[X] Comforting smile "I guess we're all in the same boat, then."
[X] Sigh "You know what I think? I think somebody's messing with us. Something bigger than Walpurgisnacht, even. But it doesn't matter, because we're gonna beat them, just like we're gonna beat Walpurgisnacht, and anybody who threatens our friends. Together."
[X] Keep hugging Mami. Offer your other arm to Homura. We could use a group hug.
-[X] If things go right, ask Homura whether she'd like to come over for dinner.

Sabrina has been thinking of Homura as one of her mom's recently because of all the theorizing. It's already in there. I can easily cut it if it worries you that much though.

I'm pretty sure calling Homura's just a joke. Sabrina's not gonna hug her and whisper 'I love you mom'.

Anyways, with all the talk about Homura feeling trapped, I'm thinking we should just end the convo here with no physical contact. Gonna have ta reread the updare first though before I change my vote.

If you actually put it in the vote, it's going to be taken seriously. I think Sabrina even once almost slipped and called her that when we were just joking about it in the thread.

I'm beginning to rue the day that stupid joke was created.:rage:

Anyway, Sabrina has been acting a little too uncertain. If there was ever a time to project confidence and certainty, this would be it. And a hug might be too much. Maybe a "hand on shoulder" type thing?

Too tired to make a vote.

Not sure Homura needs the reminder of 'bigger than walpurgis' right now.

Also uncertain about the group hug. But the rest of it's good.

It's in there because we all made it so.

The idea is to leave it inside our head, since is an injoke. Internet humor tier injoke. This will make Homura feel more awkward than before, and Mami by consequence.

PS: I mean, if you guys still wish to do so, go and do it. Not gonna disuade you all of it or anything but I hope you guys have a plan regarding some sort of damage control after it.

S: Well you see it's because we suspect (I think you suggested to me actually) that I was created by a wish by Madoka, and the whole reason she has so much karmic potential in the first place is because you keep looping so that's what your role is in the whole thing, and... Homura? You okay? *Oh shit*

Homura's reaction here is not surprising. Previously, Homura indicated that she considered Oriko's to be lying about "Feathers". Homura has never been able to defeat Walpurgisnacht before and now we have physical evidence of a threat that is worse. And this is the first time that she has seriously considered that "Feathers" is actually a significant threat so it's not surprising that she doesn't know what to do. After 100 loops, Homura isn't used to that kind of uncertainty. Homura needs reassurance that we can beat this threat by working together. Homura needs a hug. But the primary problem is that Homura doesn't know what to do, so what she needs the most (after the verbal and physical reassurances) is a plan of action. We need to figure out what we can do to move forward to protect our friends against "Feathers" before we make plans for dinner or whatever:

[X] But just because we currently don't know much about "Feathers" doesn't mean that we can't act.
-[X] We can organize regular checkups with our friends so that we would notice a Witch Kiss if it happens again in the future.
-[X] We can be more active about scanning for witches so that we kill them before they have a chance to be a danger.
-[X] We can network with other magical girls around so that everybody is prepared when Walpurgisnacht and "Feathers" act.
-[X] We can analyze the Feather with our grief tools.
-[X] Ask Mami and Homura to brainstorm for ideas.

[X] If things go right, ask Homura whether she'd like to come over for dinner.

I know that a lot of people have a knee-jerk reaction against using our grief tools (dismissing them as SCIENCE!), but they are currently the only source of information about the Feather that I can think of apart from Oriko (and Homura probably isn't ready to face her yet).

If you can think of any other ways we can find more information about "Feathers" or ways that we can act to protect our friends from its influence, then I'm want to hear them. I want a brainstorming session about all of the ways that we can act so that Homura can be reassured that we actually do have a way to move forward.

That was actually "PD". Post-data.

Damn typo. Still funny.

[] Be confident and reassuring. Look Homura in the eye and give comforting smile.
[] "And that's all right. This whole situation is unprecedented and kind of screwed up. It's fine to be a little scared and uncertain in the face of all this. But there's one thing that we can be certain of. We'll beat it and get through this, together. Just like we've gotten through everything else so far. We'll get through it all whether it's this Feathers thing, enemy magical girls, Walpurgisnacht, or anything else that threatens our friends. No matter what happens, we'll protect the people we care about. Right?"

Meh, something of a start I guess.

Actually, the vote brings up the possibility of us being set up but it's not introducing anything to back up the claim.

We could just take that out. In addition, Sabrina is kind of necessary in some ways, so I guess it wouldn't be too surprising if she were getting framed. There's Mami, the current Sendai situation, Oriko and Kirika, Walpurgisnacht, etc.

All of the stuff you added ties us up with constant busywork and keeps us from doing important things.

Also, after the barrier incident, do you really want to say "let me try my powers on the mysterious feather, it'll be fine."? Because Mami and Homu would have every reason to say no.

I just... can't understand why anyone thinks the Feathers thing makes any sense. It's just not rational. Unbeknownst to us, our newly-discovered Barriers provide Feathers unheard-of influence on the world outside. So she... immediately uses that world-shaking power to prank one of our less-important friends, no lasting harm done, and leaves a feather behind just to make sure we know it's her. And then, predictably, we never use our Barriers again, the magic she supposedly needs us to keep using in order for her to interact with the real world.

I don't actually think that's what she did. I think that she's created a bunch more problems or us that we don't even know about yet and we are lucky that Sayaka isn't dead and that we got a warning.

