Sabrina tries making a Familar.

Ugo claws his way back from death. His first act is to... take over the Familiar!

The Familiar evolves into a full fledged Sabrina, only instead of having many voices in her head, there's only Ugo!

UgoBrina proceeds to cackle socially and runs away before anybody can stop him/her.

Everybody looks for the errant Sabrina/Familiar/thing, but unbeknownst to them, they hath donned a most clever disguise! Since Ugo knows very well that Sabrina and Sayaka are identical except for a hair colour pallete swap, they chose to change not only their hair colour to yellow, but also the colour of their eyes... to green!

With Ugo missing, life goes on. Some rumours about a strange foreign girl going up to random people and trying to talk about their problems are heard, but never lead anywhere.

Then, one day, close to Walpurgisnacht, Oriko receives a visitor.

She foolishly opens the door to find Ugobrina!

Before Oriko can react, Ugobrina says:

"Let me tell you about Social."

"Hell no," answers Oriko with a look of horror on her face.

Immediately, Oriko decides to escape the Social and crushes her own Soul Gem with her teeth.

"No..." comes a choked whimper, as Kirika finds her Ojou dead.

"The Social can bring her back," promises Ugobrina.

But Kirika is beyond Social.

"I am beyond Social," she says, "I thought this stupid world deserved a chance, but I was wrong..."

A single black wing sprouts from Kirika's back, extends and folds over Oriko's corpse.

"Gasp!" exclaims Ugobrina, clutching their head. "You're Feathers! It was so obvious, how could I not see it?!"

Kirika simply chuckles darkly as blood starts dripping from her eyes.

"The feather calling card!" continues Ugobrina absentmindedly, "the convoluted circumstances, the... the edginess of it all! It could only be you!"

"Yes," confirms Kirika Feathers Mikuni née Kure. "This is the end."

A twitch of Kirika's wings and a single black feather flies at Ugobrina's throat point first!

Ugobrina grabs at their bleeding neck and crumples down to the ground.

But before death can overtake Ugobrina, they commit a last action:

Ugobrina telepathically broadcasts a message to any and all who will listen, consisting of one single word. A last message in this dire situation, a last effort of will to claw back at fate. This message, this one word resonates across the minds of Magical Girls everywhere:

'SOCIAL.'

I have another argument in favor of being proactive with science: if we had Empty Seeds by the time of Sendai ark, we could have defused Seed-obsessed guca with them. Maybe.

That maybe doesn't give the arguement much weight. :p

Anyways, what activities will we sacrifice for that? Pre-Sendai, what activity could have been discarded for Science?

Akiko wasn't all that sane, hence "maybe".
As for activities...Sabrina is friends with Homura, she can find time. At least for activities that Homura would deem useful, and Sabrina grief-bending is one or them.

Without using it (though why? Homu would be more encouraged than anything that she can contribute to making things better), less hanging out in hospital, maybe? It wasn't anything which did require Sabrina's presence.

I've long suspected that Akiko was aware of the witchbomb, maybe even saw that girl she was into witch out and the witch destroyed by the Ishinomaki group, and that's why she became obsessive about always having plenty of Grief Seeds. If so, then I would think that a Grief Seed that could last a thousand years would be of serious interest to her, although whether she could have understood that through the madness we'll probably never know.

It also sounds like at least part of the thing holding us up with the Tokyo Council is them arguing over who gets our services "first", which is partly because they don't realize the scope of our powers (we could probably do every girl in the city at once if they all stood in the same football field), but would also cease to be an issue if we could mass distribute a means of cleansing soul gems to all the groups simultaneously.

"Don't worry about who gets to be cleansed first. I can do that for all of your gems at the same time. Just set up a meeting point for all the groups and I'll be there."

Pretty much, yeah. I tried putting forth a vote to call Noa back about setting up face time with the Council so we could do exactly that, but it didn't garner any interest.

I would like to interrupt all discussion with a revelation about tea:

You can reheat it on the stove. Put it into an appropriate kettle like object. I did it by turning the heat to full blast and paying careful attention to the sound the water makes, but that requires training in The Art of Boiling Water for Tea. I think it's possible to just put the stove on low and letting it slowly come up to temperature. I'm trying that right now as I type this message and will report back with updates.

UPDATE: Only works up to a point. Once the water gets too warm the flavors start to break down. :C

I should have a thermometer because these things matter to me but I don't for reasons of I'm Dumb. Anyway it seems that if the tea reaches a temperature where steam can be seen steadily rising from the open lid, then it's actually too warm and you've broken down some of the key flavors. That being said it's possible I just had too little in one sip due to the temperature, but I usually can handle pretty hot liquids.

Just what we need to make the Orikobomb worse. Re-heating tea.

This time we'll make it happen.

*Sabrina slowly forces her way to the microwave, with Mami, Oriko, Kirika and Sayaka latched on to her trying to hold her back*

Jolly cooperation!

My thoughts upon reading this, paraphrasing Sgt. Reese.

You still don't get it, do you? She'll find it! That's what she does! That's all she does! You can't stop her! She'll wade through you, reach over to your microwave and reheat your fucking tea!

:p

Hey, do you guys think that we should make the privacy construct during the Orikobomb? While there's not, strictly speaking, anything in there that's secret from Kyubey, it's possible that something could come up when we're calming Sayaka down. Besides, the less Kyubey knows about what we're doing, the harder it'll be for him to screw with us.

Speaking of Kyubey, he apparently knew about Homura's timestop powers right away in this loop. We've been assuming that Oriko told him after foreseeing in in a vision, but I don't think we ever actually confirmed it. Could he have found out some other way?

If we're making a construct for that I'd personally prefer it to be something that physically prevents Coobs from being there at all and/or contacting anyone there mentally.

Not sure if it's worth the interruption in proceedings to have Sabs concentrate though.

Didn't seem to require any concentration to maintain the previous times we've made it. We could make it before we start the conversation or before Sayaka and Hitomi even get here.

Looked over the vote in abeyance and cleaned it up a bit.

[X] Help Mami with her homework.
-[X] Plug in your phone!
[X] When Sayaka and Hitomi arrive, telepathy O&K that we're about to talk to Sayaka. We'll tell them how it ends. Wish us luck.
-[X] Form privacy construct.
[X] There's two magical girls Sayaka and Hitomi should know about. Mikuni Oriko is, was a precognitive; she was the one who warned us about Sayaka getting Witch Kissed; and Oriko's girlfriend, Kure Kirika.
-[X] Remember when we said some Magical Girls are misguided? They're like that.
-[X] Oriko's a fatalistic girl who was firm on the 'ends justify the means' mindset, and used her visions to try and achieve good things... even if that meant hurting people.
-[X] We fought them, beat them, put them under house arrest, and have been working on convincing them they can do better, that they can do good and help people without going to the extreme lengths they did. We've made some progress, but, well, there's a reason why we haven't let them out.
-[X] The truth is, Oriko sent Kirika to push Hitomi down the stairs, and was the one who burned down Sayaka's home.
