Looking at the last Snakepit, we seem to have lost the opportunity to build a mining colony at Galus V. Anyone know what happened?

Shipyard Ops - 2307.Q1 - Results

2307.Q4 - The Rat Race

Did we swap the next Excelsior for a pair of Centaur-A's?
The Excelsior already started construction in Q1, the Centaur-A's were delayed until the refit design was ready. We are (almost certainly) going to start another Excelsior in the upcoming Shipyard Operations turn, too.

By the way, are the Cardassian ships going to get a stat-block entry on the frontpage like the Klingon and Romulan vessels already have? It's a bit difficult having to hunt them down in various updates as it currently is.

Looking at the techs available to us, I'm seeing a few really important research priorities.

Computers. Get that SIGINT tech and keep pressing on the cost reducer. Yes, it's weaker than the last, but it's still big. We may want to assign Starfleet Science Academy to finish the SIGINT stuff while Daystrom keeps going after the research stuff.
Lone Ranger. Way of the Elephant has amazing bonuses for outnumbered Excelsiors. That extra point of shields is huge. Lone Ranger is also showing some lesser cruiser bonuses.
Comms. Get that infosec stuff.
Shields. We now know roughly how much work getting Shield Regen is. It's quite a bit, but shield regen is a massive force multiplier.

If they haven't already learned not to underestimate us by the time the Rennie comes out, something has gone wrong.
The Cardassians were still underestimating the Federation by Season Seven of Deep Space Nine.

I tried hard to make sure that the Cardassian analysis of the Federation had a strong "true from a certain point of view" vibe, where it's the Federation viewed through maximum cynicism but the history is more-or-less accurate and the speculation is reasonable given what is known.

So it seems no one is interested in discussing the upcoming shipyard ops turn. How about the snakepit after that? We currently have 119pp available, let's assume new must-have items and the event income from the two Captain's Logs balance out and we are spending 119pp on currrently known things.

  • Renaissance design 20pp
  • 3x diplomatic push 30pp
  • RBZ starbase 18pp
  • 21 Themis VII mining colony 8pp
  • budget request 30pp
  • Comms & Xeno team 10 pp
Nice to haves that probably won't fit in:
  • ONA Research Team 10 pp
  • Academy expansion
  • Science academy
  • Affiliate recruitment drive Caitians (actually pretty likely to increase EC officers seeing that they give mostly officers and enlisted)
  • Constellation refit (next year)
Depending on their second preference the ONA team might slot in ahead of the C&X team, getting both would be really nice (we are reasonably likely to have enough rp for 16 teams).

do romulans enjoy schadenfreude? cause if so they are probably going to be getting a kick out of watching the obsidian order try and make heads or tails of the federation.

I'll get to it! Give me some time.

I believe the Academy expansion and Science academy should be prioritized over the budget request. I'll try to come up with some numbers to prove it. Additionally, if the Caitians are so close to being members an affiliate recruitment drive might be a waste.

I really like the subtle (and sometimes less-than-subtle) indications of Cardassian arrogance. This line stood out in particular:
While the above might seem to paint a very positive picture of Starfleet's numerical inferiority, technological inferiority, and doctrinal inferiority
Making some pretty big assumptions there, Cardassians :V

Being close to joining means it might be the last chance, and therefore more urgent. Or do you expect the 0.3 bonus to go away? The Amarki continue giving all their various bonus crew contributions even after becoming members, the only thing that was replaced was the 0.05 from Xeno tech.

I'd like to get every affiliate to 300 and every possible member to affiliate status to get some additional assets and the slow roll it to 500 to avoid straining the fleet.

That's basically the plan (some want to push the Betazoids and/or Caitians over 500 but I disagree). Apiata, Indorians and Orions are all getting close and might not even need a push to cross 300 because they often get events. All other affiliates are within range with a push as well.

So no interest in the Coordination Office?

Add a Member World Coordination Office under Shipyard Ops, 30pp (allow cooperation with member worlds on ship-building priorities as part of Shipyard Ops turn phase)
