On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

OK since Snorri couldn't get an apprentice, Kartash will need to take all the cool kids...

And regarding the Anniversary vote, well I vote to make friends with the mamuts, dragons and Albionese, or alternatively more weird stuff in the North...

[X] [Anniversary:] Strange things up here ya know, rules break and one must make do, sooner waste ale than give them a show. [Speed along Far Northern penchant to roll with the strange occurrences.]
[X] [Anniversary:] Now I'm not discounting the work of Morgrim's folk, but I can't share a toast with whatever that new gadget is. [Progress development of Far Northern Dawi preferring allies over tech.]

huh. I do wonder if Gnomes are a thing...
By canon there are some however I think a lot of people ignore that because they were retconned out of into the setting early (existing in 1e Roleplay rarely counts for much as Gazulite priests practiced necromancy back then) and then back in late in the lifecycle of the WHF setting and into a corner of the empire that people think just doesn't make sense.
If Gnomes exist in this specific timeline probably depends on when soulcake started doing his world building (which edition is canon by default) and whether he's done any world building for things that are pretty disconnected from the KA in this timeline and setting.

That tears it, I am actually going to buy their sources (modern) and look into it because it's giving Yuuzhan Vong vibes (Fandom, positive).

What is she even writing papers on, @soulcake ? I thought dwarfs didnt do all that public academic publishing, instead keeping to secrets passed on from master to Apprentice.

Not Runelore, but record keeping and written essays maybe, some she was made to do some she wasn't. To show she can seek, interpret and remember large amounts of knowledge and has decent critical thinking and an analytical mind. The writing itself is only a vehicle for her to practice maybe rhetoric and time management.

Idea for a potential Burudin challenge to offer: find a way of making adamant chain, in a way that's within reach of anyone with the runesmithing chops to make adamant in the first place. It's on brand for Snorri to encourage others to surpass his gromril chain accomplishment, benefits the karaz ankor by making top tier armor even more impenetrable, and isn't so intimidating a task that people wont actually try to do it. Offering a change to study and or make something with Thugni's hammer is a solid reward.

Though honestly it'd be in character to offer a chance to study it to any Runelord who asks politely. The hammer doesn't belong to us, it belongs to Karaz Ankor, and Snorri is merely its steward for a time. The conclave is going to be busy for us, but it might be worth using some of that time to give our fellow runelords a chance to collectively study the hammer. If we set that precedent, then Vragni's pride will insist he do the same, and that's the only way I see us getting a look at those tongs. Less pragmatically, Snorri has been greatly inspired by his pilgrimages to the rune of eternity, and it's worth paying it forward.

Apprentice wise, I'm hoping that Alma and Svina both get chosen. I think Alma's hero worship will contrast hilariously with Svina's grunklesbane, the two will get along line a house on fire. I hope Snorri takes the time to give some encouragement and advice to the ones who weren't chosen though, they are family after all...

I'm happy with us being the weird dwarves, or the friendship dwarves, Zhufbar getting airships early is cool, but they are quite far from here and it doesn't fit well thematically.

Good on you Vragni buddy!

That's how we'll come across as. Cheerfully oblivious to his rivalry with us and genuinely approving.

Then we'll show we solved Durin's Consternation.
I love Vragni, he's such a character and I love that his spite for Snorri just completely bounces off Snorri lol. I kinda pity at times, he's genuinely a great runesmith and his works are awe inspiring lol. but like, we get to drop a bomb at the next conclave.

As for apprentices, I LOVE ALL OF THEM!!!! I'm crying i love babi dwarfs. some of my favorite moments in this who fiction is Snorri interacting with the younglings and their precociousness.
