On an unrelated note, I think we should make it a simple mission to try and find Feathers.

Since Oriko says it avoids us, I reckon Feathers believes there's a disadvantage for it if we meet face to face, so I figure our first step in doing anything about Feathers is finding it.

And we need to find it way before April 26, so we have time to act on whatever information we gain.

I'm thinking something simple: Next time Oriko's aware, ask her for the 'closest' time and place where her visions are blocked by feathers, and go there (and then).

Attack all birds we see that will show feathers

any one know who the europe girl could be? or any plans to use her for dewitching.

As for sayaka maybe we can have her train with ono?

It seems everyday we have less time to do things.

Can we call Kyouko and Masami & Hiroko and see if they can come over to us, instead of us going over to meet them?

I reckon Ono will dislike Sayaka by association.

Euroguca... is pretty much the first character we don't know anything about, aside from what little Oriko's told us.

If this were true, it woukld have already happened before the Incubators discovered our planet. Wraiths are here because Madokami put them here. So that:

A: Meguca have something to fight

B: Incubators have a similar way to recruit meguca and a way of collecting energy

C: Because she decided that it was better for humanity overall than having neither meguca nor something for them to fight (personally, I believe that tehy're made of negative emotions humans would have felt anyway and that having them form and be killed is better than having the negative emotion fester without release)

Er, no. Lack of emotions doesn't seem to be a hereditary trait, given that it's a magical effect and lamarckian evolution is bullshit.

So, in theory, the wraiths consume all emotions, the wraiths die out. The next generation of humans is born with normal capacity of emotions. They start spawning wraiths. Rinse and repeat, humanity making no progress until Kyubey intervenes.

It's perfectly consistent with Kyubey's speculation that we couldn't advance without his help, which is otherwise nonsensical bullshit. However, there has to be some legitimate reason for him to THINK that considering his position as an expository device.

There's also no real indication that Madokami invented Wraiths, and a lot of reason to think otherwise, since Witches are already described as feeding off the same negative emotional energy in the environment that otherwise forms into Wraiths in the world where Witches don't exist.

In which case, there would be no one hear when they came.

This isn't what I fucking said, Sereg. Wraiths are non-lethal to humans, canonically. They don't kill people, they make them stop caring about shit and basically turn them into Strawman Vulcans or Kingdom Hearts-style Nobodies.

Anyway, re:Ono.

She needs to get her shit together. Get it all together and put it in a backpack, all her shit, so it's together. ...and if she's gotta take it somewhere, she has to take it somewhere ya know? She could take it to the shit store and sell it, or put it in a shit museum. I don't care what she does, she's just gotta get it together... Get her shit together.

Well...

Ono is convinced we're bad stuff, so... maybe the Puella Magi Cliche Antagonist approach would've been better with her? :p

"You have defeated me this time, Dastardly Ono! But I'll have my revenge!" *Flies away* "Oh no! I accidentally dropped my prototype unlimited Grief Seed and am in no state to fight to get it back! Confound it!"

I actually had the thought of asking them over to Oriko's to talk things out over assorted snacks and tea, but I recall it getting shouted down at the time. I wouldn't mind revisiting the idea, though. It's not like we're bringing Madoka over, and we could easily swing around to a store or a bakery and grab a pile of snacks on the way back.

Also, if the vote goes into lunch, maybe make a list of possible topics to toss into the vote, should potential immigration not chew up enough time on it's own?

It also occurs to me that Sabrina being a nigh-universal polyglot is really going to come in handy soon.

Not at Oriko's. We don't bring anybody other than Homura and Mami over to Oriko's, basically. Partly because Homura would rather Oriko not get in contact with other megucas, partly to try and keep Oriko's powers as unknown as possible.

I was thinking asking Kyouko to hop over to Mitakihara and meet her and Masami & Hiroko at some cafe or something.

Chat, cleanse, ask M&H if they can help take the newbie on a couple Witch hunts. Maybe distribute Empty Seeds, since Oriko said it should be fine?

So I just realized a good analogy. Everybody who's argueing about what the end game is? You guys are like the little voice in Sabrina's head that's constantly worrying about the future and things she can't control. If that's the case she's probably feeling very anxious right now. I'd say, for now give, the conversation a rest. We don't know enough about grief, magic, souls, the incubators and how they work right now to plan out how to break the system. For now it's okay to just run around being the spanner that works. As we go we'll pick up tools, allies, and most importantly knowledge on how the system works. Once we understand what we're dealing with then we can break the system.

