Soo
I've been thinking of which DnD classes the Megucas in the show would correspond to ( aside from lich Mages, of course )
Here's what I got:
Sayaka is a Paladin, duh ( But in our quest she respecs into an OP munchkin Fighter/Mage )
Kyouko is a Barbarian ( because she only ever has soft drinks )
Mami is a Ranger
Homura is a Sorceress/Ranger dual class, with a High Priestess of Madokami Prestige Class thrown in for a good measure, until she usurps her Domains of Cycles and Lesbian Girls and casts her down
Madoka is a Peasant Cleric
And Sabrina comes from another edition, so she's a Herald

I've remembered that there were some D&D PMMM cosplay pics somewhere, but I can't find them and my Google Fu is weak
Does anyone know what I'm talking about and where I can find them?

Please. Sabrina is clearly some crazy ass homebrew she found on the internet somewhere and convinced the GM to let her use.

Kyubey: "I don't believe this class is as balanced as you lead me to believe."
Sabrina: "Too late, we're already mid-campaign. Bring it, bitch."

Since our QM is Firnagzen and not Kyubey, he doesn't really have a leg to stand on
And of course Sabrina is balanced
We just maxed out our Intelligence and took some decent Charisma bonuses in return for making Wisdom our dump stat
And Strength
And let's not even talk about Endurance, since we literally needed the Magi subclass bonuses just to stay alive
Dexterity is also kinda meh?
In other words, Sabrina is min-maxed in the best traditions of balanced homebrews everywhere, 10/10, would sell my soul for stylish pants and a trench coat again and again

Mami is not a Witch! :mob:

Like I said, she's a Sorceress. :V

More seriously, you'd need to homebrew some mechanics to actually account for the way grief works for magical girls, and at that point you might as well go all the way and use some of the existing homebrew specifically meant to evoke magical girls. (I know @AuraTwilight has a bunch, spread across a variety of D&D editions).

More interesting to me is the question of what kind of build each of the PMAS characters would actually make, if we were going to run a game together.

Sabrina would... probably be the DM, actually, and use grief control to make a sweet map and minis for everyone. If she did play, she'd make a ludicrously OP cleric build, but then just sit back and support everyone else and not use the build to the full potential, so everyone can have fun.

Mami would probably make a burly orc barbarian and have fun charging at people and rolling huge piles of d12s.

Sayaka would, indeed, play a righteous and valiant paladin and protector.

Homura... would have to be kajoled into joining, and would only play if Madoka was there. She'd get Sabrina to build her character for her, and Sabrina would meddle as usual and give Homura a character with good synergies with Madoka.

Madoka would go way overboard on her characters backstory, then try to peacefully resolve the conflict between the two warring kingdoms - and actually succeed because of her crazy diplomancer bard build.

And let's not even talk about Endurance, since we literally needed the Magi subclass bonuses just to stay alive

pauses from carving numbers in my chest

Of course we dumped Constitution. Everyone in this campaign is undead, so our hitpoints and Fortitude saves scale off of Charisma. Anyway, Sabrina's the squishy caster, if we're taking hp damage, we're either holding back, or something is very wrong.

Tome of Radiance is a pretty good 3.PF ruleset, though it tends a bit more Nanoha than Madoka.

Tome of Radiance IS really good; there's a Prestige Class called the Redeemer of Nine that references Madoka Magica but otherwise it's more meant to be classical; the way Illuminations work aren't really conductive to the resource starvation Puella Magi require.

ok guys, we updated Sabrina to 2.0. what are her new features again?

I just imagine her waking up college age so she can go all adult on them bickering Tokyo children

One moment, Sabrina's eyes were closed, her visage the perfect picture of a sleeping teenager.

The next, she was wide awake, though she dared not move yet, lest she wake Mami.

Still... "Hm. Upgrades."

You know, that... sounds plausible.

Think about it.
We've just achieved one of our long-term goals concerning Homura and opening her up to people around her.

Considering that almost all our physical opponents eat Grief to the face the minute we go against them, our most overwhelming difficulties were always Social. So now that we defeated this extra difficult Season 2 boss of Homu's trust isssues, it's only fair that we receive an upgrade and a new classy suit.

I mean, I dunno what Firnagzen will do, but Sabrina deserves it? And it would be ironic that despite her success resulting in better things all around she receives an edgier shade of dark blue as a result.

Since she doesn't have any headwear we could steal.

Just steal her hair. That... glorious mane, that silken banner of determination and love.... we can wear it right over our own beautiful locks. It can be combined with grief and made into a wig.

(Has anyone ever suggested the terrible idea of trying to combine grief and organic matter? Like an animal or something? Or trying to turn enchanted grief into organic matter? Can we grief-imbue an Incubator, or maybe grief-imbue a dog and/or a cat and/or a rabbit into at least looking like an Incubator?)
