Huh. For a bit there, Redshirt was voting for Vebyast, Vebyast was voting for me, and I was voting for Redshirt. Would that crash the vote tally?

The tally treats the earliest instance of that vote as a string. Since I believe Vebyasts vote for you was the first, chronologically, it would show up as:

[><] Kaizuki
Vebyast
Redshirt Army
Kaizuki

With all votes for me and you folded into it.

I assumed everyone was reacting to it because it still applies to us, even if it wasn't directed at us.

Yeah, this. Regardless of its target replying to it is reasonable and useful.

Just because there's an exaggerated example lying around doesn't mean Sayaka wouldn't have fucked herself over with a bad Wish.

You're not wrong, you're just saying it the wrong way in the suggested vote.

Yeah, this. That's less of a typical revenge wish and more of an extended case study on what happens when a sociopath makes a wish.

What I see when I read revenge wish is "wishing for Oriko to come to harm, or specifically for the capacity to bring harm to Oriko." The kind of wish you are thinking about is closer to "I wish I could stop meguca from hurting normies!"

Yes but there are people rich that will punish or warn others in those nasty subtle means later on where they not expecting it.
If we didn't know her sure, but this is Hitomi. She's not a vengeful bitch, so far as we've seen. Pretty sure the most we're gonna get is reduced trust and a few comments and glares.

Would Sayaka have had enough consideration to make an open-ended "the power to bring justice" wish? My mental model of her isn't great, but given this level of anger I'd put even odds on her specifically making a wish targeting Oriko. edit: Even if she did try the open-ended one, wouldn't she get a muder-power anyway? Yui's predecessor from Puella Magi Imperatrix Mundi.
If we're being honest with her, punishing Oriko was a distinctly secondary consideration. Our primary goal was, like you had in your original vote, to ensure that Oriko would never be a threat again. Also, arson-murder-jaywalking.

Why?

What's so hard about saying something like, "We needed them cooperative and we didn't want you to get killed"?
That's the wrong half of the sentence I was referring to.

Telling Sayaka part of the reason we've been keeping this secret is because we want Sayaka to cooperate with Oriko? Won't fly.

Uh, I don't think logical argumentation about Oriko's net utility is gonna jive here, Sereg. And without that foundation, "I wanted to cooperate with them" is gonna set Sayaka off hard.
I agree that we need foundation, but that would apply to any excuse at all. I don't see the need for delaying that reasoning more than another excuse would need to be delayed. That said, I was particularly blunt there, but my previous draft works well for this. Or too put it another way, we were scared of the danger she had foreseen and needed to convince her to tell us about it.

EDIT:^We want them to cooperate with us, which is exactly what I said. Cooperating with each other just makes that easier and is less important, so we don't need to bring it up.

She's not exactly not a threat right now. More like she basically threatened to go back to her old ways if we 'stretch ourselves too thin'.

I really hope this all goes well enough we can, at the end of the day, bring up the possibility to Oriko leaving the house some times.

And, of course, Hitomi's eyes go wide as dinner plates as she rushes from the room, chanting her mantra of "Girls can't love girls! Girls can't love girls!"

This has already come up a couple of times, but since you asked about Hitomi earlier, I might as well point out... Hitomi was making a joke, during the 'girls can't love girls' scene. Hence the over-the-top hands-on-cheeks acting. It was sarcasm.

Anyone wanna to a test vote tally?
Where did my vote end up with?
I appear to own the bandwagon right now.

[x] Telepathy Mami: 'I'll handle this.'
[x] "I'm telling you now. I should have told you sooner, and I apologize for not doing so. Things kept coming up, but... I won't make excuses."
[x] "Your other question. I'm calm now. Sayaka, Homura's power is to stop time. That night, after we made sure you were safe, Mami, Homura, and I ran her power continuously for 16 hours. We were angry, we were upset, we were scared, and we were not calm. While you were in the ambulance, we were hunting. We searched her house and combed the city. Homura found them, and by the time we were done they were maimed, broken, and contained."
[x] When she demands to know why we didn't tell her sooner: Cut to voting.

[X] Telepathy Mami. She isn't going to hurt me. Please don't tie her up- it'll only make her more difficult to calm down.
[X] Hang there calmly. Place your hands over hers.
[X] In a calm and gentle tone, "I am telling you, Sayaka. I waited to do so because that idiot was trying to save your life from something she saw in the future. She's a precognitive, so knew we would be there to save your family. I waited because I wanted you to have some distance from it, because I didn't want you to charge off after them for revenge and either die or become a murderer. If she hadn't been trying to help you, stupidly misguided as she was, I would have killed her myself to spare you from that."

[X] "They are under house arrest and will be killed, no reservations, if they step out of line. After interrogation under threat of eternal doom, which was not a hyperbole. They are not 'free' and are already quite punished."
[X] "She is arrogant and foolish, sure, but she is still human and she is trying to do good, however fucked up the results sometimes are. What would you rather have me do, kill her instead of giving her another chance?"
[X] Remind her that from the very beginning, your Wish was intended to help everybody, not only good girls.
[X] Use Sendai as an example of how you try your best to make peace instead of going on rampages, however easier those are. And that you always do your best to let everyone be the best person they can be instead of just finishing off everyone you don't like, however easier is the latter. Also, as an example of how Oriko can be good, useful and save lives - Sendai is not in ruins, after all.
[X] "And I was intending to tell you back when you where in hospital. Your parents were there, and...then, well, there were a lot of things on my mind. Oriko and Kirika could have proven unstable and I would finish them off, dealing with the whole problem. Still, not telling you earlier is indeed a grave and stupid mistake. I do apologize for this."

[X] "Sayaka, I'm sorry. Whatever reasons I had, aren't good enough to justify how much I've hurt you. Whatever you decide to do to me, I deserve it. But please, leave Mami out of it, she doesn't deserve my mistakes to hurt her.
[X] If the opportunity present's itself, hugs, you can never go wrong with hugs.

[X] Emphasize that Oriko is conceited, and foolish, but she's not evil- she was trying to save lives, in her own misguided way- many people, including Sayaka, would be dead now if it weren't for their actions since their arrest.

[x] No I didn't, mostly because at the time there was little you could have done to help the situation, in addition to that there is likely not much worse you could do to her after what we already did to her, after all Homura took a machine gun when we hunted her down and ah.......
-[x]'she kinda did it to save your life so she probably made sure your parents would live?

Not sure how, since I didn't even have a vote up when RSA pointed the bandwagon at me, but...

I don't really like the "Mami I'll handle this" line. It's her house and her table and she's concerned for us. Telling her that we'll handle it, seems a bit eh...like we're cutting her out of the process. Maybe it's just me.

I trust that Mami will make the right decisions on her own and don't think it's really necessary.

It's meant less to cut her out of the convo and more to prevent her from smashing Sayaka into the wall so hard there'll be a blueberry-shaped crater in it. Which I think is pretty likely otherwise, tbh.
