Related: it's also worth remembering that we've previously speculated whether Sabrina can speak or write Witch. (Since, after all, she can read it.)

In the words of old bogus games journalism: Have we tried talking to the monsters? :V

All we have to do is play them the song of our people, and our intent is sure to get across.

"I speak Jive Witch."

More seriously, that'd be something worth testing out, at least.

Then, let's design the experiment?
How do other posters desire this?
I'll suggest three participants. Sabrina, Homura, and any other girl in The Club. Sabrina observes using her senses, and provides safety margin. Homura is the backup. If things go poorly, she can halt the process, and manage the failure best. In the event of feedback, Sabrina will be most able to protect from Grief effects, so it seems to me she must not be placed in a position that has been prone to disable her in the past. Homura cannot be the operator, because we can't have her risk disability. The third member is the operator. She uses the data Sabrina provides, so we can both understand this as a more general result, and accepts the risk of feedback. Or the risk of having an attentive and affectionate pet Witch join her household.

What actions should we attempt? If therapy were the main interest, I can offer a first concept. Conversation, as a means to have the Witch focus on one or another part of her hallucination at a time. The part out of focus, Sabrina siphons away. Rinse and repeat until the barrier is almost empty. Then try to get the Witch to go into her Seed voluntarily. The goal is a Hunt with less trauma? I'm going with the theme of "abandoning the distorted thinking" and "running out of reasons" so the Witch will accept our task of becoming dormant. Once in that state, we could pull out all the rest of the Grief from outside, as per other Clear Seed data. There are rare Witches with an attachment to something outside their own closed reality, but studying a Witch that is atypical, or even almost social, is not going to advance our learning as fast.

########

We could also be prototyping on our call to Toshimichi Akane?
Or the meeting we want to have with Homura?

No shortage of subjects to refine.

Unfortunately, for any experiments involving contact with witches, any back-up girls with us will need to be witchbombed so that way we can explain to them what we're doing, so that way they know why we're doing it, and can have some ideas as to why we might persist even if things go somewhat wrong but not irrecoverably wrong.

In ~2 months time, what are the odds we could be voting on reaching out to new characters with significant matching worldviews? I think Tokyo is a big place, after all. New membership in the Dewitching Science Club should be a priority.

And I accept we are wiser with more backup on the cutting edge of Witch research. "Mom says."

So, either just us and Homura or we figure out who to bomb... or Oriko helps out.

Actually, I like that - Homura and Oriko can bond over watching us doing something fscking crazy.

Secondary Evidence: In Magia Record,
Ui speaks in a mixed Japanese and Witch dialect, which makes it sound like she's slurring her Japanese a bit.

• (The text): Hobe-myan! Nyannyomyaemyame!
• (Translation): Onee-chan! Yatto aeta ne! (Big Sis! We can finally meet!)

On an unrelated tangent:
Walpurgisnacht has been destroyed. That is all.

Okay, but on a serious note, yes: Magia Record actually provides some VERY useful ideas that we can use when its time to deal Walpy the death blow. 1st Up: Walpy's weakness seems to be being tied up, i.e. making it as helpless as it seeks to make everyone below it. Second, Ui provided during the fight canonical depictions of a Grief Construct due to being a Grief Manipulator in her own right (or at least I think the sphere she forms is made from Grief due to her power... kinda hazy on that. Its initial appearance with the black cloud around it suggests it might be made from Grief, but it might be made from Hope due to hearing Kibou more than a few times. Feel free to correct me on that.) and made a MASSIVE FREAKING BOW with Yachiyo that Iroha fires alongside Homura within Timestop.

Given that this is more based on what I've seen, and unable to translate the text, I'm sure there's more details and information tucked away in what everyone's saying.

EDIT: I swapped the last link because it contains MUCH MORE OF THE ENDING, including a reappearance of Madokami and her reaction this whole shebang.

Well then.

There's a lot of really critical insights we can get from that.

Point 1.

