  • [X] Good Mourning Mitakihara!
    - [X] Invite Kazumi for Radio Morning Asunaro too.
[X] After the conversation, if it went through: Kazumi, Niko:
-[X] Ask about Hijiri, share that you want to try talking with her. Defer to them.
--[X] Defer to later if they want to sleep in a bit.
[X] Nerd out over 4-space with Mami during breakfast and on the way to school.
    [X] Grief:
-[X] Is the Grief you enchanted yesterday still primed?
--[X] If not, enchant enough Grief for a Privacy Sphere.
--[X] Test how long the enchantment lasts.
-[X] Keep an eye on your 4-space with grief fog and sensors.
-[X] Stuff something mundane into 4-space. See if it remains stationary relative to our gem or if it has some natural motion.
    [X] Telepathy (not too early!)
-[X] Give a randomly selected person a salient compliment
-[X] Hijiri (unless Kazumi or Niko disagree)
    --[X] Be polite.
--[X] Offer an update on Anri.
--[X] Ask about her Grief levels.
    [X] Warn and visit O&K.

So does anyone else think the "4D space" is actually their proto-barrier? It certainly explains why Mami's Soul Gem didn't show up, and why Sabrina's was seen in her true(?) form. It also explains why Witches all "spontaneously" gain Barriers if in actuality the power was always there and is simply matured now.

That would be experiment fodder - construct a testing chamber in 4d space and connect it to a doorway that can extrude into 3d space to allow entry or exit.

Edit
Also does storing grief in the fourth dimension affect the witchy feeling in any way.

You can't help but eye the door, thinking as you shower. You're still out there, with Mami clinging to you, but you worry about her. She's getting better. Slowly, ever so slowly, but... she's still so very scared of you leaving. She's terrified of it. Sometimes, she's still afraid of contradicting you.

You tilt your head back and let the water cascade off your face.

You're helping her, yes. And she's getting better. She laughs and smiles and lives, each more genuine than the last, but you can't help but worry about her dependency on you. You have no intention of taking advantage of her, and you try not to, but...

There are reasons a therapist needs to maintain a professional distance from their patients.

And yet there's no one else who can help.

It's a thin, thin tightrope for you to balance on.

Towelling yourself dry and changing, you step out. Mami's gaze snaps to you, and you hug her tight as you join her on the sofa.

"Hey," you say, smiling at her.

"Hi," she says, and cuddles into your double-sided hug.

You smile at her, banishing the melancholy. You're here, and you're here to help.

Mami smiles back.

"Bit of television before we sleep, or something?" you suggest.

"Good idea!" Mami agrees, waving her hand vaguely for the remote. You laugh, and fetch it for her with a bit of Grief.

The two of you settle in and relax, watching some gameshow or another until it's time to sleep. You walk to the other room and dissolve your clone, smiling at Mami. You'd considered testing the persistence overnight, but then again, you don't want to disrupt Mami's sleep.

Nyaaaaaaaaaa...

We can do better, nyu! Mayhe... I gotta think about this...

[] Call every magical girl you can
- [] "GOOD MORNING!"
-- [] Explain to confused girls that this is now a daily occurance.

[] Compliment a random magical girl
- [] Get Best Buddy in on it. Double the compliments.

[] Do some SCIENCE

[] Telepathy Kazumi.
-[] Ask about Hijii, inclde Niko if necessary. Tell them you're gonna try telepathying Hijiri.
-[] Once not-too-early, coordinate with Kazumi and GOOD MORNING ASUNRARO AND MITAKIHARA!

[] Randomly compliment Kirika for being cool.

[] Is the Grief you enchanted yesterday still primed?
-[] If not, Prime enough Grief for a Privacy Sphere.

[] Try to shield your Grief in all dimensions without Witchy Grief.

[] Call Hijiri.
-[] Be polite. Offer an update on Anri and ask about her Grief levels.

We should talk with our imouto at some point, too.

Does everyone realize we need to hang out with Sayaka Prime while Sayaka sends a Sayaklone to school so then she the Sayaka we hang out with can have food because we totally must take Sayaka along when we do our ritualistic 'invite Koko and Yuma to breakfast/brunch/lunch' thing, which means Sayaka and Koko will share a table today?

EDIT FOR RANDOMNESS' SAKE.

[Q] Randomly send Homura telepathic hugs.

