So I notice (at least in the quests I've read, disinclined to watch show) that with every contract Kyubey seems to say "Your soul has successfully reduced entropy" right afterwards.
As people have said, in the actual show he only says that when Homura makes her wish to go back in time. One of the laws of thermodynamics is that entropy always increases with time, so Homura's wish to turn back time would also have reduced entropy.

since Kyubey was interested in "the rare experience" of speaking to another Incubator in the form of Jubey.
There's some implication that the Incubators might be a hive mind. In which case, he's never really spoken to "another" of his kind, because all the Incubators are just him in multiple bodies.

I still think that's a terrible idea. Even if we could trust them not to blow the masquerade in the worst way possible or otherwise fuck things up, Meguca need someone to go home to that isn't a nervous, terrified wreck.
I...don't follow. For one, we can trust them not to break the masquerade, since Kyubey will ensure that it does not spread beyond the ones we specifically tell about it. And I don't even get what you're trying to say in the second part.

BTW, reminders.

  • Grief check Kuroki's phone.
  • Call the Tokyogucas for a meeting.
  • Check the meguca IRCs (and start/join Tomoe Mami Facts).
  • Ask Homura for timestop Science (practice Enchantment. Secondary: Practice being an aware Soul Gem).
  • Get Aurora from Oriko (probably after getting Enchantment down, since we may try shoving our magic into her Seed and don't want to kill her by accident).

You're probably right about the masquerade, although it still makes me nervous.

The second half, though? How do you think Sayaka's parents would take the news that their teen daughter has doomed herself to a lifetime of conflict and an early death at worst, and a life that is completely contrary to the normal, peaceful life they thought she'd be living, at best.

How would they deal with it?

Denial? That won't last.

Try to keep her from living as a Meguca? That'll generate immense conflict with her.

Try to accept it? They'll live their days wondering if their little girl will come home each night.

That kind of constant stress will weigh on them, and causing it will weigh on Sayaka, but she won't abandon her life as a Meguca. It's what she's chosen, and she's exceptionally stubborn.

She won't be the only one. Almost any parent knowing the situation is going to end up in pain or causing pain, one or the other.

As long as no one knows, Meguca can come home to families that aren't burdened by the truth, and gain some peace from that normalcy.

That's what I meant.

I read it as a DF creature.

Sabrina "Brina" Vee

"I can help all magical girls, everywhere!"

An obnoxious magical girl with a meddling nature. She squirms and fidgets when Mami is nearby. She knows and hugs all she sees. Beware her powerful wish!

Sabrina is enraptured by her close contact with Mami "Mumi" Tomoe. Lately, she's been enraptured by her close contact with Mami "Mumi" Tomoe. She felt pleased to have made a new friend with Kazusa "Kazumi" Subaru. She felt pleasure from sealing a deal recently. She felt pleasure from having a conversation with a child recently. She felt mischievous when waking her fellow magical girls recently. She felt contented by sleeping next to a significant other. She still feels abuzz with excitement when thinking about her recent date with Mami "Mumi" Tomoe.
She is a worshipper of Madokami.
She is a Citizen of Mitakihara. She is a member of the Mitakihara Quintet. She is an ally of the Orbs of Foresight and Love. She is an ally of Kyouko Sakura's Get the Fuck Off My Back About the Goddamn Name League. She is an Ally of the Shizuki Clan.
She is two weeks old and a bouncing baby girl!
Her snow-white hair is straight and cut short to her shoulder; it is also very messy. Her sky blue eyes are large and round. Her nose is slightly crooked. Her teeth are slightly forked. Her mouth naturally smiles when at rest. Her ears are large with hanging lobes. Her body is trim and lithe. Her skin is the color of porcelain.
Sabrina "Brina" Vee likes silver, white diamond and gold. She likes Magical Girls for their great hopes. When possible, she prefers to consume Mami's cooking. She absolutely detests Witches.
She is naturally upbeat and smiles at everything. She has superhuman multitasking skills, and a superhuman ability to meddle. She has a talent for music. She takes naturally to wishing, magic, and making Mami happy, But has a very poor memory. She absolutely cannot focus for any length of time.
Like others in her culture, she holds steadfastness and freedom to be fundamental traits everyone should have, has a great deal of respect for the law, loves cute things, values family greatly, sees artistry as a valuable skill, really respects masters of their field, deeply respects those that work hard towards their goals, prizes loyalty, respects fair dealing and fair play, greatly enjoys leisure, values martial prowess, respects the environment, and detests whales. She personally values friendship above all else, trusts in the eventual omnipotence of Hope, and believes in the bonds of those around her to a fault. She used to find Secrecy valuable in friends, but has lately taken steps to change that. She dreams of building an empire someday.
She's a loony. She's perpetually optimistic, even in the face of adversity. She respects cynicism, but strongly disagrees. She finds socializing to be a pastime not worth the effort. She easily falls in love. She is a staunchly loyal lover. She's incredibly friendly, and can sometimes turn people off her by being too familiar. She thinks very highly of herself. She often feels as though she knows better than others how they can best achieve their goals. She loves working with others. She enjoys watching others achieve their dreams. She's a intensely physical person, and naturally hugs everyone she meets. She enjoys combat, but detests the reasons people fight. She likes to stretch her capabilities to the limit. She has a passionate relationship with science, which can be dangerous. She enjoys traveling at Sufficient Velocity. She's a web rat, and enjoys surfing the internet. She's an enormous fan of Mami "Mumi" Tomoe, a local folk hero.

