Updating my Vote

[x] Uh. Hmm. I suppose I'd be okay with that if you are, Mami? Though if that round goes as quickly as I expect it will, maybe we can shuffle the teams for the next go around?
-[x] After all, you could really do with the dodge training almost as much as Sayaka, and the best people to get dodge training from are obviously Mami and Homura, right?
--[x] Also, you kinda use use grief to move around by instinct with your wings. Do they think it good to use tiny wings for this practice, or applying static grief to the inside of your outfit as power armour?
--[x] We'll decide whether to switch teams around once we see how things play out. What kind of ruleset will we be using, anyway? Mami, Homura, thoughts? Defer to the veterans' expertise.

[x] Keep working on the Cannone di Picchio, with Homura's advice taken into account. Try out a scale model of a few loading mechanisms, both hand-held and from larger naval artillery. See which ones are easiest for you to handle.
-[x] Try integrating a loading mechanism into one of Mami's muskets, to see how your magics interact on a smaller scale. Note any issues or oddities and try to resolve them.
--[x] If all goes well, try it with Tiro Finale. Let Mami name the result.
----[x] If chibis on cannon, take a picture with your phone and set it as your background.

[x] When Sayaka arrives, greet her as if nothing unusual is going on. Refuse to acknowledge the existence of the chibis in the background.
-[X] Distract her by using your Chibi body to offer the cupcake you made, with a cwute apowogy.
--[x] Dismiss the various experiments, except the chibis, and set up the training.

[x] Try and make sure Sayaka doesn't repeat the same mistakes Mami identified yesterday: In particular, tunnel vision and not considering approaches before taking them. Don't judge Sayaka, though - you're not infallible either, and there's things for you to improve on as well.
-[x] Within the rules of the spar, take it as seriously as possible - you'll need to if you want to have the slightest chance of success against Mami and Homura, and this is a learning experience for you too.

[x] After the spar, unwind and be a bit silly. Show Sayaka that you discovered yesterday that puella magi can shift outfits when they want to - kinda like how she recreated her cape, but on a bigger scale.
-[x] Cosplay as Shinki from Touhou.
--[X] Recreate your Chibi in the same outfit.
--[x] Telepathy Homura. You're practicing your Touhou cosplay, because reasons. :V

Honestly, cosplaying at random just seems too silly. It doesn't feel funny and instead looks like a forced reference going 'look at how hip & with the times I am!'.

I usually find those in bad fanfic, not PMAS.

Why not show off our Maid uniform instead?

But PMAS is well-written and so our random cosplay will actually have a foil (everybody else going ohsabrina) as opposed to bad fanfiction where that doesnt happen.

"We try things. Sometimes they even work."

Lets try this thing. Worst case, it fails and Chibi-Sabs gets headshot.

[x] AramilOniasha

(Also, I've never cosplayed myself, to be honest. Perhaps I should start?

Though, all the girls I like are girls. Eeeh, kinda off for casual outfit for a guy.)

Firn's a skilled writer, yes, and skilled writers can turn shit into gold any day of the week, but that doesn't change the fact that we chose to use shit in the first place instead of something better.

Everyone can still go Oh Sabrina without us forcing a reference and then going 'Hey Homu, hey, look at how random I'm being!'.

We have the Maid outfit for that.

I wanna give Mami the idea to launch chibis from cannons. It's something Sabrina can't emulate at all, absent a breakthrough in range extension, and she already mentioned having used them to scout.

I agree with Hannz. I'd much rather do the maid then the cosplay, not the least of which because not everybody reading this quest knows about jackshit about Touhou.

It's more of an excuse to have her dress up in costume for Halloween than a just a joke. Also it would be easier to convince everyone else to dress up if Sabrina is already cosplaying. My goal now is to get everyone into a costume at some point during the picnic.

The extent of my Touhou knowledge is Flandre is a vampire and she has a sister whose name I can never remember, I just like the pictures.

A Maid Uniform counts as a Costume, and is a lot more familiar to boot.

We can do all the above without having to force a reference.

Honest question. Why do we need to dismiss the chibi again, if it isn't causing us any strain of our focus or even noticeably detracting from it (wait, is it? I can't tell)? Would it be distracting (or even disrespecting) to the others during the spar?

Obviously, we would need to dismiss it once we leave (carrying a miniature of yourself around in public is not exactly being discrete with magic). We could hide and stow it, but by that point, it wouldn't be any better than if we dismissed it back into raw grief anyways, so why bother?

releasing Mami so you can laugh.

arms still draped around Mami from behind.

Firn-sama! Discontinuity police are knocking on door!

Huh, curious.

And now I'm imagining an enormous tide of lurkers, being draw towards the light. Slighly closer are the faceless, those lurkers that learned how to speak. And then there are the ones who transitioned into one stable personality and crafted a face for themselves.

Or maybe I need to let my mind go out a little less.

Wait. Wait a goddamn second. @Kaizuki When did you get an avatar?!

Just last night! I'm testing it as a device for better catgirling, nyah~! But I'm not sure I like the color scheme, nyah... See @Avalanche-senpai's profile if you're confused by what I'm up to!

That said, googling "catgirl" apparently presents a lot of lewds and only a few cutes... I had to do a lot of sifting, nyah! So... I dunno. I picked this out of a few hundred...? I considered using Blake, but that would be A) RWBY-heresy, B) not enough cute...

And I may have been off my meds the whole time... And still am... I need to be able to take naps, nyah~! Gotta get better soon so I can do mah wurk, nyah~!

Having the mini-us in battle-training counts as cheating due to extra eyes and its distracting properties (the witch ones, not the cute ones).

It also serves no purpose.

The person Sabrina is thinking about visiting dresses and acts like a Touhou character.

Those voting to cosplay as a Touhou character are doing so thinking that playing along with that person will give them a bonus to diplomacy, not just for making a reference.

Also just because something is done in terrible fanfiction, doesn't make the act itself contagious.

Terrible fanfics are not terrible because they contain certain elements, as I've seen many terrible fanfics that don't have the elements people love to blame and instead have the opposite.

We can do that when we're actually about to visit that person.

At the very least, let's stop poking Homura to show off how Random Sabrina is. It gets old real fast.

Intercity timestop anyone

Mami can u maek invisible ribbuns

Ya. She can.

As the one responsible for this whole thing, I will admit that at least part of my reasoning for including it in the vote now is so that we can wear a costume IC during OOC Halloween. :V

It strikes me that references are potentially toxic to a hive-mind like Sabrina. Votes seem to make agglomerations; they're biased in favor of adding something, if it adds perceived value, once it's been suggested. If the deliberating parties agree pretty well on what is valuable, the deliberations produce lengthy but purposeful courses of action as votes. But there are lots of source media for references that someone likes well enough to suggest, and there are lots of sources that are entertaining enough and sufficiently widely known for the suggestions to gain traction.

So if we make a habit of including references, it could potentially cost Sabrina a lot of focus, which is a precious resource for her. I recommend that we prefer methods that accomplish the same end without the reference. Maid-brina or no dressup.
