Also "Homura, are you okay with [us taking Rionna fucking down]?"

I can't believe Sabrina found a way to fucking waste Homura's time in Time Stop. I love it.

I don't think this is necessary.

Again, as long as we get Kirika to enchant the box such that opening the box doesn't turn off the Antimagic enchant, we'll be in a position where we have Sayaka open the box and stick a finger in to copy the power whenever we want.
Why a box? Shouldn't the antimagic enchant be better secured so it couldn't come out of contact with the Gem? A casing that left enough space to apply Grief Seeds should be safer.

Anyway, we'd still need to ask Sayaka whether she wants to learn the secret.

If she does, we need to Witchbomb her, then she can copy Riona.

If she doesn't, we need to ask whether she feels she can copy Riona and put away the power without using it.

If she doesn't, we need her to not copy Riona until she's Witchbombed.

It's a lot of ifs to put in a vote.

(BTW, the Sayaka Witchbomb deserves its own update, doesn't it? Would feel wrong for it not to.)

How do you remove the casing without destroying it? I think that's really all there is to say about that... better to use something accessible and keep it somewhere inaccessible.

Imagine a thick ring around Riona's Soul Gem, with Anti Magic. Can't be removed.

Sabrina could, or anyone with the needed fine control, but nobody else should be able to, that's the point, what makes it safe.

Putting the Soul Gem in a box means someone can steal it and then it's not Anti-Magicked anymore.

[X] Grab Rionna's personal effects and hammerspace them.
-[X] Investigate the cider. Have Mami take a look at it.
[X] Get an antimagic enchantment from the Kures.
-[X] Solicit advice from your friends about secure places to keep Rionna's soul gem. Bring up your hammerspace as an option.
[X] Vent to your friends, snuggle your girlfriend. Seriously, that encounter has you stressed out.

I think it may need a line warning Sayaka against copying Riona's power today but looks good so far.

I don't see it as wasting time because this isn't about Homura as much as it's about Sabrina. Sabrina needed to be sure she wasn't going too far by taking Riona down (and we discovered there's a line Homura thinks it's too much: holding Riona's body in her shield permanently)

Nobody wants a repeat of the Highlander Sayaka incident. :V

Order of operations?

Sayaka is our anti-magic provider, and must keep that role until we have got the enchanted restraint fabbed. I would like to see no attempt made until after that happens, and that attempt is pre-empted by the decision to be Witchbombed talk. Is copying talk happening in the current update? I hear you, Onmur.

As long as we have Yuki's help, the physical isolation of an inanimate gem is probably reliable. Given a sturdy container, such as a screw-top metal jar, she could bury and retrieve it any number of times. More to the point, we need to inspect to see if Rionna is accumulating Grief quickly or slowly. Freeing the Shades may reduce the corruption rate?

Rionna's reaction when we revive her
Once she understands the thing that has happened to her, what do you think Rionna's emotions will be?

In all likelihood, will we be too busy pumping Grief and blocking her witchout to have complex reactions? Gonna need professional help, and mind powers on deck to do as the good doctor asks of us.

[X] Try to get a Shade viewing enchantment running, or ask Sayaka to split and try her visual powers in passive mode.
[X] Get a container to form the anti-magic box enchantment
[X] Investigate Rionna's personal items, including cider. Store for later.
[X] Go to the Kures for box enchantment.
[X] Brainstorm to determine security placed on Rionna's Soul Gem.
-[X] Measure the rate of Grief accumulation in the Gem.
[X] Plans for travel to Yuki, and vent session after.

For me the issue is more of my innterpretation of Sabrina as of now: Sabrina is heavily stressed by failing to talk to Riona to the point Sayaka notices and the current winning vote just want to vent to destress. I don't think Sabrina wants any more heavy conversations today (like Witchbombing) unless it's critical.

[] Get Anti Magic Enchantments from the Kures.
-[] One for her body, like Anri's.
-[] One for her Soul Gem, a solid covering encasing it, leaving enough of the Gem visible to monitor and cleanse it.***
I was just about to mention this. It's important we stick anti-magic on both the gem and the body.

It should be easy enough to create the proper materials by molding some steel or something into the proper shape. Sabrina has the ability to do that fairly easily.

However that's the easy stuff really. The real problem is that we have to deal with the shades (which I believe we know pretty much nothing about) and Riona.

The best method would probably be to bring in Kirika into the timestop and have her make our anti-magic enchantments. Then we have Sayaka read into the Witchbomb and have her copy RIona's power. Then we deal with the shades.

There are lots of fairly obvious issues with doing things this way. Homura is not going to be happy with Kirika being brought into the timestop even if we do it from a long distance away with ribbons. Also, it means we have to bring Sayaka into the Witchbomb which puts lots of pressure on her.

Problem is, if we want to try saving the shades, it is critical.

Needs to happen before timestop is dropped.

Again, taking the time to vent first is fine, but we still need to sort this out rather quickly.

Even if Sayaka could copy Riona without using the power and putting it away... that doesn't change that she needs to use the power if we're going to try and revive the shades, so Witchbomb still needs to happen this timestop.

Is jokes.

If you want to put the Shades salvation on a critical path, it becomes logical to ask around for other Soul power girls. Otherwise, our plan is blocked by a single failure. At a minimum, we need a way to put the souls in a substrate, such as a Soul Gem.

