-[]We left Ishinomaki on good terms with them. Whatever she wanted in the canceled negotiation there, we can at least speak with them on her behalf.

-[]If she tells us more about what she wants, we might be able to assist her. We have resources, abilities, contacts...

-[]Offer one-on-one discussion. Call in our favor for one-on-one discussion.
Those are new lines for this vote, compared to most popular anyway.

Though, first one can be simplified to "Offer to broker negotiations with Ishinomaki". Eh, preference. Still, not a bad idea.

Second one....I don't think it is necessary. We have been asking that from the start, and got "grief seeds".

Third one, now that is most interesting one. If we do that, better have a write-in for that one-on-one discussion, or end the update there.

EDIT: It occurs that I probably have misread the quoted passage. Ignore.

Akiko's broadcasting. I don't know what Mami is already in the loop for, but it's already quite a bit:

"I'm still willing to work with you," you say after a moment. "But I need to know your reasons. What are you trying to accomplish? What's your goal? Grief Seeds are a means, not an end."
"Grief Seeds bring security," Akiko rejoins, finally speaking up. "They're peace of mind."

Mami's faint smile doesn't waver. "Miss Mori, please tell Akiko that that may be a sound reasoning, but that Miss Tsubaki and her companions are unable to afford it."

And frankly, I don't really know if Mami can give us any insight. I'd love to use her as an IC resource for speculation, but most of the realistic speculated reasons skirt right around the witchbomb.

Dude, I really don't think she is. Mami's comment about Akiko's reasoning is in response to her explanation for needing 30 Seeds that she got from Rin.

We can simplify it, but I feel something is lost if we don't specify why we feel we'll be a good negotiator with Ishinomaki. Remember, Akiko doesn't know anything yet about what we did in Ishinomaki. She doesn't even know we went back there.

There has to be a better way to press her for a "what do you actually fucking want?" Does this sound like she wants grief seeds to you?
"Grief Seeds are safety. Security, commodity" Akiko mutters in response. "That's my answer."

Not an answer.

Third point, if she agrees, the conditional for the last two portions of the write-in won't trigger. So yes, we'd go to a new vote, I hope.

Eh, doesn't hurt.

Anyway, on third if she agrees for favor, then well. Lets make it one where Sakura gets us to Mitakihara and we have discussion in timestop, if we use a favour on it (to dodge Kyubey).

I'm not convinced that it is worth it to give it up for discussion, though.

Reformatting:

[x] Reassure Rin.
[x] Ask Rin and Sakura how Akiko is at the moment.
[x] To Akiko:
-[x] Point out that she knows a teleporter and we're fine with her dropping by whenever for cleanses or to refresh Seeds.
-[x] Offer to broker negotiations with Ishinomaki, citing your acceptable relations.
-[x] Make an argument for how the end of the war benefits everyone, including her

-[x] Challenge her with direct words on her claims of Safety, Security and Commodity mismatching the situation.
-[x] Offer one-on-one discussion
[X]If she stonewalls us or refuses:
-[x] Question Rin on Kato inconsistency.
-[x] Relay to Mami, via telepathy what Akiko just told us. Thoughts?
-[x] Explain to Akiko that extortion is unacceptable and either way she will have to deal with you for seeds or fight you.
-[x] Tell Rin and Sakura what you hear and ask to relay to rest of Sendai. Ask if they really want to go ahead with that, knowing it'd result in Sabrina siding with University, or would they prefer peace.

Bolded are changed lines.

Synchronized: Too servile with the mention of Ishinomaki and kind of wastes our favor, but it's about the same as the alternative vote.

We're already committed to negotiating with Ishinomaki. We don't agree to be her patsy to them, just that we might be willing to talk to them if what she wants from them makes any fucking sense. If it doesn't, then we can still refuse.

If we aren't going to spend the favor now, then when? She isn't going to let us use it for anything once we start pulling her group from under her, nor after we beat her up and cart her off to Mitikihara. It's now or never.

I think that Ugoline means that "speaking on her behalf" doesn't sound particularly neutral negotiator-like.

And that is a good insight about said favour. I don't think we should give it up immediatelly, but pull the travel to Mitakihara as part of the "refusal" reaction.

What he calls servile, I call diplomatic.

Is she going to agree to be moved to potential hostile territory? In a worst case scenario that's basically kidnapping herself. I think you're vastly overestimating what our favor is worth at this point. The best we can do is to get her to entertain something she finds mildly distasteful. We aren't going to get her to take large risks with it.

Well, if she doesn't want to Kyubey find out - and at least we don't want him to find out about Hildegarde, which was drawn as objection to showing seed plan - it'd be only way that the discussion would be fully open succeed.

And well, it'd be Sakura moving her and Sabrina, obviously. We'd leave ourselves open to attack first in that case, which should mitigate the "hostile territory" bit along with "ranged meguca comes in close".

She doesn't have timestop. We can presume Kyubey can spy on any action she's taken in the past. Whatever her deal is, it doesn't currently involve keeping things from Kyubey except whatever's in her head, because keeping things from Kyubey isn't possible for normal people. If we're successful enough in a one-on-one to where we feel that showing or explaining the seed is the only thing keeping us from resolving this encounter, then we have MUCH more information than we have now and we can make a proposal at that time.

e: need to head to bed. good luck everyone.

@SynchronizedWritersBlock: By that logic, Kyubey knows everything we've done outside of timestop, so showing her Hildegarde's seed doesn't matter from that perspective.

Though, it only matters if she thinks that she shouldn't reveal it now to us or Kyubey and that she has managed to hide so far, not if she actually has managed to do so in short-term perspective.

That said, you do have a point that incubators would pay attention what she does with the gems.

No, no; use your soul gem as missile to take over hostile meguca bodies.
...

Now that you mention it - our radius of Grief Control extends from our Soul Gem, right?

Put up a grief cloud to mask things, put the soul gem in a container, move the container with grief, we have our body (decoy) off center from our area of control. Enemy meguca trying to stay outside of our Grief Control radius can thus be blindsided.

That sounds rather sensible idea. At the very least, make the soul gem tunnel under earth or something.

omake:

Sabrina looks on the landscape of Sendai.

Akiko had created humongous titan from rain. Why they were fighting and why it was there was unknown. Kyubey has to be pissed, at least. But he won't interfere in his entertainment. Truly, there is only one way to handle this.

Noxious clouds billow forth from pockets. Thousands of marbles whizz past. A soul gem is tossed to heavens. A cyan octohedron forms.

As her body falls down, "I AM!" is sung.

We just have to be careful to not move too far from our body.

...If Akiko is less than 200 meters away, we could attack her this way. Maybe. Would others sense it if we use grief to move our gem?

EDIT: Of course this won't work without practice, first. Though maybe Mami can ribbon-grab our soul gem and sneak it around.
