They're still pretty hung up on their Manifest Destiny or whatever. I can totally see them breaking with the Cardassians, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't sign up with the Federation just yet.
That's a win for us. If they're not Cardassian-aligned, they're not a problem. And I STRONGLY suspect they're reviewing their thoughts on the whole "End of Ambition" thing on seeing the relative actions of the Union and the UFP.

I would prefer to keep the EC zooming around boldly outside Gabriel where we can. Mostly because that keeps them as an uncommitted reserve if things escalate to a general war and it keeps us meeting new people, making new friends and driving the competition to distraction.

Anyway, it would be most improper for the Admiral to interfere with where the Explorer Corps is sent outside of a State of Emergency. There is a Rear Admiral and their staff who devote their time to nothing but determining deployment of the Explorer Corps.

Defect. That's what. The Ashalla Pact gives them nothing and takes almost everything.

They got some nice torpedoes out of the deal!

Why not pacify biophage instead? It's more of a Federation thing that trying to make it into a weapon that will never work without trying to eat your face.

Make a new kind of computing matter! Make a buildings with integrated sensors that bootstrap themselves from a single egg! Make a rapid space construction system! Endless possibilities, no horrorterrors.

Violation of Rule 3 - This Is Not Even Close To Civil

Because the federation is already about 95% of the way to everything you described.

"Hey how did that battle with the Federation g--"

"IT'S FINE. WE'RE FINE. WE'RE ALL GOOD HERE."

"Golly gee there's a lot of funerals planned for next we--"

"COMPLETELY UNRELATED."

Less that and more, We were defeated, yes, but their fleet was left in shambles. they are ripe for a counter attack by the glorious Cardassian Armada!

Keep in mind we are talking about multiple polities in treaty. their communication channels, particularly between Syndraxians and Cardassians, are going to be limited. So while outright lying is probably going to be detected, them being creative with the truth...

That would be amusing.

Cardassians assume that TF1 and the Amarki force are spent, send enough force to reliably take on TF2 and the Apatia force, run into all four elements, get rekt.

Are you actually trying to justify Voyager's biomemetic gel packs as offshots of the Biophage? I'm not sure whether to be impressed or screaming in terror.

Or they try to hit on TF1, to try to knock it out before it can recover. Mind you if something like this happens, it probably won't end well for the Cardassian, but it could make it more expensive for us.

OTOH, I would bet the Syndraxians will try to have the Cardassians do something now, to try and salvage their own situation (and narrative) and the Cardassians need to, at the very least, put on a show for the rest of their clients, failure to do so might prompt them to reconsider their Client status

Relative positions make that unlikely. Cardassian forces are based further from Collie than Collie is from the battlefield, and Collie is between the Cardassians and the battlefield.

Which might force us to either leave, or send half of the fleets of each member as reinforcements.

Oooooh....

So, we're expecting the catdassians to counterattack us, right? That means they'll have to send the bulk of their fleet to our side of the expanse.

So. I wonder if we can shore up our defenses just enough to hold them off while the apiata slip in behind them and wreck THEIR entry system?

That would be devious and underhanded.

They said that about protomatter too.

Then the Genesis Planet debacle happened.

The question, of course, is if we can defend our own position WITHOUT the apiata at our side.

I wonder if we can give the cardassians a decoy target? Sacrifice a minor holding of ours perhaps?

We only have like three holdings in the GBZ, and none of them are minor. Our entry point in Collie, the rich BR mine at Sgurri, and the new Amarki colony site at Bean's Star.
