I don't actually remember how long they actually have, I just pulled months out of my ass to highlight the immediacy of the problem.

Are the relevant parts about the the conflict vs the Harmony:
1: defense is ground team based and does not mention ships
2: If ships are needed they are used for harmony events first and then for normal response rolls and says no dual-responders
3:The border conflict is the only one mentioning ships and only after two other parts of the war.

Not entirely.

We know the Morshadd Commune is not a Harmony front and they have minimal infiltration. The Council session made it clear that the gloves are off when it comes to protecting the Commune and possibly Tartesis from Rithe (since Rithe is heavily compromised), and that the wolfpack is completely compromised and are now hostis sentienti generis as far as we're concerned. Shoot on sight.

Licori space is going to get interesting and possibly violent.

Meanwhile, on the Sathuri sleeper ship:

"I want to kill the Lampreys Andorians."
"Why?"
"Because they may become a threat."

Months? That would have been good information to have. A deceleration burn when they count as in "interstellar" space implies much longer. Even the portion just inside a solar system would be quite slow. Since we know this is a sleeper ship we can discount some of the faster fractions of light.

e: Actually, looking at some papers on the subject, it's entirely possible for deceleration to be performed very quickly with the right propulsion method. So you can strike a lot of this post.
Ah, yes, that well-documented adherence to hard science that Star Trek Propulsion is so well known for. :V

I know that this post is feeding of another quest, but realistically, as the colony ship is limited to STL, the Andorian colony probably has enough in-system shipping to handle any threat the ship could provide, and while the Andorian Navy is almost defunct, can easily call out Starfleet for assistance- and as a core Federal sector (I assume as it is an Andorian colony, I don't remember which sector the event came from) we certainly should make sure something shows up.

Part of it is also that they're like four to six polities at the moment.

The home system's Liberal Capitalist inner worlds, the "Democratic" authoritarian birthworld that still has pretensions of being the legitimate government of all the other Sathurai, the Spacer Anarchist outer worlds, a couple of recently settled systems that are pretty much independent but still pay lip service to be under the control of the homeworld as long as the follow on colonists and manufactured supplies are still in deep space, and the first well developed system with a couple of M-class worlds that's Alpha Centauri close to the home system and told the homeworld to fuck off twice now, the second time in the form of crushing a reconquest expedition.

...And the slowboat currently deaccelerating towards a federation colony after beaming a massive "HOLY FUCK ALIENS" signal back along their course, which prompted Starfleet to ask the Council if we should make First Contact because in a couple decades it would start being a problem we couldn't ignore (Setting aside the problem of colonists in cold storage who expected to set foot on a virgin, uninhabited, world in a couple months.)

EDIT: For anyone that wants to point out that a slowboat "reconquest" is dumb as fuck, that's what everyone else thought as well, but fascists tend to be bad at war because they can't honestly judge their opposition.
A bit surprise their solar system have multiple worlds with different fractions in control, sounds like fun when word get back.
Would love to see slowboat's reaction to the size and history of the Federation and other polities as they digest the impact of its people.

So we have two FDS missions, and possibly as many as 5 Diplomatic Pushes that might hit a FDS tag.

There are also a lot of Slavery or similar tags around that just stop us from affiliating some races, most of them 10+ year projects. It's entirely possible as we start increasing our FDS commitment that a lot of their work will be on slavery, but that is a *very long haul* set of projects. Still worth doing, given how big a deal the rampant slavery in our end of the galaxy is.

I think the OSA and Dobetians are no-brainers, Felis probably depends on the state of their government if the Harmony try to take over. Starting work on some of those alliance blockers is probably useful as we want to affiliate some of those species. The Bajoran Diaspora seems almost more trouble than it's worth, but we'll probably have to chew away at that if we ever want to do anything about Bajor itself. As you can see there's a lot of 10+ year projects around and if we only have 2 FDS missions on at one time we're likely to take hundreds of years to get through just the convenient ones.

