Okay, that makes more sense why I didn't notice it, it wasn't framed as a date...

EDIT: Wait, what if she's wanting it to be a date, but she's worried Sabrina would refuse?!

Then we try something semi-casual, semi-formal to wear.

That way, we're prepared for both
Bring 3 flowers(not a bouquet, too much), you know as an appreciative gesture, tell her how much we appreciate and thankful to her, let's see what else...

Yeah, there's possibilities.

She wants a date, but is trying to play it casual.

She thought it up casually, and is now wondering...

She's trying to figure out how serious Sabrina wants it to be.

Afraid that Sabrina might be expecting something different than what she's going with.

... Well, she's probably as uncertain as Sabrina is, at least. :p

So we should see how comfortable Mami is tonight, before deciding what Sabrina're gonna plan for when she invites her.

EDIT: If Sabrina's gonna raise the stakes, maybe don't raise them too much higher!

Mami asked casually... and we're gonna go for dinner without stopping anywhere.

Even if we asked Homu for extra time -don't cry Homu!- we'd be dressing up while Mami doesn't have the chance to do the same. She might feel bad if she's comparatively underdressed.

Or maybe not. But we shouldn't try to accidentally outstage Mami.

(As if we could )

I don't know if everybody's aware, but neither Mami nor Sabrina are exactly looking their best. We slept at Madoka's last night, then later this morning just washed our face an went on with the day.

So keep that in mind. Mami asked knowing we're not dressed for anything fancy!

I found what we're wearing, by the way.

"So, Mami, are we on time?" you ask as you step off, beaming at her and detransforming. You're left wearing a nice, button-down shirt and slacks in white and green, and you check your phone for the time.
(This is from before today's meeting with Nadia.)

Green slacks and white shirt? Depends on the shade of green, I suppose. Darker green would be better. A white shirt with white hair and pale skin? Well, it'd certainly make the blue of Sabrina's eyes stand out a lot, just from having color to them.

I just assumed we skipped over ablutions in the morning, given that we were never described bothering to change when we got home, yet our outfits were described differently between yesterday and today.

Hang on a second...

@Firnagzen ...

Looking at your testimony, you clearly describe what Sabrina was wearing today:

"So, Mami, are we on time?" you ask as you step off, beaming at her and detransforming. You're left wearing a nice, button-down shirt and slacks in white and green, and you check your phone for the time.

That's all well and good... Except that yesterday, what she was wearing during the picnic was also described. And:

Your phone buzzes, and you jump, unearthing it from your pocket. A message from Shin - they're here. You turn to Mami, finding her smiling at you. "Nagisa's here?" she asks.

"Yep," you agree, hopping to your feet and patting your skirt down.

It doesn't match!

If you look through "A Red Letter Day pt.4", you can clearly see that you did not include any signifiers that Sabrina changed clothes or showered. And the same is true of the parts before and after it. The only ablutions we see are these:

You give her a smile, and head off to wash your face, too. That only takes a bit, and you rejoin Mami on the sofa - she'd put her hairbrush down the moment she heard the door open to look for you.

And they clearly aren't meant to convey a change of clothes.

In conclusion, you, the witness, @Firnagzen , have left important events out of your testimony!

And that is not ALL!

Whereas one may suspect that Sabrina has changed clothes without this being noted in quest...

Something strange has happened!

Behold...

"So, Mami, are we on time?" you ask as you step off, beaming at her and detransforming. You're left wearing a nice, button-down shirt and slacks in white and green, and you check your phone for the time.
This morning, after passing by home, before meeting Nadia, Sabrina was noted as wearing slacks.

Slacks.

Pants.

HOWEVER:
Grief under your control moves fast, all but blistering the air as you slam it through the hole. The deep purple sphere bleeds mass, waves crawling across its surface as you siphon away congealed despair. It dwindles smaller and smaller, the downdraft of air dragged along by the Grief enough to rustle your skirt until there's nothing, the last, slender spike of Grief driven into the Incubator.
Later the same day, look at this:
the downdraft of air dragged along by the Grief enough to rustle your skirt until there's nothing, the last, slender spike of Grief driven into the Incubator.
SKIRT.

.

.

.

