Sure, if we can get the hacker girl on full time to handle paperwork issues.we could also let them go to normal school ala Mami, Sayaka and Homura.

@Kaizuki would funding be an actual issue for us in the future? I mean we have a precog on her way to recovery, a geomancer and technomancer over at Sendai who owes us quite a bit, a dedicated healer in the same city too, matter transmutation might be within our power with some research, a power copier, and who knows what other wonderful magic fuckery the refugees might bring to help earn some easy cash.
IMO, if we need something to keep the refugees from being idle, why not bring a bit of normality back into their lives? Like maybe a semi-hidden academy for magical girls? We could headhunt and hire reputable educators and counselors (from outside Japan if necessary), and brief them about the meguca system.

As a player of meguca micro empire quest, I could tell you all about that kind of shit.Might be able to produce rare and valuable nanomaterials or cheaply smelt metals or all sorts of other possibilities.
Hitting bad guys and /looting them, RPG-style, will probably work for a few months of starting cash. After we've got some more girls around with more powers, new opportunities might present themselves, or at least we'll have the numbers to tackle various business ideas like courier services (the MSY classic). And we're going to need to take an interest in real estate eventually anyway, just to house everyone.
[X] You've thought about hiring her to serve as a diplomat of sorts to other groups, but since you'd give her a clear seed and clean her soul gem anyway, you're not sure how to pay her except with your borrowed yakuza gold, and that's not any fun.
-[X] That reminds you, you should tell Sayaka about the mop.
-[x] You'd like to hire Bennouna - real-money compensation, or you can figure out something else - as a recruiter and diplomat. Anyone that she meets that you should talk to, you'd like her to put you in contact with them. You can supply money to put them on planes to you, or you can fly out to meet them.
This feels like a dumb idea, but if Sabrina can keep solid grief in constant motion in her sleep without any mental stress, she could also provide electricity as a perpetual* motion machine.

n top of the clear seed you think you'll already be giving her
Mami already knows that Grief Seeds take grief from Clear Seeds; she was there when we discovered it in fact. She also knows that Seeds that are too full can hatch into Witches again. That's not going to witchbomb her.grmph
This should still be a question, we're not sure if she wants one or not, though, well, probably does. Also we didn't fucking tell explain that they can hatch normal grief seeds because apparently that doesnt fall under "explain clear seeds" lol :/ so maybe that goes in? OTOH maybe that goes in privately to her so she doesn't link it to the witchbomb instantly in front of Mami? Idk

While true, I should note that Homura didn't make the connection until we pointed it out. And Nadia's had just as much experience with not accidentally disclosing the lich/witchbombs herself, so I really doubt she's going to just freak out and accidentally Mami on us.No, but Nadia doesn't, and if Nadia knows the witchbomb, she'll likely react to the idea of grief seeds taking grief from clear seeds the same way that we did: "HOLY SHIT SOL GEM???"
Mami doesn't have the witchbomb to make the connection with.
Sadly, that's exactly the kind of thing that we'd be completely incapable of doing. Read these three articles for an illustration of the obstacles to that kind of thing:We can go to the beach, scoop up a bunch of sand, and process it into 450mm ultra high-purity silicon wafers, which IRL won't come onto the market for another 5 years. We could become billionaires practically overnight.
Well, it might take a little longer than that, since apparently when we stopped the Great East Japan Earthquake last week we saved a few of the big 300mm silicon wafer suppliers from having to shut down. Oops? Still, ultra high purity silicon is ridiculously valuable, expensive to produce, and will make us a boatload of cash if we can supply it in quantity, or even in small lab-scale amounts.
This seems kinda pointless. Walpurgisnacht doesn't really require more than what we already have access to. If infinite Tiro Finales and railgun shots and whatever other grief shenanigans aren't enough to grind it into a fine, grief-y paste, then the dissoluzione bianca will be. Feathers is the actual threat, and we have no idea what that'll require or what it'll even be capable of.[X] Ask if she knows any magical girls who might be willing to travel to Mitakihara to fight Walpurgisnacht.
Contact the government and break the masquerade in exchange for government funding for research into magical commodity production and possibly military assistance.Sadly, that's exactly the kind of thing that we'd be completely incapable of doing. Read these three articles for an illustration of the obstacles to that kind of thing:
Basically, those silicon wafers, while expensive and valuable, are bought and sold through channels that we're basically incapable of breaking into. Commodity markets and exchanges, futures, lots of negotiation and contracts. People aren't going to buy from us at all without being able to, for example, visit our factory and get a sales pitch. Similar problems exist with selling large volumes of fabricated matter. Diamonds would be an excellent option but are impossible, not because of DeBeers, but because diamonds these days have to be chemically and physically marked to establish that they didn't originate either synthetically or in conflict zones. Diamonds may also run into supply-curve issues; we can't assume that the market is large enough that we wouldn't dramatically increase the supply and screw everything up. Similar issues exist with schemes like fabricating and selling trans-uranics and other exotic pure elements.
Hrm. Ways that get around these.
- Contract research labs and offer to do exotic chemical syntheses. We have a few chemists in thread, so bullshitting shouldn't be at all hard.
- Advanced metalworking to contract. We lose some of the advantages of a CNC mill - well, maybe, I wouldn't be surprised if we can griefhax something off a flash drive - but we can trivially handle requirements like inert atmospheres and weird-ass shapes and fixtures that'd normally costs tens of thousands of dollars of labor-time. Again, research labs. Firn probably knows full well how expensive it is to get a piece of custom metal fabbed for a physics apparatus.
I've been feeling like that. It's also kind of redundant; we already told her about walpurgisnacht, and the recruiting thing will cover that pretty handily. Edited out.[X] Godwinson