It's confirmed that Walpurgis has a defensive "shield" of sorts, and it's ludicrously powerful. Counting conservatively, it held back the continuous pressure from that uber-shot for at least 21 seconds.

So it really shouldn't be a surprise that Homura's arsenal hasn't ever made much of a scratch on her.

Point 2.

This is winnable. If you've collected a massive cooperating group of magical girls to all work together to oppose Walpurgisnacht, and you make a big dramatic spectacle of it, and you have ludicrous firepower, you can blow the Stage Constructing Witch to kingdom come.

Hypothetically, we could debate whether that end result happened because Walpurgis "let it happen" because her narrative conditions were fulfilled, or whether the shot pierced her defenses on its own merits, but either way the result is the same* - if we execute our current plan for Walpurgis, we can (not will) succeed.

Point 3.

Helplessness is a double edged blade. Walpurgis can impose helplessness on others, but is susceptible, on a narrative level, to having the tables turned and being made helpless herself. This is very nice for us, because giving Sabrina's girlfriend a critical role in defeating Walpurgisnacht fits very well with PMAS as a story.

*For all we know, that distinction doesn't even exist, and the reason the shot could pierce the defenses is because it had narrative buildup.

Here's some additional insight from Chapter 10 I've managed to scavenge, qouting from a source from the Magia Record Discord:

Part 1:
Everyone in the beginning is pretty much exhausted/knocked out from the consistent fighting either against Eve or Walpurgisnacht.
Iroha is praying for pretty much a miracle. Suddenly a bunch of feathers (not Magius, literal pink feathers) fall out of the sky and everyone is powered back up and regroups to fight Walpurgisnacht.

Just going to call her Walpy at this point.

Part 2:
Momoko and Natsuki use their magic to give everyone a buff.
Felicia uses her "oblivion" magic to make Walpy forget her destination to halt her.
Ria uses her magic to hide Walpy's destination
Chun uses her believe lie as truth for something (never really says)
Rika uses her magic to change Walpy's mind to head to the ocean.

Part 3:
Rika is successful in the direction change. Now the goal is to lure Walpy to the seaside park.
Walpy throws a building towards the girls
Tsuruno stands in front of everyone and uses her luck magic to make the building miss.
Sasara uses her lure evil ability to lure Walpy
Riko uses the power of "call something" to lure Walpy
Emiri uses charm to lure Walpy
Walpy attacks
Mayu uses her ability to stop Walpy's attack against the girls this time.

Walpy get's to the seaside park.
Amane use their sound ability to halt Walpy.
Asuka uses her "rule enforcement power" to halt Walpy (only one rule can enforced at a time).
Himika uses her coin toss to get Walpy's attention.
Kanagi can't read Walpy's mind so ineffective ability usage there.
Mitama adjusts and boosts everyone.

Part 4:
Kanagi managed to stop Walpy with Mitama's boosts.
Mami uses ribbons to bind Walpy
Kanoko uses her sewing ability to bind Walpy
Kaede uses her ability to use vines to bind Walpy
Rena changes into Kaede to use vines to bind Walpy.

Hazuki uses her scanning ability with Akira's witch weakness detection ability to detect Walpy's weakpoint.
Nanaka already knows Walpy is an enemy so no usage there.
Hazuki and Akira find that the gear is the Walpy's weakpoint/main body.
Nanaka, Kyouko, Sayaka, Iroha, Touka, Ui, Hinano, Hazuki, and Akira try to attack Walpy now

Part 5
Hinano uses a chemical explosion on Walpy.
Aimi has precognition powers to detect Walpy's next attack.
Kokoro uses her ability to protect others (endurance? unclear)
Masara hides with Aimi.
Ayame has the ability of "keeping things safe" and is in competition with Kokoro apparently for who protects the most.
Sana hides Konoha and Hazuki.

Walpy tries to break free.
Kokoro team and Konoha team retreat.
Seika, Reira, and Mito suddenly come out of the water (probably Seika's ability)
Reira uses her flames to heal everyone.
Mito mind links everyone.

