I've assumed so far that we will keep answering and asking questions, whichever the case.

If this was Hijiri, we could tell her to her face that we're really out to help people, which I suspect will annoy her greatly. Which would be a bonus.

But ah, I can't imagine how panickly nervous Mami will feel if we let her know something's wrong and then ask her to stay outside the bubble and pretend everything's OK... while preparing an ambush.

We should probably start with reassurances, before explaining the problem. It's aaaaaall under control. Specially once Homu+Sayaka combo blast Antimagic at Hijirionna and Mami ties her up. :p

Now, if this is just Riona... and if we get to the part about sharing hypothesis, what should we explain, if we decide to trust her? That we're probably a de-Witched Walpurgisnacht as part of a Wish to make the world better, which leads us to find unique chances to help people, sometimes in the nick of time?

Something something not being too specific or factually right, just give Rionnnna an idea?

Random thought while waking up a couple of days ago:

We keep telling Homura to eat and sleep and all that stuff. I think, us being all we are, Sabrina doesn't really need to keep up the food and sleep schedule in order to keep functioning normally; we can accept people (including ourselves) being people regardless of whether they're flesh and blood or whether they're an uploaded consciousness.

The problem with Homura is that she does not believe herself (and other meguca) to be human.

I wonder if, in order to combat feelings of inadequacy and inhumanity, we're gonna end up instituting some sort of cultural acceptance for transhumanism amongst Magical Girls.

Unless she decides to teleport, at which point half the thread will vote to let her go again.

:/
We don't want her to try to teleport again. Though I think we would take her Gem this time.
First time is on her. We gave her a chance.

Second time is on us. If Hijiri attacked Riona and tried to get at us like this, I don't think I'm gonna care much about her, other than taking her alive. Nevermind gemming her, if she tries to pull something, pulverize her while keeping the Gem intact.

Giving her another chance if we know she attacked someone else again would be hilariously dumb.

Er um, what's with us thinking the new person we've never met is a body double? Not like we'd know. Honestly best way to tell is pull out the experimental clear seed and see if she can tell what we did to it.

Even if someone had replaced her, her soul powers are Rare so no way they can copy that easily.

We can use the Grief we have with Mami to communicate.

We can write in the air, for example, at an angle Riona wouldn't be able to see.

We can even make a Grief keyboard for Mami to talk back to us, since we could feel which keys she presses.

Ah, cool, just so long as there's a plan. That last one is cool, hadn't thought of that.

How did she enchant the flask and what does it do?

... it's clearly polyjuice potion. Definitely. }=o)

Mmm, so long as we're clear we mean "a Walpurgisnacht-class Witch" and don't leave anything that implies we're specifying the upcoming Walnutmart. I mean, while that's definitely the one we're referring to, I think not accidentally implying it (so we don't have to lie straight-up if anyone asks) is important. Bright side- we're actually conversing in English this time! Which means our implications mean what we think they do! Not that that's been a problem much in the past, but it's admittedly something I worry about sometimes.

Otherwise.... mn, some concern about how specific we are about the wording of the hypothetical/probably wish. Can we be as nonspecific as possible there? I feel like even a hint of the keywords "fix everything" being referenced about us by anyone but us is going to give Homura an upset. Otherwise, yeah, that's proooobably a reasonable extent to explain, as long as we make it clear that we're not fully sold on this theory.

What are the other current ones- UKG, which we can't bring up but which is functionally close enough to "reincarnated Walmartnut" to be unnecessary here... Feathers, because wings and balance and bullshit... Created whole-cloth....

Also, yeah, if this is Hijiri, she's used up her "not capturing her to avoid making her feel trapped" card, and I'll be onside with advocating stopping her hard, and then talking to her later.

... after we confirm this isn't Riona. If we learn that all we know is Hijiri is missing and Riona is too, I'mma want a bit more confirmation before we just straight-up attack. There are other reasons Hijiri could have disappeared, ranging from "Riona nommed her" to "someone else murderlyzed her" to "somehow she got ahold of another privacy jammer device", and I reckon we need to keep that in mind. Because going full murderblender if there's something non-obvious going on could cause us more problems than it solves.

Hey, I'm sure Riona will understand if we tell her it was the most efficient and quick way about it. Sayaka might have copied Yuma's power, so she can restore Rionnna really quickly, too! :V

Jokes aside, Sayaka does have Kirika's selective anti magic blast, so that plus timestop and whatever Mami prepares should be good enough to stop Rionnnijiri, and gem her if she tries anything.

Given all of this, I'm going to make a protovote:

[] Use the mami greif to:
-[] Ask mami to ask Nadia if she can contact Riona
--[] If she is reachable, call homura and sayaka and to enter the privacy sphere in time stop
--[] Use sayaka to anti-magic on the impostor
--[] Get mami out of the room, this person may use information as a weapon
-[] Attempt to contact Hijiri

[] While waiting for mami's research
-[] Ask what she sees in us
-[] Tell her we intend to find a way for all magical girls to not suffer, and we could use her help.
-[] DO NOT tell her anything about us

I think proceeding with Redshirt's plan should be fine, while waiting on Mami.

It's fortunate we didn't tell Riona about Witch runes, and Witch names. I guess we should keep those a guarded secret, just in case.

OK, so I've changed Rion+a's Witch name. I made a mistake, and I apologise for the confusion. She's not Hijiri in disguise this time, no. :p

I have... other plans for her.

Alright! All that panic and worry for nothing.

It really did seem frighteningly plausible the more you thought about it, so thanks for clearing that up...

Back to the normal votes then.

That's not ominous at all.

So what you're saying is that it's a real good thing we perform those checks, and we should keep doing them until they're an automatic action literally every time we come into sensing range of anyone ever. Gotcha.

Well, from what I see it was an overall win: identifying meguca by Witch name resulted so useful that caused the GM to make a retcon. That's pretty reliable.

Encouraging cultural acceptance of transhumanism should be general policy in SV quests. :V