Stop: Stop
stop @Anime_Fan35, posts like the following are considered sniping and lower the overall tone of the thread. This is not only uncivil but disruptive, and as such, I will be leveling a 25 point infraction against you for violating Rules 3 and 4. Additionally, you now have a three day threadban.

Well you did need to be taken down a peg and your ego punctured.

The FDS cannot work on the Dobetians until Righteous completes their Distant Stars tag, which is currently at 13/100.

Finally, we're testing out a new, complementary approach to resolving certain tags. Some tags are marked 0/n (FDS); these tags can only be resolved by n years of Federation Diplomatic Service work. For every ship or ships with at least 6 P, that many of such tags can be worked on by the FDS. (Choose the tags during the snakepit; only tags for powers with no Distant Stars tags (or with completed Distant Stars tags) can be targeted.). Each year, you'll be able to change the ships on diplomatic duty in the deployment vote, whether to switch out ships or simply because you no longer wish to work on as many tags.

That's actually a big limitation. It means the only polities with FDS tags that we can work on right now are:

OSA
Bajoran Diaspora
Lamarck
League of Independent Felis Colonies
Shanpurr
Sotaw
Sathuri

(Hishmeri and Ittick-ka are banned until Rinward slave trade is gone.)

Of those, I guess the OSA and the Felis seem the most urgent?

I'd like to try to clear at least the caste system tag from the Bajorans; if the opportunity presents itself for their government in exile to return I'd rather we have already dealt with at least the caste system if not the theocracy by then. (Otherwise, we'd just be replacing oppressive fascist Cardassians with home grown oppressive theocrats.)

I think the OSA are our first priority for an FDS team, but I doubt the Dobetians will have their Distant Stars cleared by the snakepit vote, so we'll have a second team available. We'll have to see what the political situation looks like with the Felis at that point.

I'm expecting more tags to be turned into FDS tags when the GMs have time for another review, as I think they were rushed on this one. Consider:

Man, I almost want a Horizon interlude just to see the reaction to all their efforts to make the Amarki feel disenfranchised reduced to nothing by Lathriss' promotion.

Just as a heads up, we're preparing the Chen admiral post, but we have the MWCD and the Anti-Harmony posts ready to roll afterwards.

For the first quarter, we feel that we'll break up the anti-harmony post into the three phases (offence, support, defence) individually, that way you get to consider each component with out getting overwhelmed. In future quarters, it will probably be presented together.

Paging @brmj, and the Yrillians on the Kelsatha and, oh, anyone else who wants to get in on sticking it to the man. Maybe the Shanpurr Shepherds looking to try something more subtle?
Could be interesting. I think I'll add them to the list of candidate places for the Kelsatha to turn up once they are done with the Licori.

Speaking of which, I'm finally closing in on that damn OA segment I had wanted to do literally months ago. Could be as soon as tomorrow. After that, hopefully the next one will come quite a bit quicker...

I'm presuming that the hijacking-a-Riala in Q1 stunt to go duel the STO or Cardassians was one of their schemes. Of course, the CAS Valaia knew better than to fence with the USS T'Mir.

That never ends well for the larger ship.

Along with spurring general dissent, particularly on the whole Chrystovian topic, that seems like a HoH action.

So I think we voted to not do a task force, but we will to have to do something about the colony ship. We cannot let them continue to their target as it is an already occupied world, but turning them around is not very practical.
I dunno. We can just offer to share the colony. I mean, colonies in canon Trek tend to be really tiny. With only like millions of people, if that. The alien colony ship isn't likely to have more than a few thousand or tens of thousands of people. So why not just mark out some land on the planet to house them until we can get around to sort out first contact and then negotiations with their home government?

It was a bad way fo doing it is what I'm saying more to the GMs than to you. You can feel my passion by my italics.
I disagree, it's the perfect way to do this. If those ships were in a dedicated pool, and we rolled few HoH events, they would be wasting the time they could roll for normal response instead.

I do not think that those tags would become much harder if at all after their return, and if we reformt hem now they might have trouble being recognized as legitimate by the rest of their race. Remember, as far as most of them are concerned, the caste system is good and right, and to espouse otherwise is wrong/controversy.