Part 6:
Everyone's mind is now connected.
Everyone is now fully aware of each other's ability.
Yachiyo has the ability to succeed a magical girl's hope (Chapter 8's ghost spook with her previous now dead teammates)
Yachiyo using her will weaken her permanently like Mifuyu.

Ayaka stops Walpy's initial attempt to break free by using her ability to make Walpy's attempt a "joke"
Konomi is on buff support.
Manaka spreads everyone's power to wipe out all the familiars in a large AOE of sorts.
Kako uses her repetition power to repeat the AOE attack.
Ren heals Walpy's soul to prevent any resurrection.

Ui collects everyone power (spirit bomb style)
Touka uses this ball of power to convert it into a single compressed form.
Yachiyo then controls and manipulates this power into a giant spear.

Part 7:
Giant spear is given to Iroha.
Touka changes the energy to be Iroha's energy since Iroha couldn't handle it all at first.
Iroha preps for the big shot but Walpy again attempts to escape
Homura grabs onto Iroha to timestop for help.
Iroha shoots the bigshot yelling Strada Futuro
Walpy's dead
Homu: "Sayonara Walpy"
Iroha wonders what the heck the feathers were
Everyone's happy yay
Felicia's hungry
Everyone go to adjustor's to check mifuyu
Ui somehow knows mikazuki and others cuz Mokyuu gave her memory
Iroha thinks Mokyuu repaired Iroha memory in Chapter 1 in order to give Ui memory back
Iroha wonders if she can meet the sacrificed Mokyuu again

Epilogue:

Summary on Magireco Arc 1 Epilogue
- iroha and ui's living in mikazuki manor cuz their parents got another flight to foreign country
- (ui goes to kamihama school btw - the one where iroha goes)
- mifuyu appears
- (reminiscing in adjustor's) yachiyo is sad seeing almost dead mifuyu
- iroha felt sorry for yachiyo that was seeking for whatever she could do for her
- iroha's heal magic could recover mifuyu's soul gem's crack
- now they're heading toward Magius's revelation
- Touka and Nemu (yes Nemu's alive but her legs are paralyzed) set up a session to explain what they were doing so far in Kamihama to all Kamihama Magical girls and PMHQ
- Touka says sorry to Mami for the brainwash thing
- Mami accepts her apology and admits that Mami herself has grown in mental after this incident. She hopes they can help each other to be stronger from now on
- Homura asks Nemu about the Ui she has seen in the prologue
- Touka and Nemu tells that it was one of method (showing magical girl-shaped illusion) for Magius to lure megucas into Kamihama but is surprised that one of such shape was Ui
- Now everyone arrives and listen to Magius's revelation session
(fades out and madokami appears)
- madokami's still worried about her action would break this record. that she could only do the feathers sent down to heal megucas in Walpy fight
- she says she won't do something like this anymore cuz it may break the record this time
(fades out and fades in with Magius after the session)
- All megucas understood the situation but still didn't fully forgive Magius
- Iroha says that since now everyone are aware of the fate, they can work together to find a a way to get away from the fate
(at Sakura Rumor's barrier)
- Iroha, Ui, Touka, Nemu came together that the cherry blossom blooms
- Sakura Rumor congratulates them and blesses them be happy from now on
- Sakura Rumor points ground. There's Mokyuu alive
- Iroha cries for meeting Mokyuu again

Initial Observations:
- The manniquin is indeed a decoy (a dangerous one that can attack, but still a decoy), the real witch and core are the Gears.
- Everyone was injured due to Alina Grey and Eve/ the arrival of Walpurisnacht's Familiars and the fighting between Eve's Familiars and Walpurgis's, requiring Madokami herself to step in and heal them. Hence Madofeathers.
- How much of these abilities legitimately did damage to Walpurgisnacht versus how much of them Walpurgis "allowed" them to harm her is up for debate.

