Where are your "avail" numbers coming from? I think it's Req'd (current crew in active service) + current crew reserve? Or the 2324.Q1 crew reserve from the Federation Member Yards spreadsheet? I'm not going to double check this all, but Humans "avail" for officer looks off - they have far more than 3 reserve officer units.

I found I had a transcription error - at some point 13 became 3. The post has been corrected.

Beyond the Galactic Expanse

There were days when Captain Maryam Ajam wondered if she had done the right thing in agreeing to follow the Kadesh in their grand odessey across the stars.

As a member of Starfleet's vaunted Explorer Corps she had felt such a swell of excitement at first. After all, her ship would get the chance to blaze a path for future generations of explorers through the final frontier. The data they collected would fuel the Federations grow and exploration of the Alpha and Delta quadrants for years to come.

At first it had seemed to be going so well. They had encountered new space faring races and charted the paths through and around their spaces. Then they had managed to find intact data on an ancient Precursor station that had led them and their Kadeshi allies so far from home. The map contained within had led them to an ancient series of extragalactic trans-warp gateways. Upon activating them however Maryam's crew had found themselves sucked through the titanic gateway and flung millions of light years into another galaxy.

The gateway on the other side had been damaged in some ancient conflict and became inoperable after they passed through it, trapping them in the other side. She and her crew had seen so many wonders over the intervening years, fought horrors beyond imagination, and observed phenomenon that baffled any scientific explanation. As Maryam stood, looking out of the view screen at the two opposing fleets that had begun to square off across the interceding void she felt inexplicably old.

"The Nexerean flagship is hailing us Captain." Her first officer exclaimed. "Onscreen." The image resolved to display a grizzled insectoid who clicked his mandibles sharply before speaking. "We meet again Captain. I see you have chosen to ally yourself with those egregious Coilition dissidents. I will offer you but one final chance. Surrender your vessel to me and I will spare your life. Refuse, and I will bathe the starways in your blood."

Captain Maryan snorted, "As if I would believe you after the bombing of Darar and Pormon Neuralis. The Nexere have proven time and again that their word means very little Admiral. However I do have a counter offer. Have your ships retreat from the Trans-Warp Relay and leave Coilition space immediately or we will be forced to open fire on your fleet. The choice is yours Admiral Zchi."

A strange sound filtered through the connection that Captain Maryan only belatedly realized was laughter. "Your foolish sense of bravado will not save you today Captain. I will be glad to display the blasted husk of your vessel before the Primarchs as a lesson to future generations about the futility of resistance. Farewell Captain. Though we stand on opposing sides of this conflict, I wish you a glorious death." The transmission abruptly cut itself off as the alien fleet began to surge forward, their bulky armored hulks a sharp contrast to the sleek designs of the Stargazer and it's allies.

A general call went out to the Coilition ships as that leapt forward to meet the oncoming Nexereans. Stargazer's phaser banks lit up the night first, slamming into the lead ships ablative armor and burning away it's precuous protection. The Coilition and Nexerean flagships entered their effective ranges and immediately opening on each other. The ships main batteries ripping into each other with payloads flung at faster than light speeds. Ripping through armour and flesh like a hot knife through butter.

As the two armies clashed across the system Captain Maryam grimly held her post. If they were to return to their home galaxy the relay must be taken and held. To see her home planet again the Nexereans must be defeated. As her ship twirled through the stars, reaping a terrible harvest on the enemy fleet, she wondered if her actions would be justified on her return. As the two titans of the quadrant ripped themselves apart before her eyes in a war that she had helped to start. Captain Maryam Ajam looked out across the battlefield and knew the age of stars.

I might have to put this one down as Apocrypha, as we do have our plans for Stargazer. :)

@SynchronizedWritersBlock for "Dark Designs, Part 1" and "Why We Fought", choose two:

e: actually, hold up... any possibility that could be Starship Construction instead of frigate?

Are we going to simplify the Research system at some point?

Granularity has to give way to smoothness as scales increase.

[O][BV] Michel Thuir gets +1 Command for his tenure in command of Starfleet Academy

That will boost him to Command 5... hopefully useful in the days ahead.

Eh, Kirih will be enlisting as a non-comm rather than doing officer track (at least at first... I have it sorta planned out). So.

Wow. Did not expect that one of my rewards would be "don't screw things up for everyone." Then again, given the EC reroll there too, I guess it would probably end up balancing out. Also keeps me from getting lynched by the rest of he thread for tanking our shoestring pp budget.

Quick question though: Since I already get to choose Graves' first assignment from a previous reward, would selecting that reward mean that he has a transporter accident and two of him are running around? Because if that's the case I think that there might be some calibration issues with the Academy Transporters while Jean Luc is at the Academy.

We could have an entire FLEET captained by Picard! Forming a task force led by Commodore Picard! Under the direction of Starfleet Commander Picard! With ships crewed entirely by Picard!

THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES!

Okay, one take away here seems to be that we need maybe two to three times the omake rate we thought to solve the current crisis, given the relative scarcity of direct PP rewards. This is going to be tough, but we'll have to rise to the challenge.

Okay now that we have narrowly averted a potential disaster that would have lost us 10pp that we badly needed. What is our current PP count?

If we buy a tech team specialized in starship construction could it be called the soulforged techpriests.
techpriests because with Lakhept having a priest scientist class would be a nice addition to our existing tech teams.
Soulforge is the name of one of the Honiami shipyards and they are capable of building 4Mt ships so they are good at starship construction.
