[X] [Ambition] Unify the Yllthon Coast
[X] [Fuel] Sale of academy space to foreign nobles

Lets have their nobles educated under us, under our ideas, our culture and being friends with our elites. And the coast is our biggest vulnerability. Secure it or they can fight us in the open rather than at a choke

We just spent the last turn building up diplomatic ties, and now people want to shatter them to rebuild an impossibly large empire out of people who are really not going to be happy being conquered. When we only just had said empire collapse because of war.

Shocking the People lasted as long as they did with us in charge.

EDIT:
[X] [Ambition] Unify the Yllthon Coast
[X] [Fuel] Sale of academy space to foreign nobles

I'm changing my Fuel vote on the grounds that this is more likely to help the world, and who honestly doesn't want to be at the heart of the Renaissance if they can help it.

Let's analyze these options:

Ambitions

[] [Ambition] Become Defender of the Monsoon Sea, securing the southern territories to support that

Pro-Suppresses foreigners in the Monsoon Sea by support others?
Con- The 'securing' part means we use the military? Full vote missing. Don't know.

[] [Ambition] Start conquering westward until these barbarians can be dealt with in their homes
IC confirmation that we'd run into problems doing this. But deal with the foreignors in their home.

[] [Ambition] Restore the Old Ymaryn Empire borders
-Seems very expensive and ambitious.
-Military option to restore the empire. Would upset our kin. Takes away from dealing with Vortug.

[] [Ambition] Unify the Yllthon Coast
-Leaning towards this if it involves

[] [Ambition] Stay at home, but smith harder
-Staying at home was said to be part of the problem. Nope.

Ambitions fuelled by...
[] [Fuel] Pursuit of new manufacturing
-We explore guns or ramp up tech base.

[] [Fuel] Ramp up existing manufacturing
-Sell more guns at a loss.

[] [Fuel] Sale of academy space to foreign nobles
-Tightens relations, which is good. Could spread cultural influence. Renaissance?
-Do we really want to give away this info.

[] [Fuel] Seizure of lightly defended territory for raw resources
-This could mean ANY lightly defended territory. Including that of kin or allies. Naw.

[] [Fuel] Aggressively dominating in-land trade routes
-Doesn't sound martial but more like using our heads. MIght draw resentment from others.

"Old Ymaryn Empire is basically Not!Black Sea, Not!Anatolia, Not!Mesopotamia, and Not!Persia"

Now back to me again:
Do you really think reconquering this is a good idea or will go well at the current time?

Okay Okay, we have three plans:
Go full Ottoman and try to conquer europe, them hit the Not!Polish and fail
Get West Ymaryn holding back, and as AN has said on the Discord, send fleets through the meditteranean and hit Iberia from the east.
Get East Ymaryn back, and carve a indian ocean coastal holding and kill them there.
Or go full Ymaryn Dragon and get all our eggs back, as in West, East, North and South Ymaryn.

Lightning rounds are basically engineered to trigger gut responses, which produces actually natural results where people think with...well everything rather than taking the time to reason out and debate the best path. Like, a big part of what ripped the Roman Successor States apart was the persistent ambition to reunify Rome out of pride and glory.

So you get things like the actual strategic mistakes of history, overestimating capabilities, etc, rather than Optimized Thousand Year Plan.

It very much does:
Just a heads up for the "Monsoon Protector" vote:

AN said:
There were many who called the People the Defenders of the Monsoon Sea, but in truth the ability to project power was limited by the overland route. While the People had a decent route down the Great River, their control in the lowlands was tenuous enough that they could not truly project into the southern seas without first undertaking a massive military conquest of certain key problematic areas, which could in turn threaten numerous diplomatic ties they had fostered.

This would result in a massive war first, and most likely completely break our diplomatic ties.

Or, we leverage geographical advantage, and secure the Not-Black Sea, with a defensible chokepoint at Trell(with cannon!), regenerate from that and then spread radially out from that choke, with a strong central sea highway.

Editing vote slightly ... again

[X] [Ambition] Unify the Yllthon Coast

[X] [Fuel] Ramp up existing manufacturing

This builds up our internal economy and infrastructure to fuel a land grab that will provide us further manufacturing space and raw resources. Selling academy space is a temporary and very short lived boost to fuel our expansion.

@Academia Nut, what territories are still, as in fully under our control? And what territories are no longer ours due to various reasons?

Basically the provinces of Valleyhome, Sacred Forest, and Redshore are still under direct management. Everything north got razed by the steppe nomads, the west and Not!Anatolia broke off to become a bunch of competing merchant city states, and the eastern mountains and lowlands got mauled and are much more pastoralist than in the past. You also control access to the Not!Indian ocean down the Not!Euphrates, but there are some rough patches such that you would need to directly seize its entire length and some of the coast to be able to fully prosecute a war in the seas to the south and east.

I'd rater use diplomacy since it seems to be working so far. Need to get foreign nobles in line and unified against the threat.

Plan to hop to Indian Ocean have no traction, so Black Sea it is.