It is not only as Comrade Redshirt has shown, that Sabrina has somehow changed clothes without this being noted...

But she had, at the same time, not changed clothes!

She wore a skirt.

She had pants.

She had a skirt again.

All without changing
.

Thus I am sure, I am certain, this is a monumental time.

It's what we've been waiting for.

We have found our thing.

Our thing is literally pants.

Okay, that makes more sense why I didn't notice it, it wasn't framed as a date...

EDIT: Wait, what if she's wanting it to be a date, but she's worried Sabrina would refuse?!
It doesn't read to me like that. Mami doesn't seem like she was worried about how we'd take it, just happy and content.

But let's be honest, if we want it to be, this whole day can be thought of as date out with Mami. A working date perhaps, but we've been out of town, gone flying together twice, went shopping together, caught up with/introduced ourselves to old friends...

Dining out together is really just the capper.

Are we maybe wearing the pants under the skirt?

It'd be a bit odd but not unheard of.

Edit:

I've been waiting for this moment also.

... So I can be properly outstaged.

I have to say, I can't imagine if I hadn't picked up PMAS years ago. Not only did have fun writing a shitton of omakes here, but PMAS actually inspired me to grab pen and pencil and draw.

I suck at drawing. I always have. This is the first thing I draw ever since elementary school, and coincidently, my best.

I did have to stop drawing at the point I reached, though. I hit my limits. :p

...if the day has been a date with Mami, then we've been a terrible date! :o

EDIT: OH GOD, THE CHAPTER IS TITLED "A RED LETTER DAY"! WE'RE A TERRIBLE DATE!

Honestly, I've mostly glossed over changing, because hey. Teenaged girl.

That, on the other hand, is a continuity error. I'll fix that.

Super sads.

So today, the past has changed:

"I know," you say softly, reaching across to try and pull her into a hug.

She resists you, body stiff and unyielding. "She asked me to keep her away from this," she whispers again, shoulders shaking under your touch.

"I know, Homura," you say, moving your hand away from her shoulder. Instead, you shuffle a little closer, and raise it in front of her, fingers spread. She doesn't want a hug, but this is the next best thing, you hope. "Homura, I'm going to cleanse your Soul Gem, alright?"

She doesn't respond, head bowed low. You move slow and careful as you touch your finger to her Soul Gem, drawing forth an ugly, billowing streak of Grief. You wrap it around you in a bilious streamer before crushing it down and sending it sailing away.

"Homura," you murmur quietly. "I know. And I understand."

She shakes her head with a sharp, convulsive jerk. "How can you?" she whispers. There's no... despair in her voice. She isn't anguished about it, nor conflicted. What there is is a bleak, open acceptance.

"Homura?" you say, gentle and warm. "Look at me?"

Faded violet eyes flicker up to meet your gaze for a second before faltering, looking away. Looking past you, at Mami. "You- you should go."

"No," you say. "No, I don't think so. Homura, I know what happened. I know what Madoka asked you to do, all of it. I understand, Homura."

You remember, all right. The end of a loop... The end of Homura's third loop. They beat Walpurgisnacht, true enough, and there the two of them were. Homura and Madoka. They'd won, together, but the fight took everything they had. Their Soul Gems were full.

And Madoka had one Grief Seed left. Just one - Sayaka's Grief Seed. And she used it on Homura, and asked Homura to save her. To stop her from becoming a magical girl...

And to stop her from becoming a Witch.

Homura obliged.

"Then you should know why we can't tell Madoka," she says, hands clenching into fists. You can feel the way the tendons in her wrist pull tight, wire-taut and too prominent under her skin.

"I..." you stumble, lost for words. You scrabble for familiar ground. Arguing Homura down -arguing anyone down- from a position doesn't really come easy to you. It's always a fight, perhaps one you're sometimes too eager to engage in, but it's always something you have to devote thought and time to. "Back up a bit. Homura? I... I don't know what exactly you think of yourself, but you are not unforgiveable. Alright? Listen to me. I just- listen-"

You wait until she looks up at you before continuing. "I forgive you. I'm not the one you want to hear it from. I know." You shrug, a little sheepishly. "I said it before, but... You'll hear it from Madoka one day. I know you will. And it's probably getting old by now, but we are going to win this."