Mami makes a disappointed noise at the loss of your presence from her shoulder. You grin at her, resting a chin on either of her shoulders. "Hey, I'm still here~"

"I know," she says, smiling at you.

It's not quite dark in here. You can't feel anything beneath your feet, and your eyes sting against the vacuum. But none of that is really a concern to you as you swing yourself about, Grief manipulation twisting your Grief-formed body.
Holy shit. This is huge. We can literally just have a clone fight for us.

Considering we got Tsubaki really interested in meeting Sabrina in spite of her (justified) initial wariness, and getting confirmation she doesn't have problems with Grief Seeds... that call went really, really well.

Mami forgot to turn her swag off. She's gonna wake up covered in Sabrinas.
I believe on a more practcal sense it means Sabrina can send a clone to make breakfast while she's snuggling against Mami waiting for her to wake up.

"I'm coming to visit!"
"Sabrina she lives in Iceland."
"Still going!"

Well, if Sabrina can finagle a Grief Construct that can manage sub-orbital flight, then anywhere in the world would be reachable within an hour or two. Of course, she might also accidentally trigger a nuclear war in doing so but I'm sure Kyuubey could handle that.

Alright, so um, I wanna talk about why I don't find Mami and Sabrina's relationship to be particularly fucked up, even if Mami is kinda fucked up.

First off, Sabrina is a teenaged girl. She's not an adult, and definitely not a therapist. Expecting her to fulfill the role of one is ridiculous. I have been forced into the role of playing therapist for depressed/suicidal friends multiple times, and it does not work. Because I'm not a therapist. I'm an adult, at least, which is more than what Sabrina has going for her.

Secondly, people with mental issues are allowed to be in relationships. I know a shitton of people who have more mental issues than Mami does. Heck, I am probably less functional than Mami. If Mami were not allowed to have a relationship due to her mental issues, then the vast majority of the people I know would not be allowed to have relationships. Yes, sometimes there is a power imbalance, which could be taken advantage of by an abuser. The thing is, just because abuse is possible doesn't mean it's going to happen. Sabrina has not abused Mami, and in fact has been a good influence on her, encouraging her and trying to push up her self esteem, and make her less limpety. I believe that being with Sabrina has actually had a positive impact on Mami's mental state.

Thirdly, they're hormone-driven teenagers, and they like each other. Teenagers are gonna be teenagers.

Okay, that's just what I wanted to say about their relationship. Onto mental issues! We should get a real therapist. We've brought the idea up to Sayaka and Mami before apparently.(or so I've been told on Discord, I don't actually know on which pages that was)(EDIT: They're here) Sayaka was apparently unimpressed by the idea(which doesn't say much because Sayaka), and I have no idea what Mami's opinion on it are. Regardless, an actual therapist who's actually been trained for this kind of thing could be a huge help, I think. Of course, we'd have to inform them about magic, and a good bit on the general fucked-up ness of the system... We could probably lichbomb them, but I reckon we can hold off on the witchbomb until we know we can trust them to not be stupid with it.

So then it's a question of actually finding a suitable therapist. Considering this will probably mostly require internet searching and stuff, maybe we could ask Hitomi and/or Madoka to try and find one? Hitomi's got a fairly good head on her shoulders iirc, and Madoka probably would appreciate being useful and helping out, considering her insecurity about not being able to help others as much as she'd like. We could ask Hitomom for help too, because she's an adult and has her adulty wisdom. She probably has a lot less free time, though, due to the whole 'being an adult' thing.

"Think about it, and get back to me?" you say, smiling. "I mean... in the long term, I want adults in general to know about magic. Meguca isolation isn't really good for us, and hey. I want shrinks."

Sayaka makes a disgusted face. "Psychologists? Really?"

"They would be very welcome for magical girls in general," Mami says, her finger rubbing against her Soul Gem. "Especially considering... you know."

"Yeah..." you say, hugging her.

Part 17 of this chapter. Mami is all for it, as you see.

The Mumi Quest participants must have jumped at the potential opportunity to further boost their SAN score. :V

I've been thinking of asking Hitomi's mom for references of a trustworthy psychologist.

Yeah, Hitomom is probably the first person we should ask. She's the one most likely to simply know a therapist already, by virtue of being an adult. If that doesn't work out, the Internet it is. Unless we're planning on magicbombing any other adults soon...
