At that both of her parents had come into the room. Where they had wished their daughter a good night's sleep earlier in the evening was… something. From the waist up, it resembled their daughter, though her hair had lightened considerably. From the waist down, however, she was a spider. She lay there midst the wrack and ruin of her bed. What was left of her pajama bottoms were shreds, which were coated with slime and ichor and other things not for the comprehension of normal men.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Driders are what happens when someone fails and disgraces Lolth during a trial of advancement. Doesn't seem to fit here, really.

That was how it was originally but it was retconned into a blessing in later editions. which would explain the gender ratio as i'd imagine you'd have to be damn competent at what you do to be a male cleric of Lolth.

When does Armsmaster meld into his armor and become a warforged?
Some D&D power comes along intending to do that only to find out he's already cyborged himself up, then just shrugs and says "Well, guess my work is done, then" and leaves.

It's like people forget that Lolth set up the drow in an oppressive matriarchy.
I'm reminded of a scene in a webcomic where Lolth was pissed off at a drow matriarch enough to condemn her to eternal torment in her realm; but since she was really angry she turned the matriarch into a man first because mere eternal torment wasn't harsh enough, apparently.

Even without the Drider thing being a reward or punishment, you have to be "Damn Competent" to be a Male Cleric of Lolth.

Just imagine what the Glass Ceiling is like if you also happen to not be a Drow.

Now while it never got written the author indicated that Lolth definitely will still get the strongest broodling out of the lot. It's just that said strongest individual won't have the chance to absorb the vast majority of the defeated ones. End result Lolth and Taylor are goddesses (most likely with the same portfolios) but Lolth will be a good deal weaker.
Aww. Was hoping Lolth would just get drained herself, after a huge fight. But, then I could also see Talyor not wanting all of Lolth's problem children in the Underdark... instead nabbing/rescuing all the actually good aligned drow still down there. Though, they would most likely be very young, or very resilient.

I doubt they'd have Identical Portfolios though. Taylor is too much of a protector and such for that. I think they'd be split/altered between them

To answer both of you, it is (at least by my guess) an old dead fic on SB titled 'Demon Queen of Spiders'. And to help save your sanity Jacen1, in said fic Lolth does not save anyone. In fact it's her 'only the strong deserve to survive' mentality that ends up screwing her over.

Instead Taylor hijacks Lolth's plan to become a greater deity (Silence of Lolth). You know the time when she withdrew from everything, birthed/made a ton of broodlings (each with a bit of her divine essence) that all fought to find the strongest ones. The strongest ones consumed a chosen one (a drow priestess) and used her as the template for Lolth's new form. Of course at that point they would consume all the defeated broodlings to regain Lolth's full might etc.

However, Taylor mentally connects to the broodling free-for-all and starts gobbling up/absorbing the dead/defeated broodlings slowly but surely becoming a demi-goddess.
My issue there was more that Taylor was able to keep going back to Lolth's plane and continued to steal energy somehow without being noticed.

This is funny because I got snippets on my computer where, when bored, I did something similar. Long story short, Taylor only grabbed a chunk of power once. And, eventually, started helping out good half-drow and the like. End point, if I even bothered to write it, would have had hundreds of half-drow and good drow following the "Line" to Earth Bet or one of the nearby worlds to settle on, safe from Lolth for a couple of centuries at minimum due to the dimensional walls that Scion and Eden put up making it impossible for Lolth to realize that they were there.

So, let me get this straight. The poor little girl who, in canon, got kidnapped, drugged, used as a personal 20 Questions machine instead gets horribly tortured and transformed into a creature straight out of nightmares.

Meanwhile, the smug bitch who always tries to manipulate everyone around her sneezes her way into a state of semi-enlightenment.

Yeah, somewhere out there, the deity of karmic balance is wanting to strangle someone.

Honestly, it would have been a nice change of pace if it had been the other way around and we got cute fox Dinah instead.

Anyways, Here's a picture of what I believe is the best representation for Dinah's current state:

I also highly recommend NOT googling "Cute Driders". I don't want to kink shame, but some people deserve it.

She needs to learn some fire magic, for...obvious reasons.
If it helps any, at least back in second edition where I once rolled up a Gnome Fighter/Illusionist, Illusionists can cast Evocation spells, and one of his go-to first level attack spells was Burning Hands. So, if Lisa picks up some Illusionist levels, she will definitely be able to use a lot of Fire Magic as well.

An odd thought; with a Yokai as impressive as Tamamo-No-Mae in the area, is there any chance Dinah could be transformed from a Drider into a Jorogumo? If so, then she would definitely come out on top; Jorogumo are shape shifters that favor the form of attractive human women, after all, so she could at least occasionally pretend to be normal instead of being a full time Spider-Woman-Centaur type of being....

I mean, sure, some of fhe results are more drider than cute, but im not seeing anything particularly objectionable.

Trust me Lolth is The Lesser Evil here. Shat least honest in her Evil Ways.

Tamamo-No-Mae, On a Bad 'Day' can convince you that, Torturing a Child for Entertainment is a Righteous thing, in a matter of minutes. On a good 'Day' she takes her time (Centuries is a possibility), then lead the Vilagers with Farming Tools and Fire to Cleans you from the land and has you Smilling as you are cast into hell.
