Witches are and wish inherently to be alone. I am not alone: I have Mami."

And yes, that's my vote, even if Kai doesn't actually end up voting. :V

Well I can't refuse that.

Idle thought. In PMKM, Hijiri wanted to kill the Pleiades (AND THE WOOOOORLD) because she saw them creating Kazumi... for their own nefarious purposes! [dramatic sound].

Even if everything else was the same, we can at least know this Hijiri doesn't have that.

"Well, the first thing I'd suggest would be to talk Niko into recognizing that stalking you is five kinds of creepy and not okay. The second thing I'd suggest would be to befriend her so she doesn't come back with a telescope, which would conveniently mend bridges with the Pleiades enough for you to feel comfortable living in the same city as them. That might not be possible I suppose, in which case I suggest you talk to the other Pleiades. There are seven of them, the chance of there being no common ground between you and any of them is nil. I understand that you are either afrad of or angry at them, but given that you have had minimal social interaction with them previously, I honestly suspect that it's largely unfounded."

-- What catgirl wants to say to Hijiri
Well, she and Niko did have some sort of talk. We don't know the details, though.

I'm not sure how well telling her to go make peace with the Pleiades would work... :p

We should be honest, forward, and thorough in our reasoning and explanation.

She asked what we would suggest. That is what we would suggest. And frankly, we're not likely to accept much deviation from it, given her actions; not if she's to go home. Also, Niko stalking her is seven kinds of not okay. Furthermore, what social interaction she did have with them was minimal AF.

I believe that's missing the point.

We'd basically be saying "Go solve your problem; make friends with the Pleiades. And talking is good."

I agree with saying that talking about the problems she's got, with the people she's got problems with, would help, but other than that...

Hijiri's asking for courses of action. I can get behind 'talking is good', but she needs more.

I don't think we can say much more. "Go learn more about these people before judging them" almost has to be the moral of the story here.

Hijiri's plot initially started with the goal of killing Niko, but then she decided to kill the Pleiades probably because them creating clones for their own selfish purposes hit a little too close to home for her. That, and she probably saw all the awful shit that the Pleiades started to do, like ganging up on Magical Girls and putting them in the Freezer and went, "well, I guess they're all awful".

Her wanting the destroy the world and replace it with clones was her hitting the cusp of insanity, probably not helped at all by her Grief Spiral. I honestly want to joke that she has an escalation problem, both with evil plans and her being a villain.

Remind me, what is Niko's and Hijiri's relationship with their parents? Because right now, in my head, I have a weird scene of us sitting them down with their parents, explaining what is going on, and watching their parents ground them.

Have to agree with Onmur right here:

Hijiri making amends with Niko and the Saints is a good endpoint, but it isn't what she needs now. Right now she's too close to her hate for them and suggesting that course of action is what she needs will just get her to blow us off.

Remind me, what is Niko's and Hijiri's relationship with their parents? Because right now, in my head, I have a weird scene of us sitting them down with their parents, explaining what is going on, and watching their parents ground them.
We don't know but given how Niko and Hijiri both behave, I suspect it isn't good.

[] Mami.
-[] Agree. Ask her to cover the skies, too; Airi likes to attack from above.

[] Hijiri.
-[X Optimally, she would talk about her problems; solve issues through understanding each other.
--[] Niko cares. Their family cares.
--[] Inquire about her talk with Niko. Does she feel they could reach an understanding?
-[] Possibly mention:
--[] Take a trip? Live a while away from everyone?
--[] Just... try things? Whatever comes to her head? Hell, post about it in social media while she's at it.
--[] Try talking with the other Pleiades? They didn't try to interfere with her and Niko's situation until now; they didn't know.
-[] Mention the problems of earning trust after this stunt, and about being a magical girl.
-[] Offer whatever help you can give.

Not entirely sure about this... (Specially the 'their family cares' bit. May be a little too much?).

Remind me, what is Niko's and Hijiri's relationship with their parents? Because right now, in my head, I have a weird scene of us sitting them down with their parents, explaining what is going on, and watching their parents ground them.
Don't know too much.

The Kanna family has (6 now ;)) members 5: The mom, the dad, Hijiri (later became Niko and was replaced by clone Hijiri), and two younger siblings.

We know that somehow Niko got a hold of a gun back when she was around three years old, and with some help from Diabulus Ex Machina, managed to kill two friends around her age and injure herself.

This would give us the idea their family was horribly neglectful, as to let such a situation happen. However, we know this happened in California, and I'd hazard a guess that might be a way for the PMKM writers to justify the story (IT HAPPENED IN USA. USA IS GUNS! RIGHT?).