Oh, and it was Homura who got the last line and said, "Goodbye, Walpurgisnacht". After all Homura's been through, she's more than earned the finishing one-liner.

Will continue to pour through to try and find more details.

Thanks, it helps knowing this. It looks like Hope magic and Grief were in the cutscenes?

I guess we are required to kick the fight off with Lightning, Rays of Buddha, and the speech? :) "It's all you, Homura."

And then, the most dominant act - we use our Grief audio hack to noise-cancel the Witches laugh. At her own location. So there.

Not only is a Walpurgisnacht plan possible, it is not unlike what I wanted all along. We will face Walpurgisnacht with fewer conceptual powers than they, and more conflict abilities. It might be possible for Sabrina to create the conditions of even greater success. Beyond "removing the motive intent / destination" and "isolating the Witch" the goal for us should include "no urban demolition." Thus, we have to consider how to either protect the bricks and mortar, or displace the Witch much faster.
We can certainly get everyday optimizations lined up, like purging the gas lines, and isolating the electric and water systems. Having our allies cancel the AoE attacks with their own powers is probably a headline intention? We will need synergistic combinations of girls to make each counter work, given the power gap. An Air team, a Fire team, etc. But that makes it more epic? Burning Mitakihara's downtown is a partial loss to us. Skyscrapers that might get seized if we don't evict the Witch soon enough must be broken into particles or teleported away before they can impact something else and spread the damage.
Of course, instead of running every mana gauge low as the only plan, if we can effectively supplement magic with other energies at any point, it doesn't hurt. Familiars might get the worst of this, if we teach the Akemi Style to our area patrol girls. Thinking as we now do, we should save the big cordite until after we get the ritual working properly. Some explosives (and catalytic magic) should be earmarked to steer the fight, and build our drama. Most should wait for the reduction in defense, so we can open the way for close combat in one blow.
The point of joining with many allies is to get many things happening at once. Our game isn't like the smartphone game, and discrete serial actions between groups would be mostly our own lack of practice. Mami demonstrates neatly what is possible. We want flow. And 'cheating.'
Our Homura has more practice, and we have Veteran helpers of particular disposition.
With these differences, we could attempt a plan with tighter combinations and hand-offs. For instance, if we choose to try the binding attack with Mami as other girls help, the combo will have chilling effectiveness, and not require nearly so much conceptual patchwork once we get the Grief wrestling match started. We'll probably need an Incubator as a continuous Grief sink once we start cutting in to the enemy stores. In return for that inconvenience, we can be a walking, talking status effect. Witches hate that!

Another desired state might be to trap the familiars if they seem to be echoes of her victims. Sayaka might try to produce an offshoot of her power Gems, a construct with no resident ability, just some hope to keep it inflated. If that is a functional context, familiars that we trap can be stored and experimented upon later, as these might be recoverable uploads of the souls of the fallen. It's never wrong to hope.
We will have to try this with ordinary familiars first. If twins result, I hope they don't hold it against us. #posthumanissues
Also, there has to be at least one real Grief Seed in there - there could be enough for a Sonic bonus race, if our metaphysics goes that way? I don't make those decisions. We unambiguously would like to reform that girl(s) as well, one we beat the stuffing out of her(them). Absolute destruction is not my first choice, if we have another.

Of COURSE binding Walpy would work. Her magic functions by the turning of gears.

Holy shit we're so stupid for not realizing this before.

Nova Prospekt pt. 25
Your fingers rest lightly on the keyboard for a moment as you think. You kind of want to tease them a bit. Joke around, set them at ease because they're nervous. Tone carries poorly over text, and yet you can feel the jittery, anxious energy radiating from the screen.

Are we gonna have a problem?

And the moment you showed up, they ran for... presumably the leader of their group, to present a strong facade.

No, you're not going to let this stand, either way, even if you can't really joke around. There's a time and a place and this is not it.

