Besides, I don't want to experiment with grief cubes and potentially wraiths without either Mami or Homura around to help out if things start going south.

If you think it would be safe, we can try making grief cubes sans wraiths on the way over, but I doubt it would be successful without a "template" to analyze first.

It's a pity we don't have anybody on hand to snap us out of trance if we needed it.
Well, that's one of the reasons I want to make a grief object that lets us maintain our awareness while making grief objects. Or at the very least, one that snaps us out of a trance should it become necessary.
All the mechanisms of operation for the proposed vehicle were demonstrated in the quoted warehouse-kun section. Not only did Sabrina fail to trance out at any point during that session, the Grief manipulation was described as easy and nearly instantaneous.

My impression is that Sabrina requires larger effort and time for item creation when she tries to do heavy-lifting/sophisticated magical effects. The vehicle has a purely mundane action, and has no contact with any of the properties that have so much as required noticeable item creation time, much less those properties that ever induced a trance (which as far as I know was just the barrier).

I assign 300:1 odds against a trance, and 50:1 odds against requiring more than 30 seconds for item creation, to be perfectly clear about my confidence on this.

To be fair, we wouldn't notice if she did.
Unusual claims require some amount of evidence. Sabrina's perception of time normally works well enough to thoroughly rule out trances--you really would notice, and should continue to assume that you would as long as there isn't something weird going on. Ordinary Grief-bending has racked up a reasonable track record of not being the right kind of weird.
But as long as we feel we have enough time as it is, I doubt we will be trying this. :(
Short-sighted. This will almost certainly result in you having not only more available time, but also more flexibility due to vastly increased mobility. The likelihood that it will fail in a way that costs you more than a minute is smaller than is worth considering. The likelihood that it will fail at all is small, though not negligible.

If you reject projects with risk-reward distribution this favorable... my elder grandmother was more adventurous than that--and then she died. I get it if you disagree with my assessment of the likely outcome, but please tell me that's where the actual disagreement lies--though I think I've substantiated my claims well enough.

A hora from the past?

(It's been long enough I don't remember if these have come up or not, and I haven't found them through searching)

You peek at Rin, who's quietly rocking her cup of tea back and forth, looking down and staying quiet. Mami, at your side, is regarding the entire table with her usual, placidly calm demeanour, but the moment she feels the weight of your gaze on her, she turns to smile at you. You smile back, and she returns to her quiet contemplation of the people around the table.

Kirika just looks bored, sketching drawings in the crumbs of her cake, long since devoured. Messily. There are still crumbs stuck on the side of her mouth.

You look back at Chouko, leaning forward on the table. "Um... Miss Tsubaki, " you say, garnering her attention. "Following on that... please don't call for help yet?"

The girl, the leader of her little group, frowns. "You- we-"

"No, look, I'm not asking that you give up or anything," you say hastily, waving your hands in what you hope is a placating manner. "Just... let me take a shot at ending this whole conflict first and yes, that includes Akiko's... tax. And if you call in more favours... Akiko has just as many, more, even. She'll match you girl for girl."

"I... hm," BROKEN URL TAG "Yes. Yes, I did." BROKEN URL TAG END she frowns, and looks away.

You chance a look at Rin again - she's looking away, unable to meet anyone's eyes, her coffee cream cake still untouched. "Look," you say, shifting your attention back to Chouko. "I want this to end peacefully. I just need people to talk, not fight," you say. "That's all I ask."

Chouko nods slowly.

You look around you as the five of you walk along. This city still makes no sense. Mitakihara Middle School is fronted by an enormous park. Yes, you've seen it, and had to skirt around it a few times when you were roofhopping to the school, but proceeding through it on foot is an entirely different experience. Lush, manicured greenery surrounds you, thick vegetation reducing the crush of traffic and people to a distant roar. A small ornamental stream runs along the side of the path.

A thought strikes you, and you give the trees a narrow-eyed glance. No, they're not cherry THERE'S A LINK HERE IN THIS SPACE trees, nor are they blooming, and nor do your masses of Grief threading through the vegetation evince any reaction.

"What is it, Sabrina?" Mami asks.

"Oh, nothing, just thought I saw something," you say, giving the trees another glare before smiling at Mami, trying to pass it off.

But we haven't noticed when we lost time, most times it happened, because Sabrina didn't. Her powers (Grief) tend to self absorption, so it makes sense, too.

I'd like to try your vehicle idea; just for safety's sake, I'd like to take an extra 10 seconds to get going in a normal Grief vehicle, so we can attempt your idea and travel at the same time, in case it fails, so we don't lose travel time either way.

But convincing most of the voters is so not happening right now.

... You know it sounds way easier to just try making a familiar, right?

It might be. Even if it is, easier and safer are not the same thing.

"lost time" happened once, afaik, during Barrier event. Long item creation times, more often. What, if anything, am I missing?

Firn has confirmed that we have lost time for every single grief construct we've ever made. The Barrier was just the first time we noticed.

The Grief Shower took 30 minutes, same as the Barrier.

It might be. Even if it is, easier and safer are not the same thing.
We might have to try familiars as a way to exceed our range, so Oriko can have her ring.

Since Barriers are a no go at the moment until we find the cause of Feathers (if I remember correctly), I think Familiars are the way to go...

The grief shower was suppose to take longer. The writing however only implied that it took a few minutes.

I figured most of that time was spent actually taking that shower.

How would we explain wraiths to Mami and/or Homura?

IIRC the image is from AkuHomu-world, but what does the text in the first hora mean? Who's saying it and what's the question?

Wraiths? These monsters appeared when I left Grief out of my range!

The first hora, I think was telling us Akiko had called in reinforcements, as we were saying.

Well, yes, but we didn't notice at the time.
Point being that we 'lose time' when Sabrina loses herself in her powers and doesn't notice time passing.
