A perfect approximation is indistinguishable from the real thing, by definition. Her powers work by magic, infering if they directly interact with the soul is a guess, not a fact.

Without knowing how magic works, we cannot predict what magic requires to work. Simulating a magnetic north pole requires simulating a magnetic south pole, even if the latter was not spotted.

We know that magic is a manifestation of the soul; that's not a guess, that's a fact. We know that performing magic causes observable changes in the inner chemistry of someone's soul. Ergo, to copy a power requires looking at that aspect of the soul, because not all parts of magic are directly observable.

Bets Sayaka would get the same error from trying to copy a witch?

I've considered this and want to test it, but by Suzune Magica we know that a Magical Girl's magic is identical to her Witch magic, and that a power copier can handle both more or less the same.

The issue is likely with Sabrina.

You can't have an emulator run a program without reading its code.
You can if the emulator is magic.
So should I remove that line? I kinda doubt Masami will blow up at Mami in this context, but if you feel the risk is too great, I'm willing to drop it.
I don't doubt Masami would blow up. Even at what's probably the happiest she's been in her entire life she could still muster the vitriol to tell us to fuck off when we mentioned Mami. She is very much opposed to seeing Mami.

[X] "Hey, don't be mean! Madoka's not nothing. She has the awesome power of kindness, which no magic can even comprehend!"
-[X] Give Madoka a side-long hug, then get a bit more serious.

[X] "No, seriously though, that's really weird."
-[X] Kyubey said there was something strange about my soul when I contracted... maybe that's connected to this? Or maybe since I wished for my power directly, that changes things? Anyway, I don't think we're going to figure it out without a bigger sample size to work with.

[X] Talk to Mami and Sayaka about contacting some of the magical girls you've met and seeing if she can practice with them - plus, of course, we could ask Homura if she could volunteer next time.
--[X] Maybe Sayaka can come along with us to Sendai on Sunday?

[X] Defer to Mami. If she wants to test/practice something else, go for it. If she wants to hunt a witch, that's fine too, but Madoka and Hitomi shouldn't stick around for that.

I usually only read the story-only thread, but I had to pop over here and add this obligatory phrase:

SABRINA'S A WITCH!

1661 HMM, there don't appear to be too many following pages...

Why aren't there more "SABRINA IS A WITCH" JOKES?!? You lot should be ashamed proud of yourselves! How did you resist the temptation? HOW?

Sabrina is both a Witch and not a Witch unless observed- wait no, that's Ono.

...

... God, am I glad we left her in Masami's hands.

We're literally named Sabrina as part of an extended "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" reference, dude. Sabrina being a witch isn't even entirely a joke at this point, since the Walpurgisorigin theory is actually pretty accepted.

I already knew the "Sabrina is a Witch" thing was a running gag (missed the reference that is her name though). I was more questioning why the joke wasn't being more heavily abused in the aftermath of the update. Forgot how much thinking goes into your votes, I guess...

Wait, did you just tell me that Sabrina is officially half-convinced she's Walpurgisnacht? Actually don't tell me, I'm trying to run away before the madness gets me! Flee for the hills!

I think you mean "She's my witch!"

But if we keep going this direction we're going to end up with yandere Mami...

Y'all see the girl hangin' off the skyscraper with the really big gun? I'm not saying you weren't easy to find, but it was kind of out of our way and she didn't wanna come in the first place. girls's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's her will y'all should worry about thwarting.

It is? I mean, it's hilarious, but...we should have some NPC voices in here, if that's the case.

Who says there aren't any? In fact, what's to say that you're not an NPC, hm?
Indeed...what a curious thought. I wonder...

That said, few of us seem to be young girls driven into the depths of despair and madness. Not enough to match the number of component Witches shown in PMMM to be part of Walpurgusnacht.