[15:12:56] <GriefBeGone> yeah, I am
[15:13:00] <GriefBeGone> but no
[15:13:11] <GriefBeGone> I have no special problems with other Grief controllers
[15:13:27] <GriefBeGone> seriously I'm just here because I got your IP out of nadia bennouna
[15:13:31] <YatanoKagami> That's good to know
[15:13:39] <TheWall> see nodoka?
[15:13:41] <TheWall> it's fine
[15:13:48] <GriefBeGone> sorry for the scare
[15:14:02] <GriefBeGone> idk what you've heard but I don't actually go around knocking over towns or anything
You hesitate, frowning at the time. Not much time to go before you have to go. Not much time at all. Your fingers fly over the keyboard, hammering the keys with magical girl speed, a constant click-clack blurring into rapidfire chatter.

[15:14:09] <GriefBeGone> ok sorry I gtg really soon so I'm gonna word diarrhea a bit
[15:14:14] <GriefBeGone> got just a few minutes til my girlfriend's out of school
[15:14:18] <GriefBeGone> and again yes I do control Grief, and I had a ton of potential so I can genuinely cleanse Soul gems for free
[15:14:23] <GriefBeGone> you can confirm this with nadia if you want, I demonstrated for her
[15:14:27] <GriefBeGone> and I'm here because I want to *help*. 'with great power comes great responsibility' and all that
[15:14:31] <GriefBeGone> anyone who's not an evil asshat, who won't use unlimited power for evil? I want to help.
[15:14:33] <GriefBeGone> I didn't actually know you had a grief controller
[15:14:36] <GriefBeGone> you'd think nadia woulda mentioned it
[15:14:38] <GriefBeGone> but oh well
[15:14:39] <GriefBeGone> no harm done
[15:14:41] <GriefBeGone> now that I do know I'd love to chat properly sometime, sempai
[15:14:45] <GriefBeGone> sorry for the wall of text but yeah there you go
You nod to yourself and sit back, eyeing the screen. Hopefully you haven't scared them more with the barrage.

[15:15:00] <YatanoKagami> we're glad to hear that you have good intentions, miss Vee
[15:15:04] <TheWall> yeah
[15:15:16] <TheWall> we hear you shut down sendai?
[15:15:25] <GriefBeGone> I wasn't alone
[15:15:37] <GriefBeGone> mami, kirika, me
[15:15:56] <GriefBeGone> but yes, we intervened to stop the fighting and negotiated a peace
[15:16:12] <GriefBeGone> I'm helping the groups get back on their feet, too
[15:16:29] <GriefBeGone> actually out of curiosity, how did you hear?
[15:16:54] <YatanoKagami> rumour spreads fast
[15:17:13] <YatanoKagami> friend of a friend of a friend, from fukushima
[15:17:21] <GriefBeGone> ah ok, that does make sense
At least they didn't hear it from Kyuubey, you can't help but think. You still can't put it past the little bastard of an alien to spread false rumours about you. And speaking of which, you feel like you haven't seen it in a while, which is a little concerning.

[15:17:24] <GriefBeGone> anyway
[15:17:30] <GriefBeGone> do you have any questions for me?
[15:17:38] <YatanoKagami> what are your intentions?
[15:17:37] <GriefBeGone> and are you in urgent need of cleansing or grief seeds?
[15:17:41] <GriefBeGone> well
[15:17:44] <GriefBeGone> if you need aid, I can probably be there by the end of the day
[15:17:49] <GriefBeGone> otherwise I'm really just here to say hi, and maybe I'll visit soon if you want?
[15:17:53] <GriefBeGone> oh and before i forget here's my email address
[15:17:54] <GriefBeGone> sabrina.vee.mitakihara@gmail.com
[15:18:12] <YatanoKagami> no, we're not urgently in need
[15:18:20] <YatanoKagami> but the offer is appreciated!
[15:18:27] <TheWall> yeah definitely
[15:18:35] <YatanoKagami> and we'd be open to you dropping by
[15:18:48] <Hatsumi> sorry about earlier
[15:18:56] <Hatsumi> didn't mean to offend
[15:19:14] <GriefBeGone> nono, I'm not offended
[15:19:17] <GriefBeGone> I was worried I'd upset *you*, and I'm sorry about that
[15:19:20] <GriefBeGone> anyway I'm really sorry again but I have to run
[15:19:21] <GriefBeGone> gotta go meet mami up from school
[15:19:22] <GriefBeGone> it was nice meeting you and please feel free to email me, and I'll be in touch sometime soon hopefully!
[15:19:30] <YatanoKagami> good bye!
[15:19:32] <TheWall> take care!
[15:19:40] <Hatsumi> bye!
You smile faintly at the screen. That went OK, you think to yourself as you shut the computer down and snatch the enchanted Grief from the desk, a touch of will setting it floating away into the rest of the cloud. You hurry out of the apartment, locking the door behind you and sprinting up the stairs three at a time, wings already sweeping out from your back as you hit the roof.

