Well, of course you don't. Oneiros has been keeping all the (non-combat) rolls behind a screen for a while now. Remember when T'lorel almost got into a sing-off duel with that race she had First Contact with, only to swap out last minute? Wanna bet that was her special ability proc-ing a re-roll?

...Not that you care or anything. Just saying...
It happened once or twice over 20 turns, I'm sure. You remember all the times she didn't have a reroll for mapping, or disaster relief or distress calls?

Two things - one, currently doing a quick and dirty post to list position changes. Two, I've also never told you where re-rolls come into play, or, for that matter, what results came about because of failed actions.

I will divulge that for Explorer Corps missions, because they are higher risk, higher reward, will come with a DC of either 9, 12, or 15 (yes, this means rolling with Enterprise is exactly as hilarious as it sounds).

Honestly, thinking it over, year, they're going to stay with Nash for one more 5YM, (Most trek goes 7 seasons, so two 5YM) though Commander Mrr'Shan is moved up to XO

Nash better get fast tracked to something. She'd be happy as captain, and we need to have something for her to do afterwards.

Improving the Kobayashi Maru?

Only TNG, DS9, and VOY were 7 years long. And none of those ships were on 5 year Missions. :p

Really, it was just TOS that used the idea.
Also, in that case, we'll probably want to reduce the FYM program or upgrade it to a 150YM (75 with 1 way wormhole/plot magic) with dedicated extra-long range explorers exploring the Delta Quadrant.

MUHH DOLLIES! *cough*

Seriously though, I think we can get another 5 years out of this crew. I mean Zaardmani /autopasses scanner rolls/

As far as Nash goes, I think there's a non zero chance she'd stay on that chair until they pry her loose when they send Enterprise to the breakers (Or she gets exploded). Remember she's like 36. I mean wow, she's got a LOT of productive young years left in front of her. If HARRIMAN HADN'T MISPLACED KIRK, he'd be telling her to stay in that Chair too > : P

"Why you gotta keep bringing that up?"

I don't want to keep Nash in the Enterprise's chair forever. She's a talented office who will no doubt be of great use in the future. But we can another good five years out of her where she is.

"Captain ka'Sharren, you are hearby prom-" "Nope." "But you've more than earn-" "Nuh uh." "Pretty please?" "REJECTED." :D

How about this family of ships? I used some design techs this time.

Stats: C6 S4 H2 L3 P3 D3

Cost: 90br, 55sr, 2 years

This one is, for all intents and purposes, a pocket cruiser. It's intended to punch above its weight while not running into militarization issues, unlike the Defiant. To save weight, it uses the roll bar of a Miranda and the secondary hull of a Constitution.

Stats: C6 S5 H5 L5 P5 D5

Cost: 180br, 100sr, 3 years

This one keeps the combat ability of the Peacekeeper, but has improvements in all other areas to make it a versatile, well-balanced ship. To save weight, it uses the roll bar of a Miranda and the saucer section of an Excelsior.

Stats: C6 S7 H6 L7 P7 D7

Cost: 300br, 160sr, 4 years

This one has the same combat ability as the Libra and the Peacekeeper, but is better in all other areas than either to make it more survivable and more suitable for exploring. To save weight, it uses the saucer and secondary sections of an Excelsior. It is designed to keep within 3mt of weight since that is the largest tonnage of berth we have.

I like that we're essentially doing literally kitbashing. It turns out that kitbashing models for the show was an IC thing! Not at all a cost saving measure for a TV looking to save on Do$h

Omake - A Congratulatory Call - ClawClawBite
I spotted something on the personal list, and was inspired (and hopefully what I saw meant what I thought it was).

Omake: A congratulatory call

In a meditation room overlooking the sands of Vulcan, a chime echos in the thin air. It has a deep and rich tone, clearly different from the default sound of a normal incoming message. The sitting figure sweeps back her wavy hair, and turns to face the unobtrusive viewscreen set in a recess of the wall, prassing a hand over a small panel.

The only slightly craggy face on the monitor was impeccable, as always. When he spoke, his voice was measured. "I have just been informed that you accepted the position. Admiral Seruk did not consult with me before putting your name on the shortlist, but I would have recommended you if I had been. You are ready.

"I know you will compare the relationship you have with your captain with the one I had with mine. I trust you will not let that affect your role on the bridge. I know you have learned a lot both from him, and from me, but this is also the time, more than any other, for you to discover who you are as an officer."

She saw the slight raise of an eyebrow, the lessening of tension in the corner of the eyes, and read pride in a face that only a handful of individuals in the galaxy could read. A very elite group that she was, outside any expectations from when they first met, a member of.

She know he could read her face, and knew everything that was going unsaid. "Logic dictates that travel into the unknown is likely to lead to discovery. I will come home. Live long and prosper"

"Pease and Long Life. Spock out."

The image faded from the viewscreen before she looked away.

Another gesture, and a more conventional chime, "Commander Saavik to Vulcan Station, one to beam up"

It makes sense logistically to share components.

Edit: Added stats and costs to the post with the ships.

Btw, with one set of missions over and a new set of missions beginning, I wouldn't mind some feedback as to what people thought worked and didn't work with the first set, mechanically and narratively?
Can't really say anything about the process because we have very little info on it, but the end result worked well. As a guess you might be rolling for too many things or sticking to the rolled elements too strictly, and it might sometimes be better to either restrict possible results to those that make sense in the situation ahead of time or just pick something else rather than shoehorning something in? Maybe this has nothing to do with anything that happened though, I'm just guessing.

The crossover events were nice.

Something that might be interesting would be more event chains. Or maybe occasional flash votes when a captain asks for permission to do something or the like.

I just recently found the quest, and thought it felt very trek, with lots of strange phenomena in space, and The Federation pulling off ridiculous science tricks while doing well by doing right. I liked the formatting of a few quick log entries interwoven for the exploration missions. I thought it was enough to build some suspense but still resolve.

Quest complexity, from looking in but not participating, seems good. There are serious discussions of different options with good reasons to pick all of them, but there is not so much detail that general votes turn into information overload. I have not gotten into ship design, so I can't comment there.

Edit: Also, it was interesting enough to motivate me to write my first ever Omake.
