talk, so listen well and remember this, a third line for you to think about and to not dismiss: Cruel eyes now lay upon you, as a tool or to undue. One foe's foe might follow only their own cue."

A hoof smashed the box as he rose into the air.

"Which will be which, we'll find soon find out, so be ready when all the shoes drop and don't you pout."
