Killing Walpurgisnacht early would be hilarious and we should totally do it, but there are some potential problems. Let me outline them:
  • Feathers: Supposedly, Feathers is only active in the world when we're not. (Personally, I think that that's just a ruse on Feathers' part, but I digress.) Now, what if it's not our presence in the world that blocks Feathers, but our presence nearby? (This is blatant paranoia and probably not worth considering, outside of a visit to Oriko.)
  • Mami: She might fall apart if we left, even if, from her perspective, we were gone for hardly any time at all.
  • Madoka: Homura isn't going to want to leave Madoka alone on (presumably) another continent. We might be able to overcome that worry with 24/7 timestop, except 24/7 timestop would probably make intercontinental travel very difficult oh wait no we can fly lol
  • Sayaka: Giving her an Empty Seed is enough, probably, especially if we're not going to be gone for much external time—she doesn't seem to be particularly self-destructive.
  • Information: Where is Walpurgisnacht? Once we're under timestop, gathering information will become a huge headache, so we'll want to deal with that beforehand.
  • Stardom: Killing Walpurgisnacht will, for better or for worse, draw an insane amount of attention to us.

Walpurgisnacht Checklist
  • Figure out where Walpurgisnacht even is right now: Because, as mentioned above, finding it while in timestop would be a headache. That travelling Magical Girl might know—and, if we promise to kill the thing, it seems possible that she'd give us the information for free.
  • Check in with Oriko: If us leaving causes Feathers to arrive early (or brings a more mundane disaster), we'll have to shelve this plan.
  • Decide what to do with Mami: Personally, I don't think we should bring her (because we might be spending a lot of time in timestop for travel and stuff, which she probably wouldn't enjoy), but leaving her behind causes its own issues.
  • Find the fastest way to travel: Grief airplane—possibly enhanced with special "gotta go fast" grief, since nobody will be around to detect it?

Couple quibbles-- were we to actually do this thing, we'd definitely take Mumi with, and we're eventually gonna kill Walpy regardless (plus we're already on track to be bloody famous soon enough) so the second bit's not all that worrying.

As I said, I don't think Mami would enjoy spending several hours (possibly longer, depending on where Walpurgisnacht is and how fast we can travel) in timestop. Might still be worth bringing her, though, especially if it looks like the trip won't take very long.

In this case, we'd be acquiring fame far ahead of schedule. Also, we'd be pulling off something really dramatic; in the "normal" timeline, rumours and news would gradually leak out.

Yes, Sayasplosion is imminent.

But if Seyiko explodes, does it mean Seyiku is throwable weapon?
Allies always work as thrown weapons. Even if only for bludgeoning damage. :D

I still think that wording is too rushed for explaining something so delicate.

[x] Help Mami with her homework until Sayaka and Hitomi arrive.
-[x] Make sure Sabrina's phone is charged.
[X] When they get here, check the state of Sayaka's soul gem. Suggest she cleanse it or let us cleanse it for her.
-[x] Form the privacy construct again.
[x] I told Sayaka once that a lot of magical girls are misguided. There's one misguided girl in particular named Oriko that you should both know about. Her power is precognition. She sees the future. And when she foresaw bad things happening in the future, she tried to prevent them. But in the process, she wound up hurting people. She was convinced that she was the only one who knew what was best for everyone, even if the only way she could think of to save someone's life also meant hurting them.
[x] One day she went too far. She decided that the best way to prevent a vision of someone dying was to do something that hurt a lot of people. I was furious. So the three of us tracked down Oriko and her girlfriend, Kirika. We kicked their asses and made Oriko explain herself. It doesn't excuse what she did, but... she was trying to help, in her own screwed up, suicidal way.
[x] They're under house arrest until further notice. They've even been helping us, to atone for what they did. Kirika was invaluable when we stopped the fighting in Ishinomaki and Sendai, and Oriko's precognition helped us to a lot of good. Sayaka, that night a witch tried to take you... we never would have known if she hadn't warned us. She saved your life that night.
[x] The reason that we wanted to tell you both about this is because you both were affected by her. She's responsible for the fall that broke Hitomi's arm.... and she's the one who set fire to Sayaka's apartment building.

Don't address just Sayaka. Hitomi will be there too.
Sayaka's the only one we've mentioned misguided magical girls to before (I think), so that particular sentence was directed at her, yes. Not the whole thing. But I'll edit it if you think it'll help.

We've learned how to make music with our Grief since the last time we did the extended timestop thing. Having some background noise (and a specific destination instead of aimless wandering) should help with Mami's discomfort.

As for the fame, we've been actively trying to spread word of our existence to as many other magical girls as possible, so we can provide them with cleansing.

1) Pretty sure Mami would enjoy spending inordinate amounts of time with us no matter what. Plus, she has some serious magical power if we keep her charged up constantly, which would definitely help attempting to oneshot Walmart from Time stop. (360 Finale?)
2) We can go supersonic, possibly faster as long as we don't pulverize any seagulls, with what appears to be moderate amounts of concentration. Grief Magic is such Bullshit.
3) We can still do homework in timestop.

Okay, I'm convinced: Barring unexpected problems, we should bring Mami with us. The next step is convincing Homura, then; we should probably start laying the groundwork for that today or tomorrow. It's possible (reasonably likely, even, IMO) that she has a rough schedule/chart of Walpurgisnacht's movements, too.

You're ascribing an ease to tracking Walpurgisnacht that I don't think reflects reality. It's quite possible that Walpurgis doesn't even have a presence in the real world until she's ready for showtime.

Rather than doing a search in timestop, it makes far more sense to discuss the issue with Mami and Homura and see if this idea has any practical merit first.

Rather than doing a search in timestop
I explicitly said that I don't want to search in timestop—I want to find out where she is, first.

My views on finding Walpurgisnacht, as expressed in my old-ass omake:

Walpurgisnacht doesn't exist until she does. It makes sense, really - if she was fully expressed constantly, Kyuubey would need a much more comprehensive cover. No, she sets up at a specific venue, like the theater troupes she so emulates, and only then unfurls her doors.

I think that it's probable that Walpurgisnacht only enters our dimension when it attacks or otherwise isn't present or detectable in any way that we can interact with prior to the 30th. But we have no actual confirmation one way or another, so I think it's worth at least asking about. If it were possible to intercept it ahead of time, it would save us a lot of trouble.

Yeah, this is my thinking too. I feel like it's most dramatically appropriate (and the Stage-Constructing Witch is all about drama) if she only emerges when she's ready. But we don't know that. Homura might. We should ask.

Even once (if) we do have a lead on Wallabynight, we don't want to go after it right away. There's reasons to believe our powers will tear right through her, but we don't exactly want to gamble on that - we need to make sure we've stacked the deck as much as possible by gathering good allies and preparing them.