Right. I realise that I'm a natural worrier who tends to dread the future. I just want to try to get said tools and knowledge (and yes, allies too).

Er, no. Lack of emotions doesn't seem to be a hereditary trait, given that it's a magical effect and lamarckian evolution is bullshit.

Since the discovery of epigenetics, we geneticists have realised hat while Lamarkian evolution is mostly bullshit, it's not quite as bullshit as we used to believe. But that's irrelevant as it isn't what I was suggesting.

So, in theory, the wraiths consume all emotions, the wraiths die out. The next generation of humans is born with normal capacity of emotions. They start spawning wraiths. Rinse and repeat, humanity making no progress until Kyubey intervenes.

Yeah. My issue is that I don't believe humans would be capable of being born in such conditions. At all. So, we'd become extinct in one generation.

It's perfectly consistent with Kyubey's speculation that we couldn't advance without his help, which is otherwise nonsensical bullshit. However, there has to be some legitimate reason for him to THINK that considering his position as an expository device.

My assumption was that human intelligence and inventiveness were themselves products of wishes.

There's also no real indication that Madokami invented Wraiths, and a lot of reason to think otherwise,

I believe that Madokami invented wraiths because without them, or an equivalent, her wish is nonsensical and self-defeating. It ade perfect sense to me at the time when I first saw the final.

since Witches are already described as feeding off the same negative emotional energy in the environment that otherwise forms into Wraiths in the world where Witches don't exist.

Er, they're described as feeding off humans directly, from what I understood. Can I get a citation to check context?

This I did not know. Thank you. (Makes even more sense as an invention of Madokami's to me now) But even if the don't kill them, I do not see people affected in such a way as ever having sex.

Bah, you're no fun. Well, maybe another time, once Homura's softened up a bit more and operational security isn't so pressing.

But yeah, that looks like it'd be fine.

We have no reason to indulge Homura's paranoia, and Oriko's perfectly capable of concealing her abilities.
If we can conduct business at Oriko's, it also means that we can reinstate the stopgap pain management solution and get her back on her feet before school's out, find out more about the gem-meguca, and have Mami meet us there ASAP. So, y'know, the whole 'we'll be back soon' thing won't have been a complete lie.

(We don't need to meet Sayaka immediately after school if she learns healing now; she can usefully occupy herself healing kyowhatever).

God, participating in this quest is exhausting. There are so many problems and every time we solve one it feels like two more pop up. Not to mention the fact that every time we meet a new magical girl they try to kill us. Is it to much to ask to meet one friendly magical girl who wants to help just as much as we do. JUST ONE! Seriously can we get a breather episode? Does Mitakihara have a beach?

Kay, I'm done. Sorry for ranting. I just needed to get that off my chest.

We don't even know if Sayaka's power is healing this time around. She could have made a completely different wish.

Edit: Or did you mean the extremely slow healing every magicla girl can do?

Yup. It's a useful skill, and gets faster, but only with practice; after that, she'll probably be nearly as quick as us.
With a bit of luck, it'll also go some way to resolving her drama.

It works fine for the Incubators.

Possible, but that's speculation and we now have an implication that we needed help having the emotional motivation to hope for something better than our current lot in existence.

I believe that Madokami invented wraiths because without them, or an equivalent, her wish is nonsensical and self-defeating. It ade perfect sense to me at the time when I first saw the final.

She also specified no such thing in her wish, and Kyubey doesn't seem particularly perplexed by the existence of Wraiths like he does the vanishment of corrupted Soul Gems.

Mami's speeches about how they feed on misery and despair, and the pain of sick people. Charlotte's quickening and hatching despite no hints of having been used by a Meguca (The idea of Grief Seeds filling up on their own is Firn's fanon, mind you).

The fact that Witches Witch Kiss people into being self-destructively depressed at all.

Animal instincts. Hormones. Beastial lust isn't necessarily connected to magical, spiritually endowed Rabu from the kokoro.

I think ono needs nanoha style befriending

with maximum FRIENDSHIP

at sufficient velocity

so are we going too start training blueberry today? and a round of cleansing like always

Can we hire Kyouko to train her? Or is this more like INDOC for Meguca?
In her shoes, would you rather be trained by the friends who have always had your back and saved your life, who you contracted to join, help, and be like... or someone totally new who you've never met before?

... OK maybe later after we have a routine and good foundation.... since Kyouko is likely better at melee then us.

Maybe it balances out our grief control?