Ten minutes is... actually plenty of time to get to school on wing, but still, you don't want to be late for that.

You tear across Mitakihara, dropping into that same alleyway with three minutes to spare. You stride out, hands tucked into the pockets of your slacks, and head over to the gate. You trade nods with the truancy officer, rocking back and forth lightly on the balls of your feet as you wait.

You don't have long to wait, the school bell splitting the air a few minutes later. You can't help the smile that rises to your face in anticipation, either, as you watch the school doors eagerly.

And you're rewarded for your patience - Mami bursts from the school door, bag bouncing on her shoulder as she hurries to meet you. Not quite a sprint, but you're laughing when she crashes into you and you sweep her off her feet in an exuberant hug, planting a kiss on her cheek. She squeaks, blushing red, and melts into your arms as you gently set her down.

"Hey," you say, beaming at her.

"Hi, Sabrina," she says, looking up at you with shining eyes.

"How are you?" you ask.

"Better now," she says. She cuddles into your arms, leaning her cheek against your shoulder. "I... it gets easier, knowing that you're waiting for me. How was the trip back from Tokyo?"

"Mostly uneventful," you say. "I'd love to discuss the visit in Tokyo with you in more detail, but- ah! Yes, after we got back, I had a bit of time, so I headed home, and I decided to drop by one of the IRCs Nadia gave me? Based in Kyushu, and... hm. I think I want to tell everyone about that one, so... we'll wait for the others to get out?"

"That makes sense," Mami agrees. She shifts a little, nudging you, and without letting her go, you both make your way off to the side of the gate so as to not impede the flow of students out of the school. You get a few looks, but you really can't bring yourself to care, not with Mami tucked happily against your side.

The rest of your friends arrive in short order - Homura and Sayaka and Madoka and Hitomi. Sayaka waves energetically at you, like you hadn't just seen her less than half an hour ago, but you wave back anyway.

"Yooo," she calls as they all catch up. She's still carrying Hitomi's bag in addition to her own, both hefted comfortably over her shoulder. "How'd it go?"

"Hey everyone," you say, beaming at your friends. You flash Homura a warm smile, too. It's still good to see her together with the group - and you'd scheduled a moment to talk to her after school. "It went well, Sayaka - how's everyone?"

"Quite well, thank you," Hitomi says with a smile. "Classes today were uneventful, though we have a group project to work on."

"Mm!" Madoka agrees. "Saotome-sensei has, ah, settled down a bit."

"Surely she hasn't settled down with someone?" you ask, and wave down the street. "Walk and talk?"

"Pretty sure the world would end if she did," Sayaka says, obligingly starting along the pavement. "Nah, she's just, uh, between events right now. So, the IRC?"

"Ah," you say. "Also, you should've just stayed if you wanted to know so badly."

"Eh, I'm curious," Sayaka says. "But not that curious."

"Right... for context, I went and poked at one of the IRCs Nadia directed me to? Kyushu island." You summarize for Homura, Madoka, and Hitomi's benefit before continuing. "Made contact, they seem nice enough, but they were nervous as hell, because... it turns out they have a Grief controller, too!"