Sure, I would like to see that trash of a social construct erased too, but I do believe that we have bigger priorities. Like the slavery for instance.

sounds like a good idea to me.

2325.Q1 - MWCD
To: Admiral Patricia Chen, Commander, Starfleet
From: Commodore Leaniss Larai, Director, Member World Coordination Division
Re: 2325 Projects

First of all, let me congratulate you on your appointment, Admiral Chen. We are all looking forward to working with you.

Among the member worlds, the coming year looks like one of preparation. There are several projects on the cusp of breakthroughs, such as the Joint Ancillary Frigate system, which will enter prototyping next year if all proceeds on schedule. The long under development Arsharra N'Gir-class fathership will is also nearing completion, a good decade of progress coming to fruition.

I know that mentioning that ship may be a touchy subject for many Starfleet senior officers, given the unpleasantness that arose from security lapses during the development, but nonetheless we are pleased to see any of our partners produce their own capital ship.

One peculiarity I have to mention though; the Yrillians have completed a large deal with an Orion firm to furnish suitably reworked designs for three frigates - the Emerald, Greenleaf, and Carbon.

[ ][PRIORITY] Pick Up to four Member World Priorities to change
[ ][PRIORITY] Change nothing [Weighted 1.5x]
Suggested possible priorities can be things such as:
Focus on building a particular ship type/class
Focus on more cargo shipping
Focus on increasing resources/recruitment
Set a target for Combat or Defence
Start designing a new ship
Prepare a refit of a ship

-

Through the MWCD, the Orion Union requests the advice of the Ship Design Bureau on replacement options for existing fleet units.

Replacement options: (Choose as many as you want, only those that cross a 50% threshold will be accepted. Note that the Orion Union has six 600kt berths, four 815kt berths, and four 1000kt berths, and annual income of 65 br, 55 sr, 2 O, 2 E, 2.25 T)
[ ][ORION] Adopt Project Emerald as a new light frigate, capable of being built in 600kt berths. (+10 pp)
[ ][ORION] Support development of a Miranda-B variant (-10 pp cost to a Miranda-B refit, Starfleet must refit and transfer one Miranda-B to the Orion Union as soon as the project is complete, in an Orion berth if necessary, but at Starfleet expense).
[ ][ORION] Adopt Project Carbon (2324 variant) as a new scout frigate, building in 2 years, with crew cost O2 E3 T3. (+10 pp)
[ ][ORION] Adopt Kepler as a new scout frigate, building in 2.25 years, with crew cost O2 E3 T4.
[ ][ORION] Adopt Project Greenleaf as a new skirmish frigate, with build time 2 years, cost 80-85 BR & 55-65 SR, and crew cost O1 E2 T2. (+10 pp)
[ ][ORION] Adopt Comet as a new skirmish frigate, with build time 2.5 years, cost 105 BR & 75 SR, and crew cost O2 E3 T3.
[ ][ORION] Adopt the Renaissance-A as a new combat cruiser
[ ][ORION] Adopt the Envoy as a new diplomatic cruiser
[ ][ORION] Wait to refit existing cruisers

The Laian government is interested in building a 2mt shipyard of their own to support the Egillah-class capital they operate, and allow for the construction of superfreighters and future capital or heavy cruiser builds. However, Laian infrastructure is not quite up to the task on their own, at least not this year, and the Laio are requesting help through the MWCD.

[ ][LAIO] Recommend the construction of a repair yard instead. (Repair yard with 1x2mt, 1x1mt berths will be built at Laian).
[ ][LAIO] Support the construction of a shipyard. (-11 pp, Laio Shipyard with 1x2mt berth will be built at Laian)
[ ][LAIO] Support the construction of a shipyard complex. (-54 pp, Laio Shipyard with 1x2mt berth, 2x1mt berths will be built at Laian)
[ ][LAIO] It can wait til 2326. (-2 pp)

The Laian government is acutely conscious of the weakness of their fleet, especially its woefully obsolete frigates. Currently, it is building Patroller-As, but even these are inadequate. Worse yet, Laian infrastructure and resource income is limited. What does the MWCD recommend? (Choose as many as you want; only those that cross a 50% threshold will be accepted).

