I still find Leaniss to be kind of boring. She doesn't have much of a personal voice or style a far as I'm concerned. What's a "Leaniss" type approach to solving a problem? I got no clue.

At least Zhang has that she's a human convert to the crazy Honiani God-Emperor religion. You can do something with that.

Part of Leaniss's problem is that she's had a bunch of writers.

For me she's ambitious, loyal, and has a take charge attitude to her life. But she's also soft deep down and a romantic at heart.

Wait, she is? How did I miss that?

I thought we were continually putting off Zhang continually so she'd be on the Enterprises. It's immensely unfair to her to not receive an EC captaincy after so long.
EC =/= Enterprise

I'm fully onboard with giving her the Ambassador which is almost as prestigious. It is still the flagship of a new line of Explorers. However, I feel Leaniss is eminently more qualified for the Enterprise and the unique challenges it would face.

Frankly, giving a captain with Zero EC experience the Enterprise is a little ridiculous. All previous captains had served on EC vessels previously, and most on an Enterprise.

Nash's previous command was the Miranda-class USS Lion, though. Mrr'Shan was also a non-EC captain. Yes, maybe they both served in the EC beforehand (Mrr'Shan certainly), but who's to say Zhang didn't?

Edit: seems she did; I'd forgotten that.

Could just be cultural osmosis from living with adherents of that religion for two years. Plenty of atheists say things like 'oh my god' or 'bloody hell'.

I believe Akuz wrote some omakes about her experiences with the Honiani religion as well. I don't think it's ever said anywhere explicitly that Zhang converted, so you could say it's cultural osmosis if you want. Me, I presume she's an actual convert. Why not? As I said, it as least gives her a hook. (Probably in a very sophantist "what matters is that we choose to believe" way, granted.)

Both the Ambassador and the Enterprise are due to launch 2321.Q4. These are high profile media events so having either vessel hang arround for 6 months waiting for a CO is unlikely to be poltcally acceptable. In short Leanis is in the wrong place at the wrong time to become commander of either ship for their first five year missions.

Disciplinary Notices Update

Board of Inquiry into the loss of the USS Kumari (NCC-2005) in Action at Exar Draconis system
The loss with all hands of the USS Kumari was duly investigated by the Starfleet Tactical Command's Battle Review Division, which impanelled a Board of Inquiry under Captain Mei-Li into its loss alongside the offices of the Starfleet Judge Advocate General. After a thorough review of the sensor logs of other ships in action, reviews of bridge telemetry, and a tactical analysis, the Board of Inquiry has found Captain Rebecca St-James and her senior staff performed their duty to the highest standards, and the USS Kumari was a casualty of main force.

that looks a lot less that what it felt like

but still pretty good year all round (apart for a few minor hick-up`s)
