For decades into the future, Orion Syndicate remnants will whisper tales of the Stone Demon of Celos to one another, and spend the rest of the day with their eyes wide and cast downward.
He's the guy that took the USS Dryad, a Miranda, through an active battle zone to rescue people from a stricken civilian ship. I hadn't done much with him lately, but Briefvoice reminded me of him.Maybe it's just salt over how overwhelmingly this one guy who we literally never heard of before (Oneiros has just made Sadek up as far as I can tell)
Sadek is the guy who dove his stock Miranda into a Ked Paddah / Licori battle to save civilians. Apparently his name was spelled wrong before.Maybe it's just salt over how overwhelmingly this one guy who we literally never heard of before (Oneiros has just made Sadek up as far as I can tell) is dominating the captaincy vote for Courageous, to the extent of crowding out well-loved candidates like Kanil, purely because his bonus is "make this ship a better battleship."

Councillors Sadek of Atatan, Jime Okaar of Betazed, and Lethe Aelanna of Leas Akaam travel to Celos on the USS Selaya...
If it ends up being Kanil/Sulu/Ainsworth I wonder if we'll get complaints about how all the EC appointments this year went to humans.
Normally I'd agree, but we got called out for it last appointment, so this looks like we sent some poor Public Relations officer to say "Yeah, we hear you " and then we're even more human centric on the next appointment.Bah, we voted in a Vulcan and a Tellarite for our last two FYMs.
On the other hand, Sulu can make a legend of her own unburdened by that of the Courageous. Hasn't Straak done the same with the Sarek?
"Gee, what's that ominous hummm coming from overhead?"
You won't hear me say a word against Kanil's appointment. She is good captain and deserves good. Besides, one of my omake characters respects her muchly despite respecting very few people and things. And another of my omake characters, well.Well, the other thing is, we didn't bring in the experienced EC ships for their fighting qualities. Those are nice, sure, but... Our stated reason was for their ability to handle serious science checks to fight back against Licori superweapons. Samyr does that.
Enterprise:And as for the Enterprise, Leaniss is the one for her, no doubt.
Wait WHAT it's THAT GUY?He's the guy that took the USS Dryad, a Miranda, through an active battle zone to rescue people from a stricken civilian ship. I hadn't done much with him lately, but Briefvoice reminded me of him.
DAMMIT.Uh... if that's the case, I believe you've misspelled his name.
Sabek is the Dryad captain.
Sadek is the Atatan Councellor.

We make PR Officer Spricer live an unfortunate life
We got called out for it? I vaguely recall complaints, but not recently.
The funny thing is, I might actually push for Jeanette Devereaux when the choice comes up next year. Sure, narratively, Leaniss all the way. But mechanically? Enterprise already has great presence simply for being Enterprise, and the other benefit of +5 pp/year is pretty snooze - Zhang makes a better captain, and she doesn't even have a command yet. Meanwhile, Jeanette gives +1S, which is good, and +1 to First Contacts, which is also good.Enterprise:
"Demora. Leaniss. Demora. Leaniss. I- AAAAAH CAN'T DECIDE!"
I really feel for your remaining event respondents. Poor bastards are spread thin.
