Doesn't matter. If there are methods MGs who have been around for a while have for making money in a sustained way (legal or not), we need to know about it. Because...see below.

How? No, seriously. How are we going to pay for housing, food, clothes, hygiene products, utilities, and who-knows-what-else for what could be dozens of magical girls? Girls who probably won't even speak Japanese, to boot. Not to mention the fact that we'd essentially have a bunch of obviously-foreign teenage girls (whom might not be in the country legally) living alone, paid for entirely with cash.

Sure, we got a bunch of money from robbing the local Yakuza, but that is not sustainable. They'll wise-up eventually, either by not keeping money around in Mitakihara, or by moving out of the city entirely. It's 2011 (IIRC; can't remember the exact year); you won't find substantial quantities of hard cash in many places, and what few places there are will have security measures and cameras (banks and ATMs); sure, Kyubey will mindwipe anything that shows magic, but he might not mindwipe the culprit (so, if it shows Kyouko breaking open an ATM with magic, it might be changed to show Kyouko breaking open an ATM with a non-magical tool).

One girl robbing ATMs on occasion to get money to spend for herself isn't a big deal. Robbing ATMs to get money to spend for dozens of people, for years on end, is going to get noticed and acted upon eventually.

Agreed.

How? We don't have a bank account. Even if we did, it would probably look very suspicious to wire hundreds of dollars to various international accounts in a short period of time. I doubt the girls in question have such bank accounts to send money to, and I'm not sure that we can buy plane tickets for lots of other people without raising some flags.

Indeed.

Let's make sure we don't engage the timestop until after we're out of sight of Nadia. For now, it's best if information about Homura's powers doesn't become more widely spread than it already is.

Agreed.

Agreed.

Agreed about having Homura present, but see above.

Yes, this is definitely concerning.

Laundering money should be a priority. It would be nice if could had a hackerguca to contract with for that... We might also be able to use the Mikuni accounts. They might have been frozen or something but given that Oriko still has a damn mansion it isn't terribly likely, and Oriko Mikuni depositing bundles of cash wouldn't be terribly suspect, if perhaps a tad unsavory. For the girls, the standard excuse would be a study abroad program at first, might change over time.

In the short term it's workable. Beyond the short term we have other options. People have mentioned our ability to create various valuable physical materials via grief, that's certainly a viable option. Frankly we could construct some huge fucking gemstone via grief and auction it via proxy. Those things go for millions of bucks, and even if there's no records of it, it'll pass as genuine because it will be genuine (except, you know, for the part where it's artificial, but odds are we can make it "be natural"). That would be something of a one-time deal, but it would cover costs for a year, maybe years.

I don't think your objections really hold up under scrutiny. Not in the short to medium term, and past that we should be ashamed of ourselves if we haven't figured out a source of reliable income when we have so many bullshit powersets available.

What this tells me is that bringing her along at this time was possibly a mistake.

Yea, probably. But eh, she needed to learn this shit sometime, so now's probably the best time for it as opposed to "Don't worry I can grow my head back."

We owe Homura an apology, yeah. We fucked up. Another reason I feel like we should be talking to her with Doka.

Possibility to get adults involved in the housing of meguca?

Junko or Nagisa's uncle would also work. Actually, he might be better since we won't have to go through the whole "it's their kid's decision" thing.

We are going to tell Shin about KB and Nagisa being a Potential, right?
We don't know if Nagisa is a Potential in this timeline.

That would mean bringing all of the adults involved into the secret. Which is by no means a bad thing, granted, but it's something to take care of.

It also makes things rather awkward once we get into money laundering and robbing the Yakuza/ATMs/banks for cash.

We don't know if Nagisa is a Potential in this timeline.
She does; we sensed it when we met her.

As far as bringing the families in, I do think we should test with Shin and Junko. They're most likely to be accepting, and don't have the whole "Your daughter is already a magical girl" thing to worry about.

And I've got a suitably badass line for when we do start breaking people into the masquerade. "This system isn't built for heroes. But, then again, I always have been a system breaker."

Or something like that.

If we're going to commit crimes for funds, can we stick with stealing from criminal organizations instead of money laundering?

If we're going to commit crimes for funds, can we stick with stealing from criminal organizations instead of money laundering?
Money laundering isn't procuring money. It's the process of making it so that governments, etc. are less likely to realize that the money was procured in a less-than-legal manner, which does include stealing from criminal organizations.
It isn't really needed on a personal scale, but if we ever want to do things on a business scale, we either have to launder our money or get it by actually running a proper business.