Ask Kyuubey for some blank gems? It has a motive to say "yes" if that request is cheap for it...

First, very first thing we need to do if we are to Save the Shades, would be to perceive them. When and how do we do that?

[X] Plan WorldSlayer
-[X] Poke through Riona's things and vent a bit.
--[X] hammerspace her stuff
-[X] Get Anti Magic Enchantments from Kirika and put them on Riona
-[X] See if Sayaka is willing to be Witchbombed
--[X] If yes then Sayaka will copy Riona's power and see what can be done about the shades.

OK and here we go.

First, we (the whole team) mess around a bit and look through Riona's stuff and generally let off some steam. Once that's done we get on with the stuff that needs to be done.

I get the feeling Sayaka will say yes to being Witchbombed, previously there was no gain in doing so but here there are a bunch of shades depending on her.

Also, I'm a bit worried about what the Shades might get up to if we end the timestop before we deal with them. They might dissipate harmlessly or they might go into a homicidal range or execute previously given orders. It's a mystery what they might get up to so I'd like to have it dealt with before we end the timestop. Letting the shades act on their own might otherwise be something we regret.

So that was... not exactly relieving, but certainly reduced my stress levels regarding this whole thing. Now then, on to more important things, like snuggling with Mami.

A couple of freebies.

  • Yeah, Sayaka can copy Rionna's power.
  • I'm not really sure why an antimagic enchantment would be tied to opening or closing the lid. It'd be more like "everything in this box is antimagic-ed".
  • There's no reason Sayaka can't copy Rionna's power later unless something monumentally stupid happens.

I really think Sayaka Witchbomb deserves its own update. I could see us going into it at the end of next update, maybe...

Vent and then take Sayaka aside?

[X] Get Riona's things.

[X] Get Anti Magic Enchantments for Riona and her Gem, from the Kures.

[X] Vent to your friends. Not just Riona, but everything wrong in general. Get it all out.
-[X] Cool down. With hugs. Thank your friends for being your friends.
-[X] Ask Sayaka if she's thought about your talk from earlier. No pressure. Tell her it's fine if she refuses.

I think once either Sayaka tries to take the shades, or she chooses to not get Witchbombed, there's no more need to keep up Timestop, is there?

What if by imprisoning Rionna the shades will fade away, placing them in a situation fa worse?
Riona said she needs to hold onto the shades. We're supposing they'll pass onto the afterlife.

That's why it's important that Sayaka's Witchbombed this timestop, so the shades don't have time to pass on.

Could somebody go and check that we didn't ask Sayaka to sleep on it? Because I think we asked her to do that.
Sleep on it? (?)

We asked her to copy Riona, but I don't think she's tried yet, thankfully.
So, um... could I ask you to try copying her magic too, Sayaka? I want to see if we can try to put her shades to rest, and to diagnose Soul maladies.

Riona: a new record from 0 to dunked.
Homu proves to be as dangerous a boogeyguca as we meme her to be. :p

I'm gonna yank her Soul Gem, and then move it out the window." You gesture behind you.

Homura wordlessly moves to open the window.
Homu quietly looking out for us. You know what this reminds me of?

You take a step back, inspecting your handiwork and swishing the katana idly through the air.

A glance aside at Homura, who's looking... well, more than a little perplexed.

You thrust both arms out at the rack, and the frozen tableau of the yakuza, still solemnly kneeling in front of the mop. The katana barely misses scraping against the ceiling. "Eh? Eh?" you grin.

Homura stares, before shaking her head slowly. Her lips are quirked in a tiny, tiny smile of amusement, and you cheer silently at getting amusement out of Homura. Your own grin only broadens, and you laugh, twirling on the spot with your arms outstretched.

A hand catches your wrist, arresting your turn. "Watch the katana," Homura says, the smile still on her face.

"Heh," you chuckle. "Thanks."

Homu casually stopping Sabrina to make bad life choices with the katana.

This time, Homumom helps Sabrina not crash a soul through a window. :V

Random:

Rionna finds herself on a plateau of crystal and glass overlooking a view of the cosmos. Across from her over a decidedly more normal (but very nice) table is a girl not much older then herself. Her pink hair shines with starlight and her flowing white dress ruffles in a breeze unseen.

Rionna finds herself sitting in the nicest chair she's ever seen as the Keeper of Cycles pours her a cup of tea. The wielder of souls looks about and greets the situation with all the eloquence she possesses.

"uuuh"

Let it be known Rionna never consider social interaction a strong point for herself.

What if by imprisoning Rionna the shades will fade away, placing them in a situation fa worse?
"Is that all of ye, or just yourself?" Rionna asks, rolling her eyes. "I'm to stay a day and flying back home."

"Ah. Pre-booked tickets?" you say. "But what do you mean by cannot and will not? I mean, I know things can't happen instantly, but I really do have ideas."

"I hold on to the shades, or they fade away," Rionna says, folding her arms. "I've spent years building my collection. It's what I have to use to secure my city."
How we interpret this is unclear, but my thoughts are that she needs to pay upkeep on each Shade on some sort of schedule. Enchantment fades, counting down from a charge payed into it at casting. Maybe this is analogous?
They might be set in a rotation scheme, so not all of them come due at once. And there ought to be a buffer in her return schedule, given the travel distance. Is this true? No idea, we have seen some mistakes on her part already, and the magic may not work in the manner I imagine.