On the other hand, we know from Hijiri's memories in PMKM that at least her mom cares about her. (There's a memory from Hijiri about her mom hugging her and asking her to stop blaming herself (of course, Hijiri doesn't know what the fuck she's talking about, so she's just confused. Good job, Niko)).

So... the writer's intentions are up in the air. They could've been neglectfu, they could've been caring...

At this point at least, the parents have dealt with the guilt for a very long time.

(Something to keep in mind when we go blow up at them about gun safety :p )

How they'd react to MAGIC? idk.

Quite well(?) I assume if the relationship is the same from canon. They seemed to know that Niko (originally Kanna) continually blamed herself for the incident in her childhood and wanted her to stop, but didn't really know how to handle it. When the latter didn't seem to remember the incident and started to live a normal, happy life, they saw it as her finally moving on.

It says a lot that Kanna's first reaction with learning about the original incident is being worried for her parents.

[X] Mami's suggestion:
-[X] Agree, but ask her not to push her limits too far; You're worried Anri might try something, possibly from above.
-[X] Pretend you're distracted from concentrating on Hijiri's question.

[X] Hijiri:
-[X] Suggestion goals:
--[X] Suggest just trying new things until knows what she can call her own. Define herself for herself.
--[X] Suggest getting out from under Niko's shadow for a while. And possible methods if she's receptive.
--[X] Carefully, try to find things that could address her loneliness.
-[X]Potential specifics:
--[X] She could take a vacation. Take time away, travel, and experience new things.
---[X] Bringing her family with her might be possible, if she wanted.
--[X] She talked about setting up in another city earlier. You could help.
--[X] Experiment with magic. Learning enchantments is both useful and a reason to travel and meet other magical girls.
--[X] Ask if she'd want to find other wishborn girls.
--[X] For all she has her problems with Niko, she could try and find common ground with the other Saints if she stays here.

[x] Answer Hijiri. More like something you'd hope to see happen before you leave here. It's your hope that Hijiri and Niko can come to some kind of understanding with each other.
[x] You don't believe they've reached the point where things are irreparable between these two 'sisters?'
[x] All anger and frustration side. You do believe Niko cares for her.
[x] They need to talk. Really talk and things obviously can't be the same anymore.
[x] Ask Hijiri if the Pleiades saw and treated you as a peer, maybe even someday a friend rather then someone to watch over, would she feel differently?
[x] At the end of the day, the Pleides can't force you to stay here if you don't want to be here. If there's no hope of Hijiri and Niko making amends then you'll support Hijiri's wish to leave. You'll even help her with the move if she'll let you.
    [x] Hijiri:
-[x] Get her thinking of specific ways she can move forward.
--[x] She could stay with her family here, with a Clear Seed. She won't need to hunt.
--[x] Alternatively, are there places she ever wanted to go or things she ever wanted to do? You can do a lot to help her.

--[ ] Try to understand each other.
--[ ] Extend a hand in friendship? Under conditions so you can all cohabit peacefully in the city?

Nah, I've read their comment.
Just busy at the moment, can't enjoy a good philosophical debate on the true nature of despair.

Chairs for the Chair God, Stools for the Stool Thro... Wait, that didn't parse right.

"YOUNG LADY WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL MY CHAIR?"
"Holy crap!"
"THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT! YOU ARE SO GROUNDED!"
"I'm sure she didn't mean it like that."
"Double crap!"
"See, she's just surprised to see you."
"Ah hah. So, daughter dear, what do you think about the Throne of Hope?"
"..."
"Be honest."
"... your chair is a.... it's a piece of crap chair, mom."
"WHY I NEVER! HOMURAKUMA! Talk some sense into your daughter!"

"How come she's my daughter whenever she disagrees with you?"
"It's a bad habit of mine, but please."
"Okay. Sabrina. You're right. It's a shit chair."
"Homuuuuraaaaaaa."
"Madokami, I'm sorry, but any chair that does not allow for comfy cozy cuddling is objectively a shit chair. Fact."
"It's a metaphysical embodiment of hope!"
"In which you sit without allowances for comfy cozy cuddling."
"That is your entire basis for judging chairs?"

"Yes. Ah. I mean no. I mean..."
"Suddenly I understand your rating system from when we browse furniture catalogs."
"To be fair, I also judge based on how well the colors of the upholstery compliments you."
"We will talk about this. As for you young lady, when you get to Madohalla, you are grounded for one eternity."