Uhhh, you missed the key detail a few seconds before that screenshot :

Sabrina is leaking into canon?!?

Writer A: Hey, apparently there's this character called Sabrina who's very popular. Let's write her into the show

Writer B: Sure, why not?

The new girl's hair looks light pink to me, while her face resembles Hitomi to me.

I don't see the resemblence to Sabrina.

And I don't even get what you're trying to say in the second part.
Parents aren't usually okay with the idea of their underage children participating in mortal combat. They'll attempt to prevent it if at all possible, and if they can't then they'll spend every waking moment freaking out about the possibility of their child dying.

In anime having teenage fighters may be the norm, but in real life it's a literal crime against humanity.

PMAS is a fantastic quest, but mainstream popular it isn't.

Ehh, I have a feeling that it has far more lurkers than active participants. I know I rarely ever vote here, sticking more to discussion over actually voting. Given that I can look down and see that there are roughly 20 people watching the thread at any given time, I'd say its pretty popular here.

But yeah, there is no way in hell anyone in Japan has even heard of this. let alone anyone associated with PPPM. Short White Hair is a pretty basic hairstyle in animeland.

It's like elections.

Way more people watch it and care than actually vote.

Or it could not, if the people who vote think it's not important and the people who think it's important don't vote.

You can accomplish the most if you participate in the discussion and vote.
true, but I am a coward. and for some reason get anxiety when it comes to making decisions that might tangentially effect others.

Also, I'm not saying I never vote, if I feel the vote is swinging too far into stupid I'll join into tactical countervoting. and when a quest I like is having issues making votes I'll occasionally attempt a write-in to get the ball rolling.

Edit: And to clear up any confusion, I always vote in the Presidential Election, because not doing so is fucking stupid. Even if it is two bad choices, you should always go, because you don't just vote on the President, but on your Senator and Representative as well. Plus, any major State Bills.

Part of the smaller voter turnout is that votes essentially get written by committee, and there's hardly ever any real conflict between plans. So the actual voting process is generally a formality.

To be fair, Hitomi's parents wouldn't be an issue in this regard. Hitomi isn't even a Potential.

As for the rest, well...it's a bit less of an issue than you'd think. Sayaka would be on the most overpowered meguca team in the world, with a power that is REALLY good, trained by some of the best around, and with access to a huge safety net in the form of Sabrina and Clear Seeds. Furthermore, the danger is already there--Witches and Familiars have always been around, praying on innocent, unsuspecting people whom are helpless to fight back--Sayaka being a meguca means that she has the power to defend herself against all threats, and has the ability to ensure that others (including her parents) are safe.

Would it still be stressful and worrying? Of course. But there'd be a lot of reassurance, and there's the major argument that the danger was always there, and that, thanks to Sabrina, Sayaka is in many ways actually safer than she was before--as evidenced by the fact that she was nearly killed by a Witch before she contracted. Yes, fighting Witches is scary and dangerous, but so is being a police officer or driving a car to work every day. Sayaka is on the most overpowered meguca team in the world, and she won't be fighting Witches alone any time soon--and she'll only get more versatile and capable as time goes on, thanks to her power.

Madoka's parents would be...less of an issue than you'd think. Madoka herself has expressed her disinclination to contract, and we can assure them that Homura basically acts as Madoka's personal bodyguard, and Homura is one of the most capable meguca in the world. Sayaka, her childhood friend, is a meguca herself, and Sabrina is arguably the most powerful meguca in the world. Also, Mami freaking Tomoe. Anyone or anything threatening Madoka is basically signing a death warrant. Hell, the main reason Oriko and Kirika didn't receive a .50-caliber lobotomy from timestop is because they never threatened Madoka.

This. The voting process is so much better, more polite, more collaborative, and more constructive than it used to be. That fewer people are voting is not indicative of less interest in the quest or in participation, but rather more trust in the voting process and the people involved.

For instance, votes seem to be by consensus the vast majority of the time these days, which is a huge change from what it often was in the past.

I think the change to including a moratorium on voting after each post made a big difference, but so did the threadbanning of certain vitriolic, hard-line, high-participation people.