Edit: Typo fix

Tell you what. If Sabrina's life ever becomes a noir, we can put that in her introductory voiceover.
Any and every time Mami walks into the same room Sabrina's in, Sabrina will stop whatever she's doing to narrate. She'll go on an on in detail about describing the mere fact of Mami entering the room, describe Mami's looks; hair, clothes, eyes, the very way she moves as she walks, etc., etc...

It'll get silly to the point of Mami walking in and out of a room repeatedly just to hear how many ways Sabrina can describe her.

well we cant just asume of what madoka is horrified so, we should ask her after when nadia isnt there, at least thats is what i think

too many variables as mordin of mass efect used to say

more meguca more fire power against walpy, but truble if they too early or too late, then the aftermath of the battle

give a second clear seed to nadia that for the more desesperated megucas that could come, but it would make nadia hard to travel or make her an objective

about housing the megucas in the future, well that depends on how far using our powers, underground? hard to construct, very unestable, a magical tower, too flashy, unless we can get a meguca that can cast an ilussion spell that camuflage it, where? maybe oriko's state? build the building and use magic that looks like the oriko mansion? maybe we should think that when we cross the walpy bridge

"It was a cold rainy night, one of those with one of those winds that chilled your bones.
I'd been working on this case, Something about some pair of girls going around smooching every Guca in sight. It was a harrowing and odd one, and I almost got hit a time or two myself...

But I was thankfully sitting here now, sipping on my hot, microwaved cup of tea, reviewing my files...

When she came in.

Her hair was a flaxen, lustrous gold, like streamers of sunlight, curling into wonderful spirals, her eyes like stars, sparkling golden in the gloom of this office living room.

Her face was fair and calm, a gentle smile aimed at me that made my stone cold heart take a beat again..."

"...." *Blush*

She looks way to wide.

[:V] Tell Madoka to lay off the cake

Mitakiharan nights were dark, as if the soul of the city had risen to fill the sky with smog and shadows. Nights filled with the sins of the city, the sins of it's people. They were the kind of nights to make a girl want a drink, something tall with a kick to it, like maybe a coke.

It was a bitter wind blowing outside, one carrying the scent of the rot filling this city. A rot that smelled like... rain.

A droplet landed in my tea. Maybe sometimes, rain was rain.

There was a click from the door, and a creak. This late at night I wasn't expecting a visitor, so I was immediately put on edge. The many people who might want me dead flicked through my mind. Oriko, Sasa, Walpurghis Nacht, Shin, Homura, Nadia, the Postman... Too many plausible candidates. I'd have to be ready for anything.

Then she walked through. Her doll-like face was puffy and red with the remnants of crying, and she dabbed at her eyeliner with a handkerchief that had seen better days. She had on a raincoat, and her hair was the color of the dirty gold stolen by the yakuza a few days ago that was now sitting in my safe. She was agile, gliding across the floor like a specter of beauty, even as she wept.

"Sabrina, I-... Is that a long coat? Like, a real one?"

"What seems to be the problem, dollface?"

"D-dollface?!" The woman said, turning red as the hands of my culprits when I caught them red handed.

"Yeah, see? You got a mystery that needs solving?"

"Mystery? Sabrina, when are you going to come home?"

"I am home. Solving mysteries and taking down hardcore criminals, like Vinnie Baloney. That scumbag."

"Who's Vinnie Balon- never mind. Sabrina, you have to come home. Mr. Tamihashi is going to be home any second and if he finds you in here he'll call the police!"

"Let him call." I said, trying to calm her down. "I'm on good terms with the coppers."

"Not after that incident with the postman!"

"That scumbag."

"Sabrina, you need to come home, right now!" Now the girl was obviously working herself up into a tizzy. I had to calm her down somehow.

"Hey, doll, you wanna come in for some tea?"

"How do you even make tea here, Mr. Tamihashi doesn't have a... tea... kettle...." Suddenly her face went from bad, to worse. It was a frightening expression from someone as beautiful as Mami Dollface. "Sabrina, how did you heat that tea?!"

"Uh oh."

Mitakiharan nights were dark, as if the soul of the city had risen to fill the sky with smog and shadows. Nights filled with the sins of the city, the sins of it's people. Of course, I was no exception. I shouldn't have microwaved that tea...

"... And did you do well on that test?"

"Mh-hm! Nagisa got top scores!"

"That's great, Nagisa!"

"You know what happened then?"

