We have an at least 100m^4 radius of extra-dimensional storage space. At this point, we can't just steal from the base, we can steal the base.

We are the Azure San Francisco. She is us.

At least having Sabrina with her will mean this time, no mortars. Since Grief lets us do heavy lifting, Homura can concentrate on firepower from the top of the range.

If we're going to steal heavy artillery, then there's better places to steal it from than the JSDF. We have transport capabilities that Homura does not, so we can fly over to Syria and rob Assad blind instead.

..And teleportation. Bingo.

As far as Sayaka, and the remaining contradictions in her own behavior -

We are in the sempai position. One of our quality checkpoints will be to help raise her up into the Just woman she wants to be. No Pressure, guys.

I think we should consider the geo-political consequences carefully before stealing military equipment that's in active use.

Syria is a clusterfuck without us adding to the pile.

Edit: this remains true in 2011. Arguably, this will start the conflict earlier.

It's April 2011. ISIS isn't a notable factor in Syria yet. The only use Assad is currently putting that hardware to is against his own population.

I guess we could steal from Russia instead. It'll be newer hardware.

The Narrator, I delight in your altruism and desire to help a common man, but disarming one country without disarming all of them doesn't create anything, except for power imbalance.

About finding Russian armaments. Well, good luck. ;)

I don't know enough to predict exactly what would happen if Assad suddenly lost a large amount of his Russian equipment, but I doubt it would be as simple as him loosing the ability to oppress the population.

How will Assad and his various subordinates react to this suddenly vanishing military equipment? Probably not by just standing down and being less aggressive! How will Russia react? How will the world react? What will they think happened? Who will they blame? None of these are simple questions, and it's very far from obvious that the answers will be better then what happens otherwise.

Look, whether we want to or not, we're not going to take all of their weapons, because we can't use that much stuff. How many 155mm howitzers do you think we can operate? We'll probably loot like one storage room and not even take half of what's there.

As for the question of how it might change things... does that not apply to stealing from the JDSF? If we're really worried about that, then maybe we shouldn't be stealing from militaries at all.

I... I didn't actually think we'd steal from JSDF. I was just shitposting as usual. Of course no, good god.

Criminal organizations are generally easier to steal from, because it doesn't create international incidents in our wake. Bonus points if it has monopoly in the country, or at least the city.

Look, just steal all the weapons in world. :V

"No, Homura, it's a bad idea. The Arleigh Burke destroyer has a normal crew size of 275 people, and we don't have nearly that many magical girls available, even for Walpurgisnacht..."

...

"Well, yes, Sayaka can create a lot of clones, but it's still very..."

...

"Yes, it's only 160 meters long, so if I was standing in the middle, it would be completely in my control radius, but we can't crew a naval vessel with chibis. It's undignified. I mean, we could, but..."

...

"Look, it's not reasonable. Somebody would notice."

...

"Well, we're naming it after Mami."

For me personally, if an action clears all of these, I'm fine with it even if it might be manipulative. My disagreement with @matthew badger I think comes down to what we think the answer to 1 is, for example: I think telling Homura that we want Oriko rehabilitated and free eventually wouldn't upset her that much, while he thinks she'd feel very betrayed.

I think one answer to this would be: if one thinks she wouldn't react that badly, then why not just tell her? I mean, even if it were not gonna have any actual impact in regards to convincing Homura and Sayaka to change O&K conditions of imprisonment, telling them could actually help us avoid any future problems product of Sabrina, Homura and Sayaka not being on the same page in regards to what they are in fact gonna do with O&K after the new confinement measures are applied.

Why no lie detector. Why.

In Homura's eyes? "Do you intend to hurt Madoka?" "Do you anticipate that changing in the future?"

That won't help with Sayaka, but we have much more leverage over her and we can hope to appeal to her principles.

Right, and that's the issue. Because the only honest answer Oriko can give to that is "if necessary, yes." Oriko would absolutely kill Madoka if she thought that otherwise Madoka would become Gretchen and, y'know, kill everyone on Earth.

This is what worries me to, we know Oriko doesn't want to hurt madoka right now, and she probably wouldn't want to do so anytime soon; but what if Homura specifically ask an hipotetical question in the veins of, but not quite, I'm just lacking imagination right now, "is there a chance you would/might* try to kill Madoka for the greater good once feathers isn't an issue anymore?"

Are we sure Oriko will answer "no"?

* I'm not sure which word to use here, I'm not an english speaker.

Edit: I think using /would/ would mean: "If she had chances of succeding, would she do it?" to which I'm afraid her answer may be yes, and using /might/ is more like "does she have any chances of" to which the answer is probably not, considering we have a say in it.

