Hmmm... would that make her Lancer, though?
Kyouko's a little too lucky for being a lancer, I think. She doesn't die in every timeline, for one.

RE the spar, did we actually tell her we really want to improve our melee skills? Because I'm pretty sure that if she were to fight as per normal while we stick to our hammer she'd kick our asses so fast we wouldn't actually have time to learn anything.

Yeah, we should probably make that clear in the vote.

[ ] Rules
-[ ] No spells. Weapons and hand-to-hand only.
-[ ] No damaging Soul gems
-[ ] No amputation or disembowelment
-[ ] First to fall on her rump or face is the loser
[ ] Don't cheat

[x] No magic, just physical force.
[x] It ends when one of us is unwilling or unable to continue fighting.
[x] Don't cheat.

I think beating the tar out of Kyouko in the one round we don't hold back would net us some respect in a way that being pulped for all five rounds... doesn't. It makes it clear we're doing this from a position of strength. I propose 3 rounds of normal fighting followed by

"Let me show you a little of what I used to beat the Sendai girls."

and a round of unlimited grief works. Then a couple more rounds of normal sparring.
We barely had enough grief for the non-observation dome we made to read Homura's notebook. We don't have enough for whatever you're imagining.

I thought we had a shit-tonne ready to go in the grief seeds? If a full clear seed can hold years worth of grief then a normal seed should give us masses of the stuff right?

She is a magical hobo who got her own family killed and tends to fail to protect whoever she takes a liking to that timeline, so I'm not lucky's the word..

Also, we can just put in the rules that we both stick to melee weapons.

Also, we need to specify no harming of Soul Gems. Kyouko doesn't know how vital they are.
No. No I don't think so. It just draws attention to the witchbomb, and I'm pretty sure we are both skilled enough that the soul gems aren't going to be in any significant danger. Kyouko doesn't know enough about the meguca system to deliberately aim for it, and we certainly won't be.

She may not be that lucky, but she still doesn't have E rank luck.

E rank is still much better than the average human being. If I understand Nasuverse mechanics.

On another note, our grief powers creep her out, so she should be more comfortable with a good ol' melee spar.

Do we really want to limit ourselves to just our hammer? This sounds like it's going to be a very short and very one sided beat down.

Two hammers?... Maybe melee+minor magical effects. Why don't we start with the basic weapons and play 'who can manage to force the other one to pull out their next technique'?

Kyoko doesn't actually have any other techniques. Limiting magic use is handicapping only ourself, which is fine for melee practice, but this was presented as a spar, not melee practice. For Kyoko's entertainment's sake we should only be restricting boring tactics.

You guys sure it's a good idea to limit solely to melee? This is a spar, not exactly practice and Kyoko looks like she needs to blow off some steam. We could at least just use grief only defensively if it matters that much.

I agree. The weapons only limitation is a bad call. Don't aim for overkill or anything but I say we should give Kyouko a good challenge here.

Not entirely true, she does have the chain walls, but I suppose we did say spar. Still want that CQC training, though. Maybe defensive use would work.

Kyouko's got... Walls. I guess that's about it. Unless we include blowing up your own soul gem.

Kyouko's pretty good, yes. Maybe we should use non-witchy grief attacks, as normal. Kyouko will make us use our hammer after all, staying close up in our face and trying to spear us.

We can leave the 'teach us, Kyouko-senpai' for after we're done today. More like 'my hammer technique sucks, we should do this again sometime."

[ ] Match the level of tricks we pull out to her level of strength to keep it an even battle. No full-witch stuff though, just grief. Try to focus on using hammers.

Also, we really do need to practice more with magic by the way. Maybe try and incorporate it more in future fights. We only tried enchantment twice and the roof hopping trick once. Of course we're not that good at it yet. You actually need to practice at something repeatedly to be good at it. Who knew?:V

She's also got the super spear.

[] "First one to get incapacitated loses. Unless you give up."
[] Don't use gem-pulling, and don't just restrain her with grief.
[] Try to get some extra use out of your hammers, throw them at her, use them when she gets too close, etc.
[] Other than that, play to win; no one likes someone letting them win.

How's that look?