"Oh," Madoka says, blinking.

"Didn't Miss Bennouna say that Grief controllers tend to be, uh..." Sayaka trails off, groping at the air as if trying to find a word.

"Yeahhh," you say. "She seemed to be on the level, though. And extremely nervous, because they'd heard about me and Sendai, and were afraid I might come knocking simply because they had a Grief controller."

Mami purses her lips thoughtfully. "Miss Bennouna didn't mention that they did."

"Maybe she didn't know?" Sayaka says.

"I mean, she makes it her business to know these things, doesn't she?" you say.

"Perhaps... but it suggests, then, that at the very least she hadn't heard anything bad about them," Mami says. "Grief controllers can't... can't really hide if they've been using their powers on people."

"Yeah, I suppose so," you say, grimacing. It's even true for you.

"Oh, I-" Mami freezes for a second, clutching your arm. "I- I didn't mean you, Sabrina."

"No, no, you're right," you say, pausing in your tracks to wrap her in a tight hug. "You're right. I can't exactly hide what I do, nor do I want to. And it sounds like that girl from Kyushu was at the very least ashamed, if she'd done anything."

Mami nods, hugging back.

"Do you know their names?" Homura asks.

"No, actually," you say. "Nadia never wrote down their names, and uh... I've got their screennames? Hatsumi was the Grief controller, there was another girl called 'TheWall', and the girl who I'm pretty sure is the leader went by 'YatanoKagami'."

Hitomi sniffs disdainfully. "That's a bit arrogant."

"Hmm?" you say.

"Yata no Kagami, the sacred mirror forged by Ishikoridome," Hitomi says. "It's part of our Imperial Regalia."

"Ahh, it's just a nickname," Sayaka says. "There's a thousand people calling themselves Amateratsu or Susanoo or whatever. Hell, 'Kusanagi' is a surname."

Hitomi shrugs.

"Sono Mako, I suspect," Homura murmurs, frowning. "Kagoshima. Her magic lets her redirect energy and magic."

"Ah, I think I've heard of her," Mami says. "Vaguely. She's supposed to be quite powerful, isn't she?"

Homura nods slightly, catching your eye - and yes, that name twigs your memory. She'd brought her up before, as someone who would be worth recruiting to face Walpurgisnacht.

Huh. There's a bit of serendipity.

"Ahhh, that's kinda cool I guess," Sayaka says, lacing her fingers and pushing them over her head to stretch. "Hey, we're on for enchantment practice today, right? Madoka, Hitomi, d'you wanna come?"

"Ah..." Madoka hesitates. "I'd like to!"

"I would not mind; we could discuss the project," Hitomi says. "Let me call my parents?" She pulls her phone out, drifting to the side of the group to dial.

"You're all welcome, of course," Mami says with a smile.

"The enchantment practice is probably gonna be pretty boring, though," you warn, catching Homura's eye. She holds your gaze for a split second before giving you an infinitesimal shrug. "I mean, unless you like to see me break things. I'm bad at it."

Madoka giggles, tapping out a message on her phone. "We can discuss the group project! And do our homework."

"Great!" Sayaka says, bouncing happily on her toes.

"Homura, you're coming too, right?" you say with a smile. She nods, and you grin at her. Time to fatten her up more. "Fantastic! C'mon, everyone, this way then."

You herd everyone down a different turn, rather than the usual path you take. Slightly shorter path back home, since you're all headed in the same direction. You link arms with Mami as you walk, smiling warmly at her.

"I won't be able to stay for dinner, unfortunately," Hitomi says, thumb over the mic on her phone. "Though, ah, my mother would like to know if you'd be open to coming over for dinner on this Saturday? She said she'd mentioned it to you when you visited on Monday."

Huh. You blink at Hitomi - you'd almost forgotten about that, the suggestion rather overwritten by the fact that Hito-mommy knew about magical girls. And she had wanted to discuss the matter with you in more detail at a better time.
