[x] "Mami, please explain all the reasons why asking for payment like that is unacceptable. Especially that many grief seeds from a group struggling to survive." You're better than me at this. I'll probably say something I'll regret. And I need you to stall a bit.
[x] Private telepathy to Akiko:
-[x] What do you need all those grief seeds for? Three a week, five a consultation...it adds up. You must have taken in hundreds. Even as currency, I'm hard pressed to imagine how you could spend so many. If they're a commodity to you, who are you trading them to, and for what?
-[x] I'm willing to work with you, but I need to know your reasons. What are you trying to accomplish? What's your goal? Grief seeds are a means, not an end.
-[x] If necessary, either to prompt further explanation or for shock value: Does this have anything to do with Kato Setsuko?

Oh. Well that was anticlimactic. No dramatic lightning?
I just realized, now that we can transmute Grief... We can make our own dramatic thunder and lightning!
Never again need this:
Some days, you wish that the weather would cooperate for once. A roll of thunder or a gust of wind to set your coat billowing dramatically would be awfully welcome. You don't even wear glasses that can catch the light to become shiny and intimidating, dammit.
- be a problem for Sabrina! We could even make dramatic, light-catching glasses! Don't even need light, we could just make 'em shine by themselves.

On a more relevant note:
"Aaaaaaaaaanyway," the lavender-haired girl says. "She said something about running from memories and stuff. Dunno what those memories were, but yeah. Something big happened back in Sendai."
Additional evidence supporting the "Akiko and Setsuko were friends and then bad things happened and they weren't anymore" theory?

What is the obvious reason you speak of here? Not trying to correct you. Requesting clarification as I am personally unsure of what you mean.
Power, money, and survival, mainly. A meguca doesn't really need a specific reason to stockpile grief seeds, more is always better, and if you don't have to risk your life to get them, that's better still. The fact that she is gathering grief seeds doesn't really point us to anywhere interesting, at least, not compared to the other points that has been brought up.

Generally Firn gives us a voting prompt when he feels it's appropriate to do so. He'll cut off a vote, if something relevant comes up.
That's correct, yes, but this is also correct:
Well I was kind of hoping that by voting for less things we get shorter updates and more ability to dynamically react to stuff as it happens.

Vote is still open until it settles down some.

[x]It's not your fault, Rin.
[x]Please tell Akiko that that's completely unacceptable, and that she should know that. Does she actually know anyone who has thirty grief seeds? In addition, how does everyone else in your group feel about the conditions, Rin? Are they okay with this plan to...what, demand 30 grief seeds not to attack the University group?
[x]How many grief seeds does the Sendai group have on hand? Consider those being cleansed repayment if you want. But you don't need trading commodities- and definitely not as bargaining chips to end the fighting.
[x]I don't care who attacked who. It's over. No reparations. No payback. No trying to get seeds for things that may or may have happened. Is that mutually acceptable? If not, why not, exactly? I'd really like to hear the reasoning here.
[x]More importantly, can you both agree that neither of your groups is going to go after the other? No conditions. Just a ceasefire.
[x]Add in if Akiko is still being unreasonable, Rin, Is the rest of your group willing to pass up on the ability to never have to be dependent on a finite resource resource. Because Akiko Is Staining My Goodwill Towards Her.

[x] That is to be blunt, unacceptable. Its usually common in business transactions for starting bids too be unrealistic. This is not type that type of negotiation. Miss Mori's life deserves more respect than that.
[x] If you want to negotiate seriously then please come back with a genuine offer instead of wasting time. Meanwhile I'm sure the University group and I have interesting things to spend our time talking about.
[x] To UG (with Rin in earshot), Tone: Light - If things don't work out here what are your plans for the future?
[x] To UG telepathically (excluding Rin), Tone: Serious - Would you girls be interested in coming under my protection if Hamasaki keeps being a bitch? Like a partnership, no extortion and unlimited free cleanses. You don't have to do anything I say, just a mutual defence pact.
[x] Ready your grief stockpile in the neighbouring area for combat.