"... 'when' I get to Madohalla."
"I can make it two."
"It'll still be a shit chair."
"And you'll still be grounded... Why though?"
"You can't comfy cozy cuddle in it!"
"Huh. So that's what pride feels like when you're the devil, that's new."
"See. Your daughter. Well, since my refined taste in seating is OBVIOUSLY not appreciated around here, I bid you adieu. Harumph! Harumph I say!"
"So yeah, I'm probably sleeping on the couch for that."
"Seventh Day Sabrinaism is going to have the weirdest theological debates... Oh crap is this how mormonism got started isn't it?"
"Um, am I suppose to pretend this never happened or?"
"I'll clean up the continuity before I head back, this'll never not have happened, maybe."
"... you going to go stalk the 'Doka?"
"..."
"Am I going to have to ask Mom to come back and take you home?"
"That won't be necessary."

First option:

[] Simultaneously, Mami:
-[] Goals:
--[] Tell her that you think Hijiiri is trying to distract you
--[] Suggest a trap? You're not distracted, so you can take Hijiri without actually losing the chance to find Airi.

[] Simultaneously, the Pleiades:
-[] Goals:
--[] Tell them what you're doing and why.
--[] Hypothesize Airi is near you.

[] Simultaneously, Hijiri:
-[] Goals:
--[] Continue therapy
--[] Let her think you're distracted.
-[] Potential specifics:
--[] Suggest what you would to anyone that doesn't know what to do with newfound freedom: Experiment. Go out and try new stuff, find things that she likes doing that she can call her own.
---[] Provide examples if necessary.
---[] Getting her own place might also help; you can help her figure that out? You're already going to be trying to help Niko with her problems, at the very least find a less problematic coping strategy, and that's an easy addition.

[] Simultaneously, Search:
-[] Goals:
--[] If Airi is running, catch her.
--[] If she's ambushing, be ready.
-[] Potential specifics:
--[] If possible, don't come to a complete halt.
--[] Obscure your location: Decoy Overlords, condense a cloud around you, extend the Overlord so the passengers aren't in an obvious spot

First, lay a trap. But tell Mami and the Pleiades first, so they can prepare to respond and go on alert respectively.

Second, continue therapy with Hijiri. Throw out all the specifics, Brinapilot can provide those if appropriate. I don't think that they are; Hijiri's entire problem is that she feels like people are controlling her life, and suggesting things like that is going to put her on edge. She might accept advice on how to find new activities to try, but just giving her activities poisons them.

Third, play along with Hijiri's distraction, not giving away that we really, really aren't distracted at all. I'll note that slowing the MOF to a halt will look to Hijiiri like she's successfully distracting us.

Fourth, be ready. If Airi is going to snipe us, keep it from hitting.

Second option:

[] Change of topic: You really are on Hijiri's side here. You are actually serious about trying to get the best out of this for everyone, and that includes Hijiri, if she'll tell you what she needs. If she's this determined to get out of Asunaro you think you can convince the Pleiades to let her go. Not far, she did attack Niko, but moving closer to Mitakihara than Asunaro would let you run interference so Hijiri can live her life the way she wants.
[] Which brings you to the important point: Hijiri's little game here isn't going to work. Not only in the sense that you are fully capable of holding a conversation while hunting Airi and that you know that they're communicating, but also in that violence won't solve Hijiri's problems.

I strongly lean toward the first option. I believe that it stands a significantly better chance of giving us Airi, and she's the real threat here.

Dear Madokami on high, thank you. Thank you. I'm not sure you're actually listening to my prayers, and I'm not absolutely sure you were responsible for Niko and Hijiri resolving things, but thank you anyway. While I'm at it, I wonder if you have a preferred form of prayer? And if it isn't too much, some signs of what to do might be nice. I'm pretty sure I'm here for a purpose, but I don't know what it is.
"Hello, Sabrina!"
"Hello, Mom! I'm afraid I have a bit of a confession to make."
"'Mom'?"
"You see, I sometimes pray to you, and I was wondering if you had a preferred form of prayer."
"...what?"
"Is it alright to call you Madokami? At least in my head?"
"...eh?"

---

Man, I'm looking forward to the day when we can tell Madoka about us being her and Homura's wish-child.

By the way, Oriko seemed to like being asked for favours.

Wonder whether she really wants for something to do, or she just likes people begging things of her. :p

[X] Mami: Agree; ask that she watches for aerial attacks, too.

[X] Hijiri:
-[X] Goals:
--[X] Her finding herself a good purpose;
--[X] Recognizing her bonds with people as important and valid;
--[X] And dealing with her issues with words, not violence.
-[X] Possibly...:
--[X] Make pace with Niko; demand privacy; set rules?
--[X] A vacation?
--[X] Get to know the rest of the Pleiades?
--[X] Talk with her family about all of this?
--[X] Go out and try new things, whatever comes to mind?
