I don't think there's quite that high a chance of pissing Riona off to dangerous levels, as long as we stay on track and don't actually waste time.

We should set clear guidelines and conditions for when and where we'll answer her questions, promising her that we will. Just need to check some checkboxes first, you know?

If we're doing something useful while checking those boxes, like attending to Riona's accomodations, which is a necessary thing that needs to happen, I think we can extend the time it'll take for Riona to snap.

We shouldn't say we know future events or possible events or specific people. But stuff like general science/history, languages, the nature of the magical girl system are fine.

She's our best bet at breaking the system, we are almost certainly going to need her help. And we know from Nadia that she's not malicious. What good reason is there to withhold from her information that will help her be more useful to us?

Anyway, I agree that we need to be as to the point as possible. Get in her in a privacy sphere/bracelet, explain our theories. Do NOT say anything that might link to Madoka or Homura, or our friends in general.

Hang on, a thought. Would it be possible that Riona is so bad at social, that she casually/bluntly drops the witchbomb in front of Mami? This is probably my paranoia acting up, and I doubt Firn is that cruel, but it's something to keep in mind.

Anything else is either a lie, unconfirmed, paints a target on our friend's backs, or some combination of the above. It's the only honest, ethical answer. If Riona is unable to work with us because we don't know, then fuck her.

All the more reason to not beat around the bush and get her locked into a privacy bracelet pronto rather than beating around the bush.
 
Can't we just use the time honored Kyubey tactic of revealing only the truths we want revealed? As in:

"I have no idea, I woke up in an alley with amnesia a few weeks back. Anything else is speculation at best."

and from there just launch into the usual "We wanna help people." spiel. All true facts that aren't liable to get anyone in trouble if soulguca turns out to be hostile. Also should placate her while we get some info out of her.
 
Saying "we don't know" without context or explanation of our hypothesises isn't ethical at all. It's being just like Kyubey.

And saying "We don't know what I am but I have some hypothesises" without saying what they are will just lead to more questions. Saying the full truth would be revealing too much, so the best course of action would be to mention a hypothesis without revealing anything that could point at any of our freinds. So any ideas would be appreciated.

Come on, we've dealt with Ono fucking Megane and Darth Akiko at her most magnificently insane. Granted, neither ended very well, but we are all alive, at least.

To be fair, we dealt with both of those incredibly poorly. :V

I do think we can take Riona at face value, which means she's probably being honest about having looked for a power like ours for years, which both means that our goals are probably mostly aligned, and that Riona is going to extend us some slack - after all, if she pisses us off enough that we can't cooperate, then she can't accomplish whatever she wanted a grief manipulator for. (Probably dewitching, but it's best to not make assumptions.)

You're right. A far better response would be "I don't know for certain, but I have a Hypothesis, would you like to hear it?" And just prepare one that won't lead to possibly disastrous consequences if it spread/she investigates.

I'm also really annoyed that she cut our time with Noriko and Akemi short. And she has the gall to act like we're the ones inconveniencing HER.
