Why not a gunblade? Or a chain gun blade?
What would be interesting, since her swords can explode, would be if she could shape their explosions.

That way, while fighting in melee, she could suddenly make one of her swords explode outwards, towards the enemy, without taking damage herself.

And it would most likely be a point blank explosion.

She swallows, visibly steeling herself.

"Hello? Miss Kazusa?" You can feel the connection going out, Homura, Oriko, and Kirika all listening in.

The response comes after a minute. "... Miss Tomoe?!" a bright, disbelievingly happy voice responds.

"Yes," she says, voice steady despite the tremor you can feel in her body. "I have- a friend who wants to talk to you."

"Never mind that, how are you?" Kazusa says. "I haven't heard from you in forever!"

Mami makes a quiet, broken noise and looks up at you. There's elation on her face, mingled with simple, open loss. She opens her mouth, as if to say something, but words fail her, and she shrinks against your side.
FFS, Mami... >_>

Sounds like an infantry-scale version of the anti-tank dagger from Full Metal Panic. Which makes it way cooler than any chainsword.

This is part of why I wanted to ask her about her grief & seed situation. If Kazusa says something like "Oh, we had a problem for a while but it's much better now" that's a possible indication that she witched and this is a clone. And likewise why I originally wanted a long conversation: in a long conversation there's a lot of room for hints like that and others to come up.
In theory, if she witched/is a clone, we shouldn't have been able to reach her via telepathy at all, as the girl that Mami knew would have been dead; a clone may be functionally identical, but she's still technically a whole different person.

The problem with this conjecture is that I haven't seen anything to support it. In fact I could very easily argue the opposite: Kazusa in that case would have a different body and her soul may be a grief seed instead of a soul gem, but puella magi are their souls, and unless I read PMKM very wrong she did still have the same soul gem/grief seed throughout. Edit: yeah it would have hatched to produce the witch, but by the same token the witch still condensed back down to become the seed again.

If she transformed into witch (and partially back) it would still be the same soul we're trying to contact; the brain it's using would be irrelevant. If we look at the telephone network analogy, just as replacing your phone and switching to another would keep the same phone number, switching bodies would still come up with the same telepathy network address.

Looking at the fact that, in some material, magical girls have a better connection to the telepathy network lends support to this: it implies that their soul gems are what's built to be hooked into the system, not their brains.

But the clone didn't have Kazusa's memories. The Kazusa we contacted recognized Mami. Ergo, not the clone.

...

Kazusa may have made a contract before, but Kazumi had not done so yet, which is why she could make her own wish.

Could someone give an explanation as to the series of events that produced such a convoluted character for people to argue about?

What was she important to the human instrumentality project or something?