Sabrina smiled to herself, listening as Nagisa went on a random tangent about two classmates and a pot of glue. The teakettle started to hiss and steam then, so she carefully went about preparing the tea one handed, her other hand holding her cellphone to her ear.

She hummed along with her little sister figure's tale as she checked the time: Mami was about to arrive home from school.

The white haired girl spared a thought to feel happy about her roommate's de-limpeting progress, before she tactfully cut into Nagisa's chatter.

"Breathe, little sis! Hey, I got to go right now, call you later? ... Sure, see ya!"

The cellphone went into her pockets, the tray was easily picked up now that she had both hands available. A minute later, she was finishing serving tea in the living room low table, when she heard the sound of rattling keys.

"It was a cold, foggy day," Sabrina narrated suddenly as the door opened, "cheap cigarette smoke covered my office, as if the smog and fog of the city itself had forced its way in. Not that anybody minded; my eyes constantly fixed on my work, and anybody who frequented my office, well, they weren't the nicest sort."

Mami covered a smal laugh as she stepped in. "Hello, Sabrina," she greeted, closing the door after herself.

Said foreigner girl straightened up from her seat on the floor.

"Suddenly the haze lifted from my sight, the very cheap smoke parted ways to let me see... Her. As soon as I saw Her, I knew my next days would be fraught with peril, for when does such a fair dame not carry danger on her step?"

"Did you bake those? They look delicious!" commented Mami while she dropped her bag.

"She walked her way into my dingy, messy office as if it was the cleanest, nicest place in the world. And right then, it was: Her mysterious smile and eyes like honey were like a balm to my very Soul, the sway of her hips enticing, the long, flowing trail of gold that was her hair sweeping the darkness away, as if a ray of pure sunlight had broken through the old, broken shutters of my window."

Mami absentmindedly fiddled with one of her hair drills as she looked away, cheeks red, smile wide. She went to sit down, but first she leaned across the table and quickly pressed her lips to Sabrina's cheek for a second. Then, while Sabrina valiantly tried -and failed- to fight off a face splitting smile, then did Mami sit down.

"I knew she was trouble, oh I did, but nothing could have prepared me for what happened next. I could understand her presence in my office, after all, pain and misery cares not for beauty; I could almost comprehend her familiarity, coupled with her magnificient grace, it spoke of someone who danced with death every night, and had danger for breakfast."

Mami giggled.

"But then, then this dame, this otherwordly dame waltzed up to my desk, and with no warning, threw herself on my arms -as if I was worthy of holding something as elegant as She was- and planted her lips on mine."

Mami giggled harder, covering her cheeks with her hands.

"My world stopped, or maybe the world actually stopped at that moment. I couldn't tell up from down, nor who I was, or where I was; it was like the foggy streets of London has vanished, and I were sitting on a cloud above the clouds, where the sky is always blue and sunny, unlike down on the dark, gloomy earth we were destined to live in.

"I couldn't think. I could only feel her smooth, lustrous lips brushing against mine, a hint of old tears the only flaw in those perfect lips, that perfect moment."

Mami finally dropped her face on her hands, not able to hold Sabrina's gaze any longer. Sabrina's shoulders shook alongside Mami's, the taller girl desperately trying to contain a nervous laugh.

"And then it was over. Her lips left mine and with them went the sun, the warmth of Her body left mine, left me cold and lonely once more, Her endlessly long legs brushed against mine for a last time as she stood, up and away she turned, and my hands wanted nothing more than to reach out and hold her once more. I could hardly stop myself, wishing for nothing more than to slip my arms around that thin waist as she turned, or to caress that long, golden curtain of hair...

"Then the dame sat down in front of me, on the same old, ratty chair as any other of my low life customers, and I knew. I knew that, no matter what she said, what she asked me to do, I wouldn't ever be able to say no.

"I was trapped. Caught like a dumb fly in a spiderweb, and worst of all, I couldn't help but to cherish every moment of it."

Sabrina's hand reached across the table, taking hold of one of Mami's, and gently tugging it away from her face.

Mami shily looked up at Sabrina, at her wide, happy smile, and let their fingers interlace together.

"I lamented myself then, for I had only the cheapest booze to serve in my office, not the high quality of spirits this dame deserved. I also knew this would be the least of my problems in the coming days."

Their hands still holding each other on the table, Mami took her cup of tea, already cool enough to drink, and took a sip.

"It's delicious, Sabrina, as always."

"But who was I to complain? For once in my miserable existance, I could feel my heart beat in my chest. For once in my life, I felt alive."

A chink of porcelain as Mami let her cup down, her hand coming up to wipe at her eyes, just once.