[ ][FRIGATE] Adopt Project Emerald (-5 pp for facilitating technical assistance, prototype begins production in 2325Q3 at Bidva, -70 br, -55 sr OR additional -15 pp to arrange a resource transfer from the Honiani)
[ ][FRIGATE] Put the Mielab into production (-8 pp for facilitating technical assistance, 1-2 ordered 2325Q3, -40-80 br, -40-85 sr or additional -8-18 pp to arrange a resource transfer from the Honiani)
[ ][FRIGATE] Back the Miranda-B project (-2 pp cost to a Miranda-B refit, Starfleet must refit and transfer a Miranda-B to the Laians as soon as the project is complete (in a Laian berth if necessary, but at Starfleet expense))
[ ][FRIGATE] Build two Centaur-Bs at Adad Bande, beginning in 2325Q1 (Push back two Orah refits 1 Qtr, -26 pp to reserve the two berths and for technical assistance, -120 br & -95 sr OR additional -26 pp to arrange a resource transfer from the Honiani)
[ ][FRIGATE] Transfer mothballed Amarki frigates to the Laians (-2 pp for facilitating minor technical assistance; Laio acquires 2 Brieca-As and scraps three frigates, in 2325Q1, reduce the br & sr cost of any other [FRIGATE] option taken by 90 br & 55 sr (or additional pp cost by 15 pp))
PP costs for resource transfers will be paid in 2325Q3, when the Comet wave commences, and only if you do not have enough br/sr to cover the cost of this year's shipbuilding.

The Sarqel Treaty Organization is examining their fleet of three Torqui Leb Lagan light capital ships. Questions have arisen about the future of the class, and they are requesting your input. One school of thought suggests scrapping the Torquis in 2326 and replacement over time with Renaissance and Comet classes, and another favors extensive refits in 2329, increasing capability in a shorter timeframe. As a reminder, the STO has an income of BR 245 SR 195 O5.5 E6 T5.25. Scrapping the Torqui Leb Lagans yields 300br and 225sr.

You recommend…

[ ][STO] Scrap the Torqui Leb Lagans and replace with two Renaissance-A and a Comet.

The Caitian Grand Fleet is in need of new scouting assets. Unfortunately, Caitian shipbuilding infrastructure is limited, with three 1mt and five 600kt berths in addition to their two capital-grade berths. The CGF could build a Kepler, but is reluctant to do so - particularly considering Starfleet's tendency to requisition Keplers for task force use, and the Caitians' preference for using 1mt berths for larger auxiliaries. Instead, they are interested in a light scout frigate.

[ ][CAT] Suck it up and build a Kepler (-40 pp, the Caitian Grand Fleet will order a Kepler in an Orion berth in 2325Q2, Caitian Kepler will not be made available for task force duty, barring States of Emergency, for two years following completion)
[ ][CAT] Adopt the Mielab in its current form.
[ ][CAT] Adopt the Oda-Gach Flight IIc design developed in 2324. (Requires shipyard upgrades to produce at home, -10 pp to rent an Orion berth for the initial build)
[ ][CAT] Adopt Project Carbon (Requires shipyard upgrades to produce at home, -10 pp to rent an Orion berth for the initial build)

Finally, this is a minor matter, but with the Patroller-A available for Federalization, and popular with many other navies, some within Starfleet have requested a less ... prosaic name for the class. To be honest, we at the MWCD have been unable to come to a decision ourselves, and we need someone to settle the matter.

[ ][BETZA] Rename the class the Bird of Paradise, as an analog to the Klingon Bird-of-Prey but for much more peaceful ends.
[ ][BETZA] Rename the class the Artful-class, after the first unit.
[ ][BETZA] Do not rename the class.

Before I consider the options, let me just say that pp is important but these choices will define member/ally (for Yrillian) fleets for the next decade or more. Don't be too stingy on pp for something that will have such long term effects.