Keep in mind that his usual targets are teenage girls who trust him far too much. We are a rather harder target... I'd like to say because we're calmly rational about these things, but more likely because about half of us would violently object to Kyubey asserting that the sky was blue. :D

He's played Homura who hates him. We suck at social. The violently objecting to the sky is blue is a problem. "You shouldn't shoot yourself in the soul gem. It's a bad idea."

"Oh yeah! Screw you!" *Blam*

We're not emotionally unstable,

I am. And I don't think I'm the only one judging from how debates here can go.

we have a huge store of canon knowledge, he can't outright lie, and if we do talk to him we'll probably ignore whatever he says anyway. There very much is a ceiling to how risky this can be for us.

This means we're either telling him things without acknowledging responses (is this really talking to someone?) or responding in a way he can learn to manipulate. The only reason talking to Kyuubey might be a good idea is if we think he'll learn more by us ignoring him.

She also told us that it would be safe if we left it for an hour, when actually Sayaka was right outside the Witch's Barrier.

She didn't. She said we can probably leave it for an hour at most. ie. Probably less. She's not sure.

Out of a sample of two, yes...

We don't actually know how far the first woman walked. So, really, it's a sample of one.

That's our sample size. No Homura's and Mami's.

From the scene where Madoka found Hitomi, it doesn't seem like the group she was in was attacked. It looked like unrelated people from all over the city were attacked, and they only gathered into a group at the warehouse.

Maybe. Maybe not.

I still don't think Mami and Homura were nearly as unambiguous about the situation as you do.

They were adamant. They were discussing it as if their lunch suddenly attacked them or something.

Yes, but we don't know that it's only surpassed within our Barrier. We haven't tested it.

We were trying to and struggling.

It's worth pointing out that Walpurgisnacht somehow learned to evoke Barrier-like effects, heavy environment and physics manipulation almost certainly beyond our regular Grief abilities, outside of a Barrier
I don't believe this is beyond our griefhax.

and at a range greater than 100 meters. This is very likely on the Barrier tech tree.

I strongly disbelieve it is. I believe she was using zero abilities to do with barriers.

I'd also be more than satisfied if our unlimited range only works within the Barrier but our Barrier can interact with the real world at multiple simultaneous points more than 100m distant. Which, again, we haven't tested.
Again, we tried and struggled. We might solve these problems with barriers, but we're as likely to solve it with griefhax.

Do we know this works?

Do we know multiple entrances at greater than 100m range work?

Do we know Bags of Holding aren't sufficiently dimensional-shenanigans-y to cause the same problems as Barriers?

There is little we know, but at least we don't have evidence that it is yet.

That's strictly speaking true, if you're worried about us making Kyubey fragile and emotionally dependent on us...

Akiko completely manipulated us as well.

Mami and ourself both seemed to think that our Barrier is completely normal, as Barriers go. Just because someone new is making the Barrier doesn't mean all our accumulated knowledge about them vanishes.

Normal barriers are pools of insanity filled with the witches own twisted thoughts. I'm glad they're wrong about this.

I don't think we did even close to all you're claiming. I will accept citations, though.

My internet sucks, but I'll try searching.

[x] You know what? It doesn't matter that we don't know yet!
-[x] If something really thinks it can take us on, we'll show it!
-[x] We aren't helpless. We can take care of ourselves.
-[x] And we can find out what we need to know.
--[x] I already have some ideas.
[x] Maybe whoever this is thinks they can scare us, but look at what we've accomplished so far. We've taken on every challenge and we're still going!
[x] If they think they can mess with us and our friends and get away with it, they don't know who they're dealing with
[x] So let's show them!
[x] Pump fist into the air
[x] Offer group hug

Our friends need encouragement, reassurance and inspiration right now.

Would it really hurt if we let slip that we think Homura is our mom? We don't need to mention the specifics of that theory.

I say that it's something we could do in a more casual setting were it doesn't hurt if Sabrina's brain damage acts up then. Right now, however, we need can't really afford to look crazy.

[X] Comforting smile "I guess we're all in the same boat, then."
[X] Sigh "You know what I think? I think somebody's messing with us. It might be whatever the threat is, it might not. But it doesn't matter, because we're gonna beat them, just like we're gonna beat Walpurgisnacht, and anybody who threatens our friends.Together."
[X] Keep hugging Mami. Offer your other arm to Homura. We could use a group hug.
-[X] If things go right, ask Homura whether she'd like to come over for dinner.

Very slight edit after playing catch-up to the thread. Not really a fan of the post-Onmur vote wordings.

Because it's really kind of a stretch. Madoka might have created Sabrina.

Plus, it'll freak Homura out. And I don't really want Sabrina to actually think of Homura as her mom.
All that and...it really doesn't make sense for Sabrina to do so. Like forbidden love, it's a bad joke.

It's fine to be a little scared and uncertain in the face of all this. This isn't exactly something that anyone can deal with alone it's too much. So I guess it's a good thing that none of us are alone. Whatever this is, we'll beat it and get through this, together. Just like we've gotten through everything else so far. No matter what happens we'll protect the people we care about, from this, Walpurgisnacht, or whatever. Right?"
[X] Put a hand on Homura's shoulder. Pull her into a group hug if she looks receptive to it.
-[X] If things go right, exit out of timestop and ask Mami through telepathy if it would be alright if Homura could come with us to dinner. Ask Homura if she says yes.

You're not sure whether this will work, and whether you might've given up something crucial.

damn it why does this fill me with dread and sense of loss? We barely begun studying the barrer and i had high hopes it was a step closer to dewitching.

we may want to revisit barriers after witch bomb preferably once we get asurano's science megucas on board. they had a proper lab and we can beat the crazy out of them XD