Clearly we should rob Best Korea. Steal their entire nuclear arsenal and sabotage their conventional weapons aimed at S Korea. Clearly nothing could go wrong with this plan whatsoever.

I'm fine with telling her that. I also think it's a bit superfluous, given everything we've said during this conversation, as well as previous ones. That we don't intend to keep Oriko and Kirika locked up forever, should be blindingly obvious at this point.

It's a thing that Homura has done in the past. So us offering to take her on a "shopping trip" implies that we're going to be stealing military hardware from somewhere.

Well, yes, she did those things. Homu is very singleminded in her purpose and doesn't really think through political and social ramifications of robbing a military base or two, because she has an immediate problem: demolishing Walugimart.

I just, well, I hoped that we are more emotionally mature than a heavily traumatized teenager who has done nothing for eight years except for reliving a month long nightmare again and again. And well, if it comes down to that, it looks like most of the military hardware she's stealing is from the U.S.A military installations. it's not as dope as teh Rrrrrussian Nueks, I'll admit, but still adequate. :V

More importantly, it doesn't really work. Walpurgisnacht just shrugs it off like so many craptons of sand. So, yeah, we'd better look out for some magical bullshit to hurt Walugi with.

...I'm not actually sure why the questers wanted more ammunition. Is it the family bonding thingy? Is it? o_O

The JSDF isn't in any active military conflicts right now, so while vanishing equipment will raise Serious Questions it's not going to prompt anyone to start shooting at things, and probably won't even be an international incident since Japan doesn't need to account for the loss to anyone else.

Pretty much, yeah. Remember how confused she was because we wanted to do something with her?

I'm honestly much more interested in hitting the Yakuza to drum up some cash. If Homura gets some small arms out of the deal, great.

I propose we sign out all the equipment we take as "The Tokusatsu Rangers" and the notes section "to defend Tokyo against Queen Walpurgis and the Night Witch forces."

I also propose we leave behind some hard to produce, highly valuable substance as collateral.

[X] Propose making a robust Grief-construct lie detector, testing it among yourselves, and having you and Homura question Oriko and Kirika with it. If it works, you can eliminate the question of trust altogether. You could even make questioning sessions a regular thing, if absolutely necessary.
[X] If Sayaka isn't willing to provide escort for them, you will. You've done it before, after all, and things went well. Besides, you've already trusted Kirika to have your back in combat more than once--and she's performed above and beyond expectations every time.

[X] More on the GENERAL topic of adult help now? Anri is still out there. We still need civic development assistance. Refugees are in mourning.
-[X] Emotion is the defining feature of our powers. We need to get better at emotion. There is training.
-[X] Ask alternatives. Ask preferences for how they want to see this happen.
--[X] If Rionna aides us we have no way to cement those gains, or spread the help once she leaves.
-[X] We interview and hire crisis intervention psychaitrists NOW. Therapists for emotional skills development next.
-[X] Older Magical Girls might be worth contacting now? Tsubaki?
-[X] Watch DVD. Also enchant a little. That soft rock is ready for other magic now...? Pass it around. Or try to transform it into various objects.
--[X] Try to transform the enchnated rock into ice cube? A candle? Fruit? Imagine strongly
-[X] Telepathy Hijiri. Offer caring invite. Ask where she is bedding down. We could be helping.
[X] Telepathy Masami & Hiroko about Ono and Kuroki.
    [X] Tracking:
-[X] The same ribbon method that Mami used to track Anri should also work to let Sayaka track Oriko and Kirika. If they leave the areas we designate or break the connection, she'd know immediately.
    [X] Where to move them:
-[X] Move back in with Kirika's parents? Would they accept their daughter's lesbian lover, even if she's rich?
    -[X] Oriko's warehouse hideout?
-[X] What to do with Oriko's house?
--[X] Does Sayaka want to burn it down? Only seems fair.
--[X] Does Sayaka want to keep it? Only seems fair.
--[X] Use it for refugee housing?
--[X] Sell it to pay back all the people displaced by the apartment fire?
[X] Regardless of O&K, the issues of a justice system are still something we need to address:
    -[X] Getting adults involved?
-[X] Is this something Sayaka would want to share with her parents?
--[X] Would she want Oriko to confess to them?
-[X] Legal scholars? Maybe the Shizukis know somebody?
-[X] We really do need a psychologist to try and rehabilitate people like Anri. We can't just imprison her for life, especially when meguca are effectively immortal. Have to try to cure her.
[X] This day has been really long. Hug Mami.