[x]Please tell Akiko that that's completely unacceptable, and that she should know that. Does she actually know anyone who managed to get thirty grief seeds? And no, us cleansing isn't going to be an excuse for that. In addition, how does everyone else in your group feel about the conditions, Rin? [x] Comfort and sympathy for Rin. She's in a stressful situation, a difficult position and Akiko's inflammatory comments aren't helping.
[x] Lets say we did agree to that demand, what then? She pisses off Uni and Ishinomaki, loses Rin's respect, and even if we cleanse for them (which I'd doubt in that scenario), we won't stand for further grief seed scams. Their stockpile diminishes, they can't afford Fukishima as allies, if they try to fight they'll get curbstomped, so they're back to risking their lives against witches because Akiko was incapable of playing nice with others.
-[x] So unless she can tell us why she needs so many, then 312 seeds is more than enough and she can stop wasting everyone's time with stupid demands and take this seriously.
[x] State the benefits of negotiating with us: No fighting means Ishinomaki might be persuaded to let them search the city for Kato (or whatever the hell she was looking for. She can still come out of this as a winner if she cooperates with us.
[x] So, Akiko, I'll ask one more time: Are you in, or not?

[x] While she's doing that, Telepathy Oriko. Akiko's actions are drawing serious red flags. You could use a little foresight.

So, when in danger of incoherent rage, trust Mami to keep things diplomatic.

Another thing to note is that it's been more or less than an hour since our formal negotiations began. Negotiations on hostage-situations usually last for hours. Political negotiations last for *days*, with each side repeating the same statement or demand again and again, hoping to make the other side capitulate on sheer frustration.
Yes, it'll be a goddamn boring quest if we reach that point. Just trying to offer some perspective on things.

Well, the vote looks set, so we can get this ball rolling. I'm actually kind of happy the short vote won, even though I supported the a long one. Less room for things to go wrong on the short votes, and we're not acting before we just try and get this whole "Akiko has murky motivation so we can't effectively negotiate with her" problem out of the way. I don't know why, but this vote kind of restores a liiitttttle bit of my hope that we can get Akiko to come to a reasonable peace agreement. I get the feeling that a direct approach might get a more honest answer out of her.

BTW, Firn, thanks for editing out that "if you can" part of my bandwagon vote, we don't need to be undermining Mami's already fragile self-confidence. Poor wording on my part.

Well, if this doesn't work, we're probably gonna come down on her hard next turn, but for now there is some small sliver of hope.

If she doesn't tell us anything we can use after that, she won't tell us her reasons at all.

Edit: I'm actually kind of amazed that a bandwagon vote was derailed and a new bandwagon was established so quickly, all while I was asleep.

[Q] Take Akiko's soulgem
[Q] Dunk it on tea
"Wait... This taste-is this tea? Why-Whoa, why is it getting hot all of a sudden over he-"
BAM
THUD

"AKIKOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!"

Elsewhere...

DING

"I*hic*I tried stopping her but she suddenly *hic* had a microwave, a soul gem, and tea and I..."
"It's okay, Mami. You did what you could."

A few feet away was Sabrina sipping her microwaved tea while the numerous Magicap Girls around her stare in horror.

"*sips* Ahhh... My conscience is screaming at me but a part of me feels liberated."

Nearby, Kyubey did not understand what was worse. Microwaving tea or killing a magical girl.

"I do not understand."

Why are we just asking Akiko in the new bandwagon? That seems fairly...unproductive. Try and get blood out of a stone by all means, but get something else done in the vote or we're going to take the better part of a week OOC to resolve this.

If we get stonewalled, and we probably will, we should have clauses for the alternative.

Ask her teammates. Ask the others. Try and get something else done in the update. As it is,we're just going to get shut down and have to rewrite the same exact actions today for no real reason.

We didn't even tell Rin that it's not her fault. HUG THE RIN.

-[x]Ask Rin how the other Sendai girls feel about Akiko's demands. Are they really going along with this plan? Would they settle for peace terms without the 30 seeds?
