[] *Nod* Go.
[] After Fukushima is gone:
-[] Note corruption levels. Rin probably needs a cleanse after healing Moe. Offer cleanses to any that may want them.
[] Next step is sending Miss Ueda home if she's ready.
-[] When she is, ask Sakura to take her home. You can refresh her grief seeds to cover travel costs afterwards.
[] While Sakura is doing that, talk to the UG. Next step is dealing with Akiko but we should wait for Sakura to come back first.
-[] Because the discussion can dip into some personal matters, I would 'prefer' to talk to her alone.
--[] However the UG can be present for the resolution of the meeting.
---[] Or if they want, they can just leave now and we'll inform them the relevant information by telepathy. It's up to them.
-[] While there may be things I can't agree to, If there's anything else the UG would like us to bring up during the discussion, now is a good time to tell us.

Almost certainly. Head jokes are an epidemic.

Also, solution to the cleansing problem: cleanse our own Gem in public. If it doesn't need cleansing, we can easily slip a little Grief into it so that it does.

There. Problem solved.
This...Actually works smoother than cleansing Rin or offering them a cleanse, while still shows that Sabrina can do that. Good idea.

Though we probably need to add grief; we have been cleansing at least ours quite often.

Ah, yes, that reminds me of all the ruminating I did to determine the purpose of Oriko's initial actions, that I never saw any speculation about in the thread (the events happened long before I found this thread).

Lemme find the notes...

Here, motivations for sending Hitomi to the hospital and burning Sayaka's home:

1) Interactions with Kyousuke
-- a) Similar injuries give a common bond
-- b) Much more time available to visit together than Sayaka has
-- c) Accelerating Hitomi's desire to hook up with Kyousuke
-- d) More interactions that do not revolve around music
-- e) Mitigating effects of Sayaka's hero worship
-- f) Stabilize mindset to reduce suicidal tendencies when all he had was Sayaka's visits
-- g) Increase exposure to the idea of Hitomi+Kyousuke for Sayaka
2) Guard against Sayaka contracting/grief spiraling
-- a) Due to 1f, Sayaka doesn't feel extra pressure to make the wish for Kyousuke (avoid one major grief spiral cause)
-- b) Due to 1g, Hitomi doesn't have to drop things in Sayaka's lap after her contract (avoid one major grief spiral cause)
3) Hitomi is present when Sayaka and her family are brought in after the fire
-- a) By being immediately present, she offers them a place to stay.
-- b) This increases the social closeness between Sayaka and Hitomi, and reduces propriety of acting counter to Hitomi's interests.
-- c) This reduces emotional friction between the two, and reduces Sayaka's obsession with Kyousuke (avoid one major grief spiral cause)
4) Fire is set in Miki's apartment
-- a) Emotional trauma changes Sayaka's mental focus on what she 'needs'.
-- b) If she contracts, it's more likely to be abstractly focused (fire, counter-fire, general healing in support of Hitomi, etc) than focused on one individual.
5) With all the above combined, Sayaka is far less likely to grief spiral, and her wish is likely to be more productive.

Basically, two fairly trivial acts saved Sayaka because of all the butterflies released. The fact that it looked like Oriko was trying to kill her was just a superficial effect.

Now, I will grant my initial speculations when things first happened were that Oriko was maneuvering to prevent Sayaka from contracting at all, and specifically to remove our options on a healer. Given our discussions with her, it doesn't seem to be that extreme.

Fire elemental Sayaka would be weird as fuck let's do it.

The Kine analysis seems spot-on, yeah, though I'm guessing 4 is more of a happy accident than the direct intent.

And I'm not sure the blueberry can survive quite as well as meguca without the healing to account for her occasional attacks of stupid. :p

We really, really need to have a quiet word with her though, before or after we or Mami spill the beans about how much of a shit QB is and the "soul gem is a rock" thing. Firn's told us repeatedly that she's gushing about meguca being awesome and that we helped make it look glamorous, and I'm not sure how much "QB a mindwiping shit" will deter her from contracting if we don't take further measures.

I'm all for making sure the blueberry doesn't do anything stupid, but we shouldn't worry too much. Canon Sayaka was done in mostly by the lich bomb, which fucked up that love triangle. I don't think she'll contract after learning it would make her into a zombie.

Which she doesn't know yet, hence the problem... :p

And even then, I suspect her and pink'd both go full lemming if things looked dire.

Oh god the Madocontract. Madoka is the real lemming.

How are we gonna deal with that?

I figure the only way to avoid Madoka contracting is by making it look like there's absolutely no problems she could solve by contracting. Make it look like we've got everything in hand and she can't help.

Because Madoka's pretty much a martyr looking for a mission to throw herself into.

We could try telling her about how being a meguca is bad, but giving her more information about how everything in the world is bad doesn't seem to faze her. More like the opposite, with any other girl you can tell her the truth and they won't contract; with Madoka that only pushes her to contract faster.

We could tell her about the previous timeline, but noi! I seriously doubt Madoka would accept "I'm pretty sure you wished me into existance in order to fix everything so you already did your part, let me do mine" as a reason to not contract. If anything, she might feel worse than normal if she thinks she's put us up to a life of danger.

We know we can't tell her she'll turn into the worst witch ever if she contracts because we know what she would do in that case.

Really the only thing Homura got kind of just right in canon is that you can't tell Madoka things. Keeping her ignorant seems to help a lot more than giving her information and trying to convince her to not contract.

Maybe we can, I don't know, get her to feel more important somehow. I don't know how, though.

[q] Lock Madoka and Mami in a room together until they solve each other's emotional issues

...What could possibly go wrong?

My personal nuclear option that'd get Homura to be furious and not speak to us for a week/shoot us if we even hint at it: If Madoka wishes for grief cleansing too, she'd never witch out and be free from the risk of another contract.

We should ask Homura if she has any additional insight.

Also, how do we go about deterring Sayaka with lichdom and "being meguca is suffering", while simultaneously not letting Madoka know how bad it is so that she doesn't try to help by making a wish?

Edit: or we do like Ugo suggests and let her help but with a wish that shouldn't kill her. Presumably, we then pray to whatever gods will listen that Murderface doesn't kill us.

Let them both know that QB a shit and the lichbomb/life is hard for meguca but try and play down the hardship? Emphasize what it'd do to Madoka's family?

Oh, rrrrrright, they're best friends. They tell each other things...

GODDAMNIT!

They may as well both know about the lichbomb and that QB an utter shit. That's just warning them. If Madoka knows to take things seriously and the situation seems under control, she won't be likely to contract.

Simple solution? Get her on a lifelong mission she can fulfill without a contract.

I don't have any ideas though. Easier said than done.

Second choice might be a properly intended
contact, like "I wish I could turn magical girls back into normal people, including myself." Then un-meguca everyone

Furious, @Ugolino ? She'd just rewind time.

Problem is that if we want Madoka to wich for something in particular, we need to manipulate her into really wishing for that something in particular. You can't

Our general weirdness can help. We know they'd be terrified about being zombies, but we're totally cool with it because it's actually pretty cool WE'RE WEIRD.

True but as far as manipulating her into a wish goes, grief cleansing would be an easy case to make, and her personality would make it likely for her to believe in it.

@SynchronizedWritersBlock
Actually...I don't think Homu'd abandon a timeline where Madoka was still alive.
