On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

If it doesn't get done this turn, there is a decent chance that it won't be done for this commision. After all, a decent chunk of those who voted for the Yorri plan did so to either try Wardstone, or do something else entirely.
It kinda depends on how many were voting to put it off purely for flexibility but still do want to do the basket versus those who voted because they want to do something else, if 7 people who voted to start the commission want to get the basket done next turn it would be enough for it to win.

Even though I want to do the basket I'm hoping at this point Yorri does show up or something else different happens next turn just to prevent it being a repeat of this exact same vote over again.

To me the problem with the basket plan is that it shuts down all other options before they even present themself. If you want the basket to be more appealing, just make a plan that puts 3 actions into it and 1 into the commission. That leaves enough wriggle room for those that aren't opposed to the basket to vote for it.
Something that should also be noted is that Yorri and basket runes are not mutually exclusive. Putting 3 actions into the basket would probably be enough to understand one of its runes, reaching 5/6 completion of dronril/-wut let us understand one of those materials afterall.

By the way folks, does anyone have any developed thoughts on what runes should go on our Fire Keeper's armour?

MValaya seems like an absolute gimme of a choice, given her status as a former Valkyrie, but I'm not sure what else should go on there. I'd like to give her runes that increase her effectiveness in her role as Exemplar, and not just make her generically tougher. Preservation springs to mind thematically. Stalwart too, although as a person she really doesn't need help being Stalwart.

If Yorri doesn't show up I'll probably vote to do the basket next time. While it would be nice to have it for the commission, worse comes to worst as long as we have it finished for the Conclave I'll be happy.

Not really connected to the current vote, but a lore question just occurred to me:

Why is there a smith's guild separate from the runesmiths? I don't mean why are there smiths, that is obviously a necessary profession and not everyone can have the Gift, but why are the disciples of Thungi not in charge of the common smiths. I mean it's pretty clear that anything the oldest and most skilled smith in the Karaz Ankor can do a runelord can do better, there are no smith lords. The professions overlap to an almost startling degree. Is it just that the runesmiths are also priests of Thungi and the smiths owe their allegiance, as much as they could be said to have one to his father Gruungi?

As relative outsider to Warhammer lore I may be wrong, but this is how I see it; While there's significant overlap between the two, they're considered separate in both age, importance, and in theological terms that they are their own thing.

Frankly Grungni probably has first dibs over smiths as god of miners and artisans.
Smednir and Thungni both has subsets of all smiths.
Basically who you worship is a lot like the css you use: You prioritise based on the most specific one to the least.

The smith guild undoubtable predates the runesmith guild, probably even predates the ancestor gods in some form. Even if Runesmiths can create bigger wonders then an ordinary smith, back when they first started appearing they were new and unproven, why would the smith guild ever tolerate them taking over the guild? At the same time runesmiths would probably not tolerate being just a subset to the smith guild.
There is also the fact that the Runesmith guild is also the Cult of Thungi. And what Cult would make itself part of some guild that owes fealty mostly to other ancestor gods (and aren't priests for that matter)
All together, it makes a lot of sense to me that they'd be two separate guilds.

I mainly voted for the yori plan so that we can take advantage of any opportunities. Will vote for basket if nothing comes up of course since it is something I want to have unraveled especially for the commission we are doing right now. Just don't wanna leave Snorri's master hanging a second time, since he probably will show up before the Runelord's meeting.