Homura slumps, head dipping towards the ground so that the black curtain of her hair hides her face.

"Madoka's smart," you murmur, thinking about how against all odds, she found a way to beat the system, once upon a never. And it worked for an eon, worked for the age of a universe, until it was brought down by the meddling of the Incubators and the heartbreak of one lost, lonely girl who accepted that she could be the devil.

Here's one more try, then. You don't know how it works - you don't know why Madoka Wished differently. Madoka is smart, and a Wish so oddly vague strikes you as running against the grain. And look where that got everyone: pheonomenal cosmic power in the hands of, well, you.

"She's smarter than just about anyone gives her credit for," you muse, shaking off the self-depreciation. "Even herself. I suppose that's my point, though. She's smart, and she has a big heart. I know she asked you to keep her from being tricked, and I agree. She shouldn't be tricked, and she shouldn't have to make a Wish."

Homura makes a quiet, broken noise, arm jerking under your fingers.

"For that reason, though, I don't think she'll make a Wish," you say. "I remember things that never happened, but I know that they could." You grin, faint and wry. "Madoka is Madoka is Madoka, right? I know of times that never happened, and she didn't Wish because there was no need to. Because she, too, understood."

"What other times?" Homura whispers, lifting her eyes to meet yours.

You bite your lip, realising the landmine you stepped on. Times that never happened, indeed: When Homura won. Something vague, then.

"When there's still hope left. I..." you say, breaking off with a sigh. "I know I've said it a lot, but I truly believe we're going to win. There is hope, Homura. Walpurgisnacht, enermy magical girls, whatever else might be coming: they can hurt us. We'll have to fight. But they'll beat us over my dead body. And maybe not even that, huh?" You tap your finger against your Soul Gem, smiling faintly.

Homura sighs, head dipping once more as her tightly relaxes fists relax. "I don't want to tell her," she whispers.

And that, perhaps, is a more compelling reason not to tell Madoka. It isn't reasoned in the slightest, but... you can understand not wanting to bring it up. Guilt, awful, awful memories.

"Alright," you say. You're trying to be better about not forcing your will on others, right? "May I cleanse your Soul Gem again?"

"That... isn't necessary," she says, but rolls her hand over so that the the bright amethyst of her Soul Gem faces you. She's right - there isn't that much Grief, but you wipe it away regardless.

"I won't push, if you don't want to," you say, smiling at her. "I know you've tried, in loops past, to tell others about it. I understand how hard it is, because of everything you've gone through. But Homura?"

You try to pull her into a hug, and this time she allows it, dangling limply in the circle of your arms. "You're not alone any more. Please remember that. I won't tell Madoka if you don't want me to. I promise. But if you do want to, I can help you with it."

"Please," she whispers.

"I promise not to tell Madoka if you don't want me to," you murmur. "Unless I truly, truly see no way out."

Homura nods jerkily, and sags against your shoulder.

Homura remains not very good at this "feelings" thing.

Dang I was really hoping we would finally get detailed answers about the last loop.

It's what we've been waiting for.

We have found our thing.

Our thing is literally pants.

I can get behind* this, I always thought the costume Sabrina had with pants was cool. Logically this can only get better if we wear all the pants. (Possibly at the same time) :V

Mami: Hey didn't I lend you my skirt, where did you get those pants.
Sabrina: These are them. I improved them for you.

Edit: *Just realized the pun there, Sorry...

I hope we can put this behind us.

Honestly, I've mostly glossed over changing, because hey. Teenaged girl.

That, on the other hand, is a continuity error. I'll fix that.

Dang it being able to randomly convert skirts into pants would of been useful in Asunaro, can we at least wear pants tomorrow!?

Don't corrupt Mami's skirts! :o

What will Mami wear then?!

Well, obviously she can pull off the pants look better than us, but still...

"Did you turn the skirt into pants?"

"Don't worry, it's only as long as I got them on."

"... Where did the extra fabric even come from?"

"Ha! See? It is baffling."

Clearly Sabrina needs to have a minor panic about meeting up with Mami in front of Homura so that she will feel the need to stalk watch us because that's what best mom would do :p
