If Sabrina gets clara dolls, do they still call her good for nothing? Or is that reserved for Homu, and if so, what insult do you think they'd call Sabrina?

"Aaaaaaand, ta-da! My very own Familiar!"

[SILENCE]

"Um..." *Shoves familiar forward* "Say hi!"

*Bows* "The Awkward Fool bids me to greet you all."

"Come again?"

"An Airhead such as her wasn't capable of planning this event ahead of time, and thus The Overconfident Dolt blindly expects I would make things work without effort." *Shakes head* "Tsk, tsk..."

"Excuse me, I think this one's defective..."

"No, no, this is great."

"Really-"

"Hey, what's your relationship with Sabrina?"

"I'm ashamed to have come to life from the hand of such a Pathetic Moron of a girl. In fact, I gather she would presume to consider herself a Mother to my magnificient self, as if that Treacherous Dunce was capable of actually raising a daughter, or even seeing any sort of long term project to fruition."

"... That's..."

"Fucked up?"

"Wait, wait, I'm sure with some adjustments-"

"Oh, don't worry; most of the time Liar Liar simply thinks of me as an untrustworthy minion, an useless doll to keep or throw away at her convenience."

"Hold on, you're... alive? Like 'alive' alive?"

"Of course, the Conniving Bastard has given me that much, at least."

"You... shouldn't talk like that."

"OK, look everyone, sorry about this." *Grabs Familiar* "Just give me five minutes and I'll have this sorted out."

"Wait, what're you gonna do to her?"

"Just fix her up a bit-"

"The Manipulative Traitor is getting rid of me, gonna change me for a better model. Goodbye, friends of Promise Breaker, meeting you was the nicest thing that happened in my short life. Or the only thing, really."

"Sabrina! You can't do that!"

"I'm- I just..."

"Yeah! If she's alive, you've no right to change her like a toy!"

"But it's not- Agh!"

*Bites Sabrina's hand and runs to Madoka* "You'll protect me from Violent Crazy-Head?"

*Hugs the Familiar* "Uh..."

"Of course we will! Hear that Sabrina? You can't just wipe her away! You've got to take responsibility!

"... God damnit."

"You shouldn't blaspheme in Her presence, Irreverent Barbarian."

"... Who's presence?"

"Eh... Look, how about I just do something about her language?"

"No."

"Grrr..."

*Sticks tongue at Sabrina*

Uhh, can we? Has that been demonstrated in canon? Because if we don't need to use grief, I'm all for it, but I can't recall an alteration of outfit on that scale.
The only ones I can recall are Madoka, Homura, and Kazumi, but those doesn't really count because they came about from them transforming into a different kind of being: Madoka into a divinity/cosmic concept, Homura into the Devil, and Kazumi from a witch/clone construct into a Puella Magi.

This is why when you create artificial beings, you plan their personality out in advance. :V

Also guys, enough with the RP posts, seriously. You know who you are.

You know, I've thought of something that might be interesting to look at. We all know that if Grief is infused into a magical girl, they transform into a witch, but what happens if we infuse grief into a plain human? Would they transform into a witch, a familiar, the grief having no effect, something completely new? That would be something I would like to look into. Also, do you think it is possible that we actually know more about Grief and how it works than the Incubator?

Isn't that basically what Evil Nuts do?

You would get this:

Evil Nuts (which are kind of analogous to a hypodermic needle full of concentrated Grief) suggest that it would turn them into a familiar-like entity. I don't remember if the transformation is reversible, either; pretty sure the victims were killed. There is a problem with this kind of experiment being hilariously immoral, too; we're not completely batshit like Airi is.

Neither we nor Kyuubey really understand Grief much at all on a fundamental level; Coobs cannot into magic, and we only have intuitive knowledge as to how to bend it to our will.

ED: Topically, if it ever became necessary, we could literally just whip up a hypodermic needle full of concentrated Grief. :V

Ok, we start with animals then work our way up to humans. Honestly, I'm thinking that it could be used to empower the regular people that we interact with, making it less likely for them to feel the need to make contracts with the White Rabbit. The benifit of making it so that non-magical girls are capable of dealing with the witches has the potential of outweighing the possible cost of a few lives lost.

I see we've almost gone two years back in time with the cyclical conversations.

I was thinking, absolute control would imply the ability to convert it into other kinds of energy, right? So, why don't we try filling a normal person up with grief, convert it into magic energy, and see if we can create Grief Exalted?

To quote Ugo:

3/10, Kazumi Magica beat you to it, would not fund R&D for. :p

You know, I've been thinking about this idea for a while, though I will admit the risk is similar to someone giving tapdancing lessons in the middle of a minefield. The idea is the possibility of our powers allowing us to be able to retain control of our body if/when we transform from a magical girl to a witch. I would prefer we don't try it until we figure out how to transform a witch back to a magical girl, and even then I would prefer it to be a weapon of last resort. Seeing as oftentimes a magical girl's power changes in the transition from a MG to a Witch, something else I'm curious about is how our powers would mutate if such a transformation occurs.

[q] Witch out for superpowers.

The biggest problem with this notion is that a witchout only occurs when you're going literally insane with grief, and that's why even the strongest Magical Girls can't retaliate when it happens: Not only does it get you when you're most vulnerable, but the destruction of the Soul Gem interrupts your connection with your physical body.

We could, hypothetically, separate Girl and Witch upon impact, and try to force her soul back into her body while it's trapped in the forming Barrier (without allowing the Witch to eat it, so that we can then reconcile the two halves of the whole ala Rebellion), but this isn't really something we can do to ourselves without some kind of proxy, since witching out inherently incapacitates us (before promptly killing us)
