I... I did a thing? The pmmm style is hard to replicate, so sorry that everyone's faces look awful.

With that out of the way, tada!

I did like five arts. And uhhh, they may or may not be of the first chapter of pmas?

Only the first one is in color because WHEEZE I can't color that many images.

The last one is when Sabrina looks in the mirror for the first time ever, so there's that

:o

Not 1 art, but 5 arts?!

Splendid!

*Rolls to not die from art overload*

EDIT: I am dead.
Onmur threw 1 6-faced dice. Reason: roll die to not die Total: 4

Inb4 Mami prefers dogs over cats.

Only to make specifically you, yes, you, Aranfan, despair.

Welcome to the world of PMMM.

Ahh, but if the purrpose of Mami's dog-loving is to create dispair, would it not be better for her to love an animal unloved by anyone else? Being a dog person (not the anime kind, the regular kind) would create joy in the legions of dog-lovers, when it could be maximised by being, say, a goldfish person.

First of all, wow, @Norad the Borad! That looks great - I'll add them to the fanart index tomorrow.

Second of all - well, I haven't really had the opportunity to catch up on the thread the past few days. Unexpected stuff came up for my PhD, and I've been handling that, which ties into my third thing.

I'd meant to update yesterday, but well, here we are. I apologise for delaying the update again, but I will definitely update by this weekend. I've already set aside a good chunk of time for writing!

But milord, the purpose was to create despair specifically for Aranfar... are you saying Aranfan's despair is the joy of the dog lovers?!

Such cruelty, such despair, such PMMM. What a wonderfuly, terrible world we live in.

Alas, my faithful subject, I am not. What I am saying is that the universe of PMMM would create far more suffering through goldfish loving then dog-loving, especially if Mami was made into a cat/dog-hater. While tailoring itself solely for the torture of Aranfan would give it plenty of suffering from the one subject, a universe as experienced in the art of Sadz as PMMM would aim for far greater things.

Therefore, I posit that Mami Tomoe has a deeply-ingrained fear of all animals; liking any would provide us with happiness, which cannot be allowed, yet a fear of animals as opposed to a hatred makes her a more sympathetic character, making us feel all the more for her Suffering.

You are so wise and knowledgeable in despair macroeconomics, Lord Chungus, I would have never considered this angle on my own.

I will take note: The despair of many outweight the despair of the few.

It's a shame for Mami, though, to suffer from zoophobia. But it is very logical: it now makes sense that we never see her around animals. The only animal-life thing she ever keeps around is Kyuubey, and that thing looks more like a stuffed toy than an actual animal.

What is terrible is that we now cannot use cat ears on Sabrina or Chibi Brina to increase Mami's happiness. Unless... maybe if we cat ears looked clearly toy-like, like plastic? :thonk:

Let us not jump to conclusions, oh Onmur of the Omakes. The world of PMMM may be a cruel and unforgiving place, concerned only with creating Suffering, but Sabrina has paid her dues to the world. If we make a trade, creating suffering for the world in exchange for the happiness of our friends, perhaps it would grant us mercy?

As such, we must now begin Microwaving Tea en mass; the suffering of such an act would fufil our quota, leaving us free to have glorious fluff.

Or, maybe, we should ask Mami if she likes cats. That would be a whole lot easier.
....
Well, now I feel dumb. Yeah, we could just do that.

So wise, yet so horrifying.

Mass Microwave Tea is known to be a Forbidden Technique of massive proportions! To think anyone would think to employ it so easily. I guess that's the difference between us commoners and a Lord.

If I might add to your idea, why not ask Mami, instead of whether she likes cats, which animal she likes? That way, our question concern a greater field of zoo related knowledge.

And then... not only should we limit ourselves to asking Mami about this for the purposes of attaching animal-like appendages to ourselves for the purposes of increasing Mami's happiness... we could even ask Mami whether she'd like to get a pet! :o

Imagine, Mami's and Sabrina's home, but decorated with photos of them and their friends; with a nice kotatsu I'm sure Mami would like, going by side materials; and even with a pet!

This is truly an image we need to make a reality. I am sure of it.

Holy frick, everyone is so nice, AHHHHHHHH

I was planning to keep piddling away at making images of major events in each chapter. Not only is it good for sharpening my art skills, but also making the thread happy. Yay! :D I happen to think it would be cool if people could see PMAS as well as read it.

An idea which I don't know if it has been discussed already.

If we decide in favour of toppling Riona, instead of attacking her directly, or even threatening to attack her directly, we can instead threaten to put a *bounty* on her. Say, that we will offer 3 Clear Seeds to whichever group topples her and takes over her territory.

This basically utilizes our wealth (in the form of Clear Seeds) against her.

Bad idea. Riona should be presumed to be as dangerous as we are. The kind of adversary that can only be beaten in a single masterstroke with something incredibly hax.

Edit:

Tangentially a speculation I just had about Riona's psychology. Magical Girls that survive the Witchbomb tend to have an anchor. Riona has whatever the fuck she's doing in Edinburgh. Homura has getting Madoka through Walpurgisnacht. Kirika has Oriko. Oriko had making her death mean something. Niko and Us have improving magical girls lot in life through science.

What if unconsciously, Riona's afraid of getting Agent Smithed?

Are you thinking this because of Doylist reasons or Watsonian ones?

In Watsonian terms, I think Riona for most of her neighbours would be more trouble than worth to overthrow, and that's probably where her security derives from. Not that she can actually endure multiple groups attacking her, if those groups were sufficiently motivated to do so.

I'm thinking that she's mentioned downing entire teams singlehandedly. Kind of like how we trivialized the Sendai fight by Gemming everyone IIRC.

"Ach," she says, waving a careless hand at you. "Don't worry about it. It's not good people I do it to. Most of them are already murderers by the time I get to 'em, so they are. Last one had her and her posse livin' high on the backs of a good couple score Witches and all."

She's probably even worse in Edinburgh with access to all of her shades.

Good point. Still we don't know how easy that was for her, whether she took them by surprise, etc. And withstanding an attack by, say, that German group that numbers hundreds of magical girls, might be a whole different order of magnitude in difficulty for her.

Nonetheless good point.

Rionna should essentially be considered to have the strength of an unknown but large number of magical girls working together (all of her shades), plus a single combatant who can instakill any enemy within her reach and add that strength to the collective.

The magic of her wraiths probably still causes grief costs that mean that she can't keep too many active at once, but if she's "going nova" and burning through her reserves? In Edinburgh, the seat of her power?

She can probably effectively have an army of hundreds of magical girls at her back, all acting in synchronization to a single will. (And shortly afterwards she witches out from massive grief overdose and becomes a conglomerate witch*, but that's a seperate issue.)

*It's no coincidence that Rionna's witch name isn't the ruler of the underworld, but rather the name of the afterlife itself.
