Do we? I've been picturing two hands this whole time.
The only visual example of enchantment in progress that I can recall was Mami enchanting Sayaka's bat, and for that she just touched it with one hand.

I've been assuming that the only real use for one's hands while enchanting is to touch/hold the thing being enchanted. As far as I know there aren't any somatic components when casting meguca magic.

That doesn't look like the scene where we kissed Mami.

You smile at her. "You're the best, even if you don't think you are."

Hell with it.

Arms still around her waist, you lean forward and brush your lips against her cheek.

Her face lights up, a bright, bright blush.

Mami's mouth works soundlessly, hand coming up to touch her cheek.

You huff, despite the blush on your own face. "Come on, Mami, let's go home," you say, and grab her hand to tug her towards the stairs. She stumbles after you, and starts to laugh, giddy and delighted, and then she leaps at you to wrap you in a tight hug. You nearly overbalance, but a shift of your posture and you pick her right up off the ground and into a piggyback carry.

Kyuubey's (not quite) Lament Omake

Were he a lesser organism, Incubator Unit 9, known locally as Kyuubey, would most likely have sighed as he lowered his head towards the mutilated remains of one of his former bodies, a motion he had performed countless times over his long tenure as an Incubator. Weariness was one of the few emotions he, unfortunately, did understand.

For perhaps the millionth time he silently belittled the being that had decided that Incubation units needed to 'taste' through their mouths. It could have been placed anywhere else, or better yet, removed entirely. A useless feature that only served to remind them how bland the incubation units were. Bland matter formed into skin and soft fur, bland matter formed into crude sensory organs, and bland matter formed into the gelatinous liquid that filled in the puppet body. Bland, tasteless, and possessing a texture like rubber no matter the form of it, recollecting the wasted matter to be reconverted into new mass was perhaps the most dreary aspect of an incubator's job. If only the locals realized what a task it was to devour it's own bodies. Surely then they might stop with the wanton destruction of them. But then again, showing that 'killing' him was little more than a minor inconvenience only seemed to encourage them to 'kill' him more.

Perhaps that Emotional Investigative Engine might be able to ... Grief!

Literally tons of it! Could a powerful witch have arrived in Mitakihara without his noticing? No... Were he capable of it, Kyuubey would have felt a growing knot of emotions drop into his 'gut'. Instead, he only expressed the thought 'Oh no.'

Quickly unhinging his jaw he swallowed the whole carcass in front of him, walked into the street, and, following the gazes of the dozens of people, looked into the sky. Was it a bird carrying the severed, but still animated remains of a Magical Girl? Was it a plane in the act of crashing because a pair of competing Magical Girl teams happened to have booked the same flight? Unfortunately this time it was neither.

A floating purple rectangle was shooting across the afternoon sky, chased by what appeared to be a sentient purple storm-cloud, both easily going *BANG* ...faster than the speed of sound.

Already he could hear the clicks of camera phones and the reports to the local law enforcers. (The photos would be have to be deleted, the call logs misplaced, and the memories altered)

With a stoic look born from centuries of dealing with Magical Girls and their bullshit, Kyuubey sighed.

Um, also, if it's 4PM maybe we should telepathy Kirika now? :) :)
We shouldn't forget to buy the things Kirika asked for. Stuff for an in-house date with Oriko!

That's a thought: When we're buying the stuff, chat with Kirika over telepathy, ask if she's looking for anything in particular, and ask if she knows a good place for a romantic dinner. And yes, we should say romantic; it's Kirika. :p

I'm pretty sure this is a matter that has been repeatedly discussed in this thread.

If I remember correctly, Maximum Hugs can be achieved by having Brina and three Brina clones hug Mami from each side, then adding a Chibi Brina hugging Mami's head.

:p

But you know, when we get home today, Mami's got homework to do... and we've got Enchantment to practice... so why don't we make a Chibi Brina to cuddle Mami while we're both working? :D
you write the vote for that and I guarantee you it will have my support...

Huh? We're totally capable of not being scary. I mean, our sheer power (and its nature) can make people uneasy when we flaunt it (willingly or otherwise), but Sabrina acts (sincerely) like a very nice, compassionate, and largely sane person.

With a Mami limpet.

...come to think of it, I think one of the major reasons why Mami is so...physically attached to Sabrina all the time is because she's still in a sort of cloud-nine about having someone sticking with her, fully accepting and caring about her, and fully willing to show physical affection (something she was probably deprived of since her parents died). Kind of like how Kyouko gorges herself on food whenever she's given the chance to eat to her heart's content, Mami takes every opportunity to bask in physical comfort/affection after years of being completely deprived of it.
Got an "Insightful" from Firn. Huh. Guess I was on the money, then.

It makes me wonder about Kyouko and Yuma, actually. Are they the same way when it comes to physical affection/comfort, at least in private? I know Kyouko has her whole tsundere thing going on, but Yuma's long since passed into the "dere" category with her (at least in private). Obviously, there are romantic connotations when it comes to Sabrina/Mami, but that's more because of how those two feel about each other in addition to Mami's need for physical comfort/affection.

I just have an image of the two in an alley in a rainstorm, busily being homeless, and Kyouko's sitting crosslegged with Yuma on her lap. Yuma is nodding off under Kyouko's chin, and Kyouko looks sedate too, but her eyes are still scanning for threats like a mother wolverine.

It's adorable.

Kyoko may not have been as big a physical affection person to begin with, and her issue anyway wasn't a lack of physical affection, but a betrayal of emotional affection.

As shitty as it was for Mami to have her students/friends leave her, that's nothing to the betrayal that is your father, who you basically worship, suddenly snapping and killing your mother and baby sister before killing himself.

I just take it Japanese people are not typically all that physically affectionate, so free hugs must be kind of a drug, even before factoring in Mami losing her parents.

They'd be in a hotel, though.
